Juan took his time with my cleaning (even into his lunch hour!) to make sure my teeth looked amazing after braces. He was gentle and showed great customer service. I mentioned to him that my gums had been bothering me ever since I had my wisdom teeth removed. Initially, he told me to just ignore it until it became unbearable. This year, the discomfort got worse, so I brought it up again. He referred me to McKinney Associates PIE. When I went there, they told me I had to get a 3D X-ray first--which my insurance doesn't cover--before the doctor could even examine my teeth. The X-ray came back normal. After the X-ray, the dentist began checking my teeth and found that one of my teeth was missing a portion, which is why my gums had been bothering me so badly. I was then told I needed to go back to Dr. Allen to have it fixed. How does that make sense? Shouldn't Melissa Dental have identified this issue before sending me somewhere else? And it didn't end there. I tried to make an appointment to fix the problem, but was told Dr. Allen wouldn't see me without a referral--from the very same specialist he had referred me to. He's my dentist, and I now need a referral to return to him? It's too much. I'm done with them--and so is my entire family.

Overall my experience here was less than expected. I have had no ability to get a cleaning done due…read moreto their ever changing schedule and being booked months out, and the emergency care I received left me in pain and ending up getting a root canal and even that did not remedy the pain in total. It took MONTHS to not have pain daily after repeat adjustments and multiple temp crowns. I had a break so likely the trauma caused would have resulted in a root canal but I don't feel like they were conservative in their approach with me and my tooth was filed down to nearly nothing. Another dentist mentioned this could have caused the delayed healing and extended need for time to reduce inflammation. I have days even still that the tooth does not feel right. It's been about a year. That isn't a good feeling with having spent thousands on ONE tooth. This was my first crown and I have good teeth and hope to never have to be back in anyone's office for another but I have thankfully found a good dentist that I don't have to question.
