The situation: we only had two days in San Sebastian, a Monday and Tuesday. We heard over and over that San Sebastian was the place for food, but on these off days we had trouble finding a spot that was open.
So, as we wandered around during dinner time we saw their menu being displayed and went off of that. We were some of the first people here and the service started off somewhat slow, but picked up shortly.
We did the tasting menu for 38 Euros and had 5 courses plus dessert. I can't remember how much we spent on wine, but it was very reasonable, around 12 euros a bottle.
The decor was OK, very minimalist, but the food was just amazing. My favorite was the Green means on top of mashed potatoes with fresh foie gras and truffle oil - just decadent. The hubby's favorite was the fried Hake Steak, which was delicate and perfectly cooked.
This is more of a 4.5 review, but knocked off a little for the service in the beginning. read more
