There is ample parking available, and despite being located right off the golf course, the restaurant is pretty easy to access. Walking in, you're able to seat yourself with a variety of options (low top, high top, and bar seating available). Our server was prompt and kind, the menu was quite expansive, and there were multiple options to please anyone in a large group. I ended up getting the corn beef hash platter, which came on a sizzling pan topped with a heaping portion of fried potatoes and corn beef and topped with eggs cooked to your preference. It also comes with a side of bread, I decided on a biscuit which was fantastic, buttery and fluffy. My breakfast partner ended up ordering off the lunch menu, getting a tuna sandwich, which also came with a heaping portion of tuna salad between two slices of buttered bread. They shared that it was a decent sandwich but not as good as other places. Overall, Prince Street Café is a great brunch/lunch spot, with the advent of spring this would be a lovely place to enjoy some sun and good eats!

Others at the table enjoyed a variety of dishes, including the surf and turf special (ribeye and shrimp for $40), a fish sandwich, and a ribeye steak and cheese. Everything that came out looked and tasted great. They also brought out complimentary bread with a homemade dipping sauce, which was a nice touch. You can tell they take pride in their food--we got the sense that much of it is made in-house. We also tried a few desserts, and they did not disappoint. The carrot cake, in particular, was one of the best I've had. Inside the restaurant was large and looked like they could host banquet and parties. We even had the opportunity to meet and talk with the owner, Tony, and were impressed by his background and passion for what he does. The waitresses are so nice in here and I love their Tappahannock take on a Frappacino- the Tappacinno! I just wish that when me and my Godmother waited at the drink bar for our drink when we visisted and didn't dine-in that there was a little less chaos and more attention paid. My Godmother has a dairy allergy and the first girl did wash everything... only for the second girl to come behind her and take it away and use it with yet another milk containing substance making us wait all over again not only for the first barista to wash everything but to put my godmother's drink back into the rotation. Something that should have taken less than 5 minutes took more like 15 (And that is a really cramped area with people trying to leave and come in to be waiting that long). Loved them otherwise! Java Jacks Cafe is a wonderful artsy place to lunch in Tappahannock, VA. We found Java Jacks through the Virginia Oyster Trail website which gave us lots of great ideas on things to do and see in the area. Tappahannock is such an adorable historic town - well worth the road-trip from Virginia Beach. I had Java Jacks local Rappahannock River Oyster salad with fried oysters on a bed of fresh mixed greens with homemade honey balsamic dressing. Yummy! read more
