Latte with lavender and white chocolate
Naw-am D.

I was on the hunt for good coffee on this side of town and I stubbled upon this cafe. What a cool game house! This is such a unique concept and I'm so excited to have found this place! Not to mention their coffee is on point! I asked for an Iced Latte with Lavender White chocolate and boy do they make good drinks. My son had a strawberry smoothie and it was very well made. As a first timer, my barista/host were so great about explaining how this place works. It's first come first serve in order to get the table of your choice. You get unlimited access to their huge selection of board games for $5 per person. The black shelves are for borrowing and the white shelves are for sale. There are several huge tables to choose from, perfect for large parties. I was given the option to check out the games in the "library" before I committed to playing. I refrained from this irresistible urge to play as I was really just stopping for coffee. Otherwise I would have probably hung out all day! The selection is very impressive. The $5 is for unlimited play and I was informed that if I leave and come back the same day with my receipt I can continue to enjoy these games! Great experience here, I hung out and watched others play their games while I finished my coffee. What a great place to hang out with some friends in the future!

Stopped in here to kill a little time while I waited for my appointment. I have seen them before but never been inside before. This place is a great concept and a unique way to create family time or hang time with friends. There is a wall full of board games people can play and the snacks are delicious. They have a calendar that shows the large variety of gaming opportunities that they have available to people. You can pop in to play a game for a certain price or you can become a member. I think my daughter would love it here. We will definitely be back.

They have a large selection of games and it's only five dollars to use it basically which is a nice price. It's big in there and most of the people seemed nice except for some of the customers/staff. Kind of created an uncomfortable and awkward environment. One of the customers that was being rude was either a staff member/ friend of staff which I found disheartening if she is promoting that type of environment for new customers. She kept talking behind our back when we asked for chairs and took a table. We waited thirty minutes ( got there before her) for a table for a party of 8, three tables opened up so we split off one and combined two but she threw a fit about it still even though she had a group of four people. She was so rude :/ the kitchen even gave her her food first when we ordered an hour before her. I think it might have been an event day but still I don't think that they should make the other people who aren't participating and just doing other things feel like they aren't welcome. If the event is that big of a deal Then I feel like they need to close the place to other customers so this type of environment and stress on the kitchen is avoided. If we were seated in the incorrect area then maybe tell us next time? Communication would've been nice. More training might help! As for the food, we waited an hour and a half for food while some of the staff sat in the back talking to each other. It was a busy night and they seemed very stressed out but it shouldn't take that long to make a panini and put ruffle chips on a plate. The panini was a bit overpriced for the two slices of meat they put on it. The coffee was burnt as well. One of the employees with longer blonde hair was trying so hard but it seemed like many of his coworkers were there to chat and hangout rather than help him work. This would of course be fine on a not busy day. He was begging for help, I felt so bad for him. I think if you come just try to check beforehand if there's events happening and come on a non busy day and you'll be fine. These issues probably wouldn't have existed. I think this place is still an amazing asset to the community and people that love stuff like this.

Amazing place to meet up with friends or hang out with your family. Great atmosphere with an amazing selection of board games, drinks, and snacks.

Iced Caramel Macchiatto made perfectly here! Yum.

Wow. I wish I lived closer. This location reminds me of a late-night coffee house called Caffeind in Atlanta without the late-night. It is pretty unique and it is also spacious enough for several small groups or just a place to shop for the latest games or browse. The staff is fairly friendly and helpful. It's a cool hangout for all to play some games while enjoying an iced caramel macchiatto [or your non-alcoholic beverage of choice]. I saw that the tables were set with checker boards, chess and other interactive games to use during your visit so definitely stay awhile. And although I wouldn't consider myself a gamer, you are allowed to nerd-out on your laptop/tablet/phone and just plug-in to any outlet. It's a safe place to meet up with friends in this relaxing, non judgemental environment. I wouldn't say it's just for kids and teenagers. Thank goodness because some of us oldies wouldn't feel out of place. They also offer other sandwiches and pastries on their menu if you're looking to grab a bite and don't want to go far. Overall, they used an awesome layout with this space and the bathrooms were pretty darn nice and clean. I would recommend checking out Java Game Haus if you happen to be on that side of town. It's pretty dope.

Play games and get your caffeine fix at the same time! Board game coffee house in Mandarin located in a quiet strip mall. Space is nice with nice large tables in case you have a large group you want to play games with. Large selection of board games - costs $5 per person to play the board games. Went on a Saturday and space is peaceful mostly with large groups playing board games. Regular coffee menu and latte was just okay. Ordered a large latte and it was average. I like my foam a little smoother and my coffee a bit darker. However, brewed coffee refills are just $0.54 if you want to keep drinking coffee while you sit and play. They did not have their food menu available when I went here but had some chips for purchase. Staff was very nice and knowledgeable! There are board games and dungeons and dragons stuff for purchase as well! Overall nice place to stay and hang out on a lazy Saturday!

This is a cool little local shop. Coffee, some bakery items and lots and lots of games. A cool hangout for the nerdy sect (myself included).

Board games aren't exactly cheap, so this is a fun way to try out new things without breaking the bank.

These hits are typically a relic card (like a piece of a jersey) or an auto. Both were conveniently missing as well. To me, this was extremely suspicious and the box seemed resealed. I reached out to the store via email. They were very quick to respond. I did appreciate that. They told me that they were looking into it. I did tell them no rush but after 2 weeks no updates or anything. They advised that they were going to reach out to topps but topps was very busy this time of year. I'm sorry but that's not a good excuse. Waiting over 2 weeks with minimal communication and hoping I go away? I did do a credit card chargeback. They then emailed me to stand on their pedestal and say how they were disappointed in me for doing a chargeback and they wont fight it. They also insinuated it was my fault that it took so long because I said no rush lol. I have no doubt that the employees or whoever is working here are nice. But they didn't prioritize me and could have picked up a phone to get this settled with Topps. They also could have just offered a refund. I gave them 2 stars because they were nice and the price on the box was good. But I'd really be careful purchasing here. With certain TCG already being heavily counterfeit like Pokemon, I'd purchase elsewhere. There is a reason they only have a few reviews and have been open for 8 years. it's all a bit fishy.

It was an easy process to pay online at their website to make sure I got a spot. Recommended doing that rather than driving across town and waiting or not knowing. Many stores in the area were sold for the prerelease event, so just glad I got to get in here through the website purchase. The distributors were delayed on release day, but the UPS hero showed up just in time. The owner assured me though that if by chance the shipment was delayed and they would need to postpone the event they would ship my prerelease kit to my home in Texas...great customer service! The owner and staff have been very cordial and you can tell they care for their regulars and all customers! Their products range from board games to miniatures and all look like a good value. They have a computer in the back to search their card singles inventory. You can even setup a store account and accrue store credit on all you purchases. I have played Commander on Friday nights here, too. The parking can get crowded and you'll have to park in the back lot, so keep that in mind when coming. The pods are always running it seems like, but usually from 7pm-midnight is for their event sponsored by WoTC where they'll do a random winner of a pack or something. Free to sign up and play! They have a cEDH group I got many games in with and they were all nice people. Definitely coming back to hangout when I get back to JAX!

If you love comics and pop culture in general, you really need to stop by this store. We try to stop in whenever we're over in Mandarin. While I've never been big into comic books, I've always loved pop culture collectibles. I know they can't carry everything in store but every time we're in there I'm amazed by how much they do have on hand. Sure, there are huge online stores that you can order tons of things from but like always, I'd rather support a local Jacksonville business if at all possible. Especially if it's a place I've received great customer service from before and that's the case with Mythical Mountain. We've called ahead before when we were looking for gifts and had them remember the call hours later when we got to the store and helped us find the perfect gift. I took a few pics to share but I still don't think it gives you a good idea of how much stuff they have in the store. I didn't find anything I wanted to pick up today but my wife found a Mick Foley action figure that she bought for herself, so that's a win for America. If you needed any further proof of the level of customer service and care they provide, you don't really need to look further than the most recent post I made about them in the the Jacksonville Fun, Eats & Drinks Facebook group. I posted a recap of our most recent visit in the group and mentioned the part you just read about how I didn't find anything then I mentioned that I need to call them some time to see if they can get their hands on one of the Michael Jackson figures made by Blitzway because they seem like the type of store that might be able to get that type of thing. Then I went on to say that even if they can't get it, I'd still rather try if I can go through a local place first before somewhere online. Within minutes, the store owner left a comment asking me to send her a DM with information on what I'm looking for to see if she can help. See what I mean? You can't get that kind of customer service from any online store, no matter how big and bad they are... If you like stuff like this, stop in at Mythical Mountain in Mandarin some time. Even if collectables or comics aren't your thing, I bet you could find a gift for someone you know at this store with ease. As I mentioned, a version of this post originally appeared in the Jacksonville Fun, Eats & Drinks Facebook group.
