I just love the name of this place. I literally saw the sign in the corner of my eye and did a U-turn to check the place out. Decent size store. Walls lined on one side with magic cards and folders, the opposite side lined with game books, back wall of comics and plenty of games displayed in the window to intice you to peak in. But the sign saying "Magic Played Here" had my dork mood on high. I spent maybe an hour just flipping through cards and chatting with the owner. I finally found a store that carries individual cards. This place has soul. When I'm searching through cards I create an imaginary bubble where I can longer see or hear anything that isn't on the cards but bits and pieces of conversations cracked my defence and I just smiled at the random conversations that were occuring. People discussed making repairs on vehicles, Obamacare, difficulty of playing in Florida weather, and gave each other updates on the Jaguar game. This place really feels homey. Can't wait to incorporate the cards I purchased into my decks and maybe come back and play someone.

The truth is, I've been to damn close to every local gaming store in the greater Jax area and, by god man, this one blows all of the others out of the water. At least in terms of their tabletop selection. Especially old stuff. The dude who owns it apparently used to work for TSR back in the olden golden days and, dude... it shows. They have a wicked collection of old AD&D first and second edition sourcebooks and folios and all that stuff. All priced decently and all in pretty good condition considering gamers played the hell out of those games in their heyday. They also have lots of 3.0/3.5 and pathfinder. Besides that, idk. They've got lots of miscellaneous tabletop game sourcebooks priced really decently as well. Saw some White Wolf, Palladium, Star Trek, Star Wars, etc. I'm not big into cards or comics anymore so I pretty much ignored all that. I mean, they've got a small and kind of disorganized back issue box and I think I saw some MtG stuff. Oh oh oh! They've got tons of Warhammer stuff, way more than what you can find at, say, Borderlands. Idk about the Games Workshop store in Baymeadows. Never been there so I don't know if that's the Warhammer mecca or not. They also have a game room about the size of Jax game center's for Magic, DnD, Pathfinder, etc. They buy comics and game stuff back at this store, but I would redeem it in store credit because this place is relatively new. It used to be Suncoast but the owners are new and had to start over so I think instead of selling a ton of stuff to them and taking the earnings, you should support them by freeing up their stock a little and passing on the word about the store. It's super important that we nerdy folk take care of our own.

This like an adult playground. Love how there were table top games, $14.99 posters, old comic collections, accessories. Just so much stuff

Great store. Almost everything you would want. If they don't have it, ask! Super-knowledgeable staff!

Not really a comic book store, more of a gaming/magik joint.

The energy is always high, the vibes are immaculate, and the staff keeps the shelves stocked with a ridiculous variety of comics, collectibles, action figures, FUNKO Pops, short boxes, supplies, and more. It's literally the kind of place where you can lose an hour without even realizing it. First off, say hello to Pacer, the AMAZING shop dog and official mascot of Gotham City Limit. He's the sweetest, the best greeter, and the best browsing buddy. Who doesn't want to shop with a good boy by your side? If you don't see Ben, you'll definitely hear his greeting from somewhere in the store as that man is just nonstop. Ben's dedication shows, especially on Free Comic Book Day and special release days, when Gotham City Limit turns into a full-blown celebration. On top of that, he partners with Jacksonville Public Library when they host comic-centered events and you'll see him at different conventions throughout the year. Ben makes sure everyone, from kids to hardcore collectors, feels welcome and included. Also big love to Jonathan (one of the OGs of comic shops in Jax) and Santana, who are always ready to talk storylines, their newest recommendations, or help you find the one issue that you didn't know you were missing. My pull list will ebb and flow depending on what is being released or if I want single issues of something. However, the numero uno items that I always want to see are the latest Baby Marvel covers from Skottie Young. The team has my account tagged for those specifically, and that kind of attention to detail is incredible. It's the kind of personal touch that makes you feel truly seen as a collector and fan. Gotham City Limit is a little slice of geeky heaven in Jax and one of the last remaining locally owned comic shops in this area of town. So make sure to swing by for a visit sometime soon and, as Ben says, always take it to the limit!

I've been to this place three times and after my third visit I'll no longer go back and here's why. On my third visit, I gathered up three of my friends to go there and we're from Jax Beach so it's not a short drive. I bought some figures last time I was there and was hoping to see more. We got there and he told us that the AC is broken, and it has been for well over a month but I honestly didn't care that much. We get in and there's hardly any room to walk around. There's boxes everywhere and it was extremely cluttered but he kept commenting to be careful if we tried to pick up boxes and look and what's underneath. I only saw two power rangers figures and asked if he had any more and he said, "There's some over there, and on top of that thing but too bad nobody cares about power rangers." The last time I was in I bought power rangers and he made a rude comment about how terrible power rangers are and how they're a rip off and he doesn't understand why anyone would like them. Mind you, this is while I'm literally handing him money and he's making fun of me for buying it. I'm not upset at him dissing power rangers because I could care less. But imagine if you were at Publix and you bought a Turkey sub and you get to the register and the cashier says, "You like Turkey subs? What kind of loser are you? Turkey subs are absolutely disgusting." After he told me how much he was asking for certain figures, which were extremely overpriced, I stopped looking. My buddy saw a box of He-man figures behind the shelf and attempted to walk back to pick them up and the owner said, "Hey man! You can't go back there." So my friend had to ask him to go grab the figures. He did and said he wanted $100 for the whole box. My friend just wanted one of the figures and the owner said, "Well I'm selling the box because I don't know how much they go for individually, all my prices are at home." Okay... cool. Then he was saying how many G.I Joes he had(another thing my friend collects.) He said, can I see them? He left all of them at his house with some other ridiculous excuse. He's apparently been buying more merchandise to fill the store up instead of fixing his AC. I know this review makes me sound like a total douchebag and that I'm a stickler and such but I'm not. Bottom line is, the owner is unbelievably rude and unorganized and shows no care to the few people that come into his store, which is nearly impossible to find. His figures are overpriced. I'm never going back and I highly recommend you don't give this place your business.

His son came in at one point and helped us with the purchase of some albums. They have albums that are open and albums that are sealed, and they have a lot of genres of music to choose from. I ended up buying a Pink Floyd album that I had been trying to locate and it was sealed. I didn't want to open it because that would decrease the value so I called back to see if they had an open copy which they did so I went back the next day and bought it. I don't know I could really explain everything that's in the store. Their books, paperback and hardback. But more than that, they have first edition, signed books by the author and kids books as well. You know what else they have? They have albums, but I already mentioned that. But what I didn't mention was I have three or four rooms of albums. They're on the floor. They're in boxes. They're on racks. So if you're looking for certain music, make sure that you leave yourself enough time to look.. They also have comic books. And trade paperbacks. And graphic novels. They have baseball cards. They have garbage pail cards. They have collectibles, figures, Star Wars, stuff. Yes, lots and lots of stuff . Thoroughly enjoyed shopping here and meeting Mr. French and talking to his son. I know this may not be everybody's jam, but for me I really enjoyed spending time browsing looking and yes, buying.
