This place is well taken care of by a staff that cares. It's comfortable and chill and their coffee is really good. They offer free refills on brewed coffee and there's a lot of places to sit all with a different feel and functional purpose. There are plenty of wall plugs, the staff is friendly and it's a relaxing spot to work. I haven't tried anything off their menu yet but it all sounds good, and their baked goods look better than other options in town. They also have ice cream! read more

Java house is a great neighborhood coffee spot! A super welcoming place with great employees who make good drinks. It's a nice spot to get some work done or catch up with friends. I generally solely drink black coffee, and I enjoyed their black coffee here. Not sure of the roast, but it tasted nice. read more

Java House - Chicken Quesadilla Cocoa Freeze - Cafes Near Me - South Lyon, Michigan

Service was excellent at Java a house. It's a unique coffee shop and I loved the comfy cozy vibe. We ordered a breakfast sandwich to share, thinking it would be a good size, but it was tiny. That would be my only critique, and my advice would be, if you're with a friend, you should each buy your own sandwich. read more

The inside is soooooo cute. I was surprised. I just wasn't expecting it. The customer service was good. It's a great place to chill at if you work from home or if you just wanna get a coffee and chill out and get out the house. The food was underwhelming though, I can admit. The sandwich was a basic sandwich. I was surprised that it didn't come with any jelly or sauce. I asked for the matcha to be sweet and it was absolutely not. I ended up tossing it. Glad I got to try them out nonetheless. read more

Nice local spot with a huge coffee and tea selection. Small bites, pastries and ice cream for food options. Solid cappuccino work but the lattes are very sweet and play up to the high school crowd. House made cannolis are up there with some of the best I've had (this includes Dearborn bakeries and the infamous Italian market). They also sell a selection of local artist arts and crafts like Jewelry, sewn and knit goods, candles, etc. for impulse buys or unique gifts. Plenty of indoor seating, couldn't connect to WiFi but was probably my security policies. If you're not into or open to listening to faith-based music and plan to stay in, this spot probably isn't for you. Has some outdoor spots but on the strip mall side walk and not shielded from the sun. read more

The Java House Café was so much more than I expected. The modern design fooled me as I entered the business. The inside is all open and inviting. I was drawn right away to the amazing homemade items that lined the left side of the café. Crochet bags/purses, animals, stoneware and jewelry. I just loved the attractive and cozy area by the fireplace to relax and enjoy! Oh and the coffee and lunch were perfect. I enjoyed a Mocha Latte and the broccoli cheese soup with a side of bread for lunch. A great choice for this chilly fall day here in Michigan. There is plenty of parking and outdoor seating area too. The prices are reasonable for this kind of café. The friendly and engaging staff is wonderful and charming to chat with. Stop in and relax, you will enjoy the company and your surroundings. read more

10/10 ambiance, very cozy plenty of space to sit and do work. Great fast Service and really good drinks. The food was solid, not anything amazing but no regrets getting it either but the drinks were great. Would definitely come again read more

After coming on here and reading reviews, I dealt with the owner and I believe perhaps his wife today. I've always loved this place I get so excited whenever I'm in the area for their coffee! But one of the reviews I just read was "it would've been an easy fix tell us next time." Today I go in excited per usual I rave about this place and I believe the owners wife took my order and I've never not once order a hot coffee in my life! Besides the point the owner himself brings me a hot latte, I said so sorry but it was supposed to be iced. Instead of saying don't be sorry I'll remake it, we're going back and forth with each other. He asked if I was sure I said yes, he asked if I told the lady who took my order, I said yes, he responds with well she said you didn't. And I was over it by that point why am I arguing with a grown man, so I said just give it to me hot "oh no no we'll fix it for you" then goes on "you just need to tell us next time" I love this coffee shop I've never witness the owners before I've always had a great experience. The coffee is amazing the food is amazing the whole store itself is amazing. The owners are nasty people! Your employees are really the reason your store is so great maybe stay home next time cause they never messed up more order or had an argument with me in the middle of your store. read more

The barista that helped me had such a bright smile and friendly disposition that I hardly needed the coffee to perk me up. The welcoming environment and customer service was exceptional- I had an americano and a bagel with cream cheese and they were both excellent. It is a very cute, quiet environment filled with local artisan crafts. My only regret is that I don't think I'll find myself in South Lyon ever again... but if I am I'll be stopping by Java House! read more

With the first steps into the cafe I got the aroma of many different items, without the sense of overpowering fragrances. The shop is open nicely with plenty of seating all around, including a variety of both low and high top tables, and couches for those who'd like to relax a little bit more. Also around is a selection of local artisans work for sale on a couple of tables, and along the wall. Nice to see the local support of artists and designers alike. Though it was only in the 8 o'clock hour when I was there, it was different(good) to see a variety of choices in both coffee, food, and even ice cream. I stuck with just the latte for the morning. The barista who took my order and had welcomed me through the door, brought the beverage to my seat. Although she may have accidentally spilled a little when setting it down, she quickly grabbed napkins and a wet rag to clean up the spill. All good! As I sipped the latte, it never stood out to me. Very plain, with uninteresting flavors built within. I ordered it with an extra shot in the 16oz size, and had I not had the extra espresso, it would have come out weak and watery. Decent cup of milk and espresso, could use some work. After my experience I come to conclusion, espresso/coffee is not their purpose and so it's not the main focus. They are doing good things all around, to create a solid balance. Keep it up Java House Cafe! Signed, Empty Cup Reviews read more

A very welcoming and friendly environment. The staff are extremely friendly. The food and coffee was really good and was fresh.

Great coffee, good selection of food. Reasonably priced. Nice quiet atmosphere. Great place to meet and chat. Very lovely, eclectic coffee shop. Local talent performs there periodically. Baked good are fresh if not plentiful. Always super nice service. read more

Very cozy and warm environment. I love fireplace, couches, and local retail they sell. However, their coffee is not good. They had three varieties and they all tasted awful. I settled with tea instead. They sell ice cream so I may go back in the summer. read more

I have been a LOYAL java house customer for two years. I like to come here after classes and be able to unwind and relax and see my friends. HOWEVER. Recently they have been discriminating against me. Earlier this week me and only two other people came to study, and were planning to order coffee once we got some work done. While we were sitting there TALKING about what we were going to get, a worker approached us and asked us to leave if we weren't going to buy anything. IN FACT her exact words were "if you dont buy anything now i am going to kick you out". THIS is so unacceptable. How are you going to kick us out when we were just about to buy something. And let me ask you this Java House, what if the students coming from the school are low income. What if people do not have the money to afford your overpriced coffee and milkshakes. We were so appalled that we left. Have fun losing our business and many others whom I will tell these events to. Try considering others perspective and lives and stop kicking students out. read more

Stopped in for a quick breakfast to go. Ordered a bagel sandwich with bacon, egg and ham cheese. Instead I received it with cheese bacon. Such a cute idea for the area I just wish they had better coffee. I know they have small bands on the weekend and other events as well. They also have ice cream and a variety of other baked goods and sandwiches. Pricing is high compared to the service and product quality they offer. read more

Place is great, good coffee & nice sitting area. This can easily be moved to a 5 star if 1 thing is adjusted... PLEASE cut out the Christian Religious music that plays 24/7. Heard the same song 4 times in 3 days, the music ruins the entire vibe. Play literally any coffee jazz music, and it's a 5 star. read more

Great food and beverages! Every item I've tried has been delicious. The prices are way beyond reasonable as well.

I don't have much good to say about this place. I didn't even like coming in here when they advertised with Free Medium Coffee coupons. Now that the best they offer is BOGO, I can't in my right mind go here when I can have the better Biggby for less. Service is unfriendly...not rude, just unfriendly. Everything is expensive. I can only assume it's still around because people try to maintain local loyalties by giving business blindly to local establishments regardless of if they deserve it or not. The coffee isn't bad...it just takes 3rd place in a small city with 3 coffee shops. read more

I've been to this place two or three times over the past two years. Today solidified that I won't be returning. Their iced tea tastes like it's been sitting out overnight. The customer service today was lukewarm. No "thank you" or "anything else?" or anything remotely friendly. Just mute attention. I felt like I was an inconvenience. My friend, who drove all the way from Milan to meet me, ordered a grilled cheese sandwich and a latte--$11. Ridiculously over priced and she stopped eating after one bite because it tasted bad. I'm pretty disappointed and will stick to Biggby down the street. They are super friendly there and their iced tea tastes fresh and not nearly as bitter as this place's. read more

2 stars for the super pleasant physical environment. 0 stars for my horrible Chai, and my wife's bitter coffee. As a lesbian couple in South Lyon, we have been surprised to receive overwhelmingly warm and accepting service from every place in town except Brown's, and this place. While the service at Brown's was openly unfriendly, here at Java House it was simply bristly. Maybe that was me reading into things, but I assume with all the Christian references in this place, that it may be related to their religion, which is a pretty crappy way to be. Anyway, we didn't try the food since we were so underwhelmed with our drinks. Too bad this place doesn't focus on customer service because they could knock it out of the park in that area. read more

I love this local coffee house. I have never experienced rudeness from any of the staff or owner. My husband and I have gone here to listen to the live musicians and had a great time! Coffee is always great too! After reading some of these negative reviews, I'm starting to think that some of those people have ulterior motives. read more

This place is super cute. Coffee, a fire place, a couple couches, attractive crafts and jewelry, a cool coffee bean roaster...what more could you ask for? Generally I'd expect overly friendly service in a coffee joint but the owner is clearly introverted...and that's fine. She's kind enough, and the coffee is hot, and that's all the matters. Java House is a place to come for a steaming cup of joe and solitude. If you're looking for a raging good time head a a few thousand feet north to the Rhino Pub. read more

I almost didn't come here because of the previous review, but I decided to try it anyway. Honestly, I was pleasantly surprised. With 2 reviews saying they weren't friendly I expected a stern face when I walked in...instead I was greeted by the friendliest most attentive girl at the counter. The coffee is good, the food is ho-hum (but, come on dude, it's a coffee shop, not a restaurant) . If I lived here, I'd easily come here to work instead of my local Starbucks. read more

Ordered a latte today and it wasn't good. Milk was burnt; the milk screams every time they steam it because it's the sound of them burning it. You won't hear milk being steamed like that in places that know how to do it properly. Really upsetting because it's such a nice place to hang out but I won't be because the drinks aren't good. read more

Service isn't full of fake, perky "make it a great day" masked corporate policy...but just laid back, low key...but still warm if you need something... Great atmosphere...coffee is much better than Bigby, but that's not saying much...but haven't even tried all the types they offer yet. The live entertainment adds a great dimension if you can catch it. read more

This is a great spot to meet up with a friend and enjoy good food, drinks & conversation. I'm not a coffee drinker but always order a big bowl of tomato soup. YUM! I love this place! The seats are so comfortable and they have so much variety of everything. I've had their scones and those are beyond amazing!! The teas are perfect as well. Customer service is usually really good. They have WiFi. They have live singing or playing things regularly. They also sell some cool crafty things which are really beautiful. Yes, they are a Christian place but they don't shove it in your face or anything. They have books for you to read as well. It's a good place for ice cream too!! Yay! I would 100% recommend it! I told my friend who wants to start a cafe to check this place out:) read more

I have been to Java house many times. It has a great area for studying or meeting with a friend. I enjoy the Christian music they play. Unfortunately the coffee is pretty bad and they often do not have ingredients for the sandwiches they advertise. None of the employees are rude but they are not really friendly either. I really want to like this place but the product and the service make me pick the other places in town first. read more

I just discovered this gem since I work in South Lyon. I have purchased the 5 dollar sack lunch, which is really a deal since it is fairly healthy ( wrap or croissant , cookie and chips ) . They have a nice variety of coffee beverages and pastries. The cozy atmosphere though is what really keeps me coming back only since I am more of a black coffee drinker ( they have quality coffee choices brewed too ) . There is a fireplace and piano and nice work spaces. Its fun since they sell local crafts and goods and it is there if you are interested , but not in the way of the actual barista area or being pushed on you like big box coffee shops. I would recommend coming here, its also $1 small coffees and $1.50 medium coffees from 6:30-9:30 can't beat that deal on GREAT coffee!!! read more
