The room was large and we were upgraded to a lakefront suite that was absolutely adorable and Instagram worthy AF. Slept sooo good! The property is huge, but you don't feel the congestion as you do at the Lake Louise and Banff properties. The restaurants on property were delicious and service was what you would expect at a Fairmont property. Unpretentious five star luxury on every level. We stayed at two Fairmont's during our trip to Banff and Jasper national Park in October 2025 and this was definitely the best of the two!

The room was very nice and we really enjoyed the experience. As long as their is a nice comfortable bed, a nice size clean bathroom and enough room to sit, I am happy. This place fit the bill. We were here as part of out Rocky Mountaineer trip and they had a staffer with a separate check in for us. You leave the train, they take you over by coach and the baggage is already in the room. The staff was fabulous and everyone was very attentive to any of our needs and always very accommodating. I had only one issue here... lots of people and not a lot of places to eat. A bar and restaurant. My wife and I are used to multiple choices and the ability to walk downtown if we want. Here that was really not an option. We came back late from a tour and it was difficult to be seated. The VERY NICE host took our name and really watched the flow of people and managed to get us in a bit earlier than the reservation we made. Food and atmosphere is good and our server did a wonderful job. (some food pictures attached as well as a separate review.) I have mixed feeling about the trip to the Glacier. Don't know if that is something that I would have booked myself. It's a "cool" idea to be up on a Glacier, but it can also be a bit anticlimactic. You get driven out there in these hard "big as earth mover" buses, then parked, left to wander for 20 mins, then back on the noisy transports. Then there is the environmental impact of being up there, and the fact that climate change is already doing a job on the glaciers. Without waxing to much philosophy, one could say that about the entire travel industry. Anyways, it was a beautiful day, lots of sunshine, fresh air (once they turned off the diesels engines), the glacier and surrounding area is a treasure, and I was among people I love. We were lucky to do this as parts of the park were still closed to do the fires during the summer months. The vehicles were specially made for this activity by Mercedes. The drivers and guides are knowledgeable and engaging. We stepped out onto a glacier for just about a minute as it was 0 degrees on the ice with the wind etc. and the glacier was slippery so I didn't want to go far. BUT I can say I walked on a glacier. The guides told us to walk like a Penguin so we did and that was fun. Highly recommend.

My favourite hostel in Jasper National Park…read more It's located at the top of Maligne Canyon, one of the more popular tourist destinations, but in the early morning and in the evening it quiets right down. Accomodations are minimal, just a few bunkhouses with six beds to a room, but if you're staying there you're not after a five-star ambience anyway. The best description would be 'rustic'. Pack your food inside so the bears don't trash your car trying to get at it. Only room for about 24 guests, and the toilets are out behind the shed, but it's away from the drunks and rowdies in town and has a very peaceful atmosphere. It's cheap - about $25/night . The hostels are the best (and only) way to get a weekend in Jasper during high season for under $150/night unless you want to camp. You can catch the Maligne Lake shuttle bus to get to the Maligne hostel if you don't have a car. A good night's sleep, friendly company in the cookhouse/common room, and wonderful views of the mountains to greet you when you get up.

During our drive up to Medicine lake and then the canyon, Adam told us about the 2024 fire while we kept an eye out for wildlife. We were treated to mule deer and elk! The hike into/out of Pleckaitis was beautiful and a great way to end our stay in Jasper. Adam was friendly and knowledgeable - my boyfriend enjoyed talking hockey with him!

Daniel was extremely knowledgeable on what we were seeing, giving us a most enjoyable history lesson of the region. Daniel was also quite humorous which was an added bonus and he took a genuine interest in each of his clients. He had everyone's best interest in mind and actually took us to a couple of spots not on the itinerary that he thought we should see. We couldn't have asked for a better day or a better guide. We said Elk, Deer and a bear. Saw a waterfall and glacier. Fred was a wealth of information. Highly recommend! Look the reviews on TripAdvisor. I copied and pasted my review here because I noticed too few reviews on Yelp. My son said this was his favorite part of our Jasper/Banff trip.
