Although that was several years ago, I was prompted to write this review after reading the reviews already on Yelp. I never waited any longer to see a B&J Spec doctor than any other type of doctor, and the staff has always been very friendly and helpful. My surgery was beautifully done and my thumb works better than ever!! I also have had physical therapy on 3 different occasions, and I have to say that B&J's Phys Therapy team is superior. I have had phys therapy at 3 other places over the years, and have never been more satisfied than I was with B&J Specialists. I HIGHLY recommend them (I have brought my mother to them twice also and she has been very happy with her care!!)

You can tell he gives his patients as much time as they need when helping them understand their problems and their options. At some point he recommended trying PT again and I decided to stay with Core in Novi. When I started Casey did my intake. I was very nervous, after dealing with this issue for so long and having no success with PT. She was very calm yet confident and started me on a program. I came to know Stacie and Jenna (they work with Casey on a team) they both were friendly and supportive. After a few weeks I wasn't showing signs of progress so Stacie told me I may need to go back to the doctor and explore other options. I was disappointed but SO grateful. I spent months at other PTs with no results and I was always pushed on. Stacie's honesty I think what lead to my finally getting better. After talking with her team, I was discharged and went back to Dr. Slesinski. He carefully explained my options and I ultimately decided to have surgery. An option I hadn't been given until Core PT urged me to go back to my Doctor. My surgery was performed by Dr. Kesto this last November and after I week I returned to PT at core. Casey, Stacie, and Jenna were again patient with me but urging me to push myself when appropriate, changing up my program to address my needs on particular days. And after a few weeks I got stronger. They did the best they could to keep me in PT for as long as I needed but eventually I had to be discharged. And I was kind of sad. Casey, Stacie, and Jenna made me happy to come to PT. By January I was in better shape than before I had my surgery. I'm very pleased with the results. Throughout my experience with core nearly every receptionist, nurse, assistant.. etc was patient and kind. I highly recommend Core Institute and if I every needed treatment again I would return there myself. I felt more taken care of there than with any of the previous providers I saw.

James Watson and Kristin Alvira were a fantastic team for my rehab. They are incredibly knowledgeable, compassionate, motivating and friendly caregivers. Every time I came in concerned about my recovery they reassured me I was on track and experiencing normal healing. They helped me regain the strength I needed to return to work (on my feet all day). I haven't missed a day since returning because of my knee. I highly recommend this team!

We have known Dr. Soo for quite a few years now and would not consider anyone else for spinal surgery. He is truly a genius and is a very caring doctor. I had a very rare condition in the spinal cord in which Dr. Soo performed an operation. He took the time to research and care for my case personally, above and beyond the call of duty that no other physician would take on. His sense of humor lightens the mood of some potentially bad news. But I assure you, if it can be fixed, he will fix it!!! Both offices are very busy, however, if you are able to book an appointment on a Thursday, I find that the Novi location to be a bit less crowded. You should book your appointment at least a month in advance, or two if you can. To avoid a long wait, you can ask for the first appointment of the day. Just a couple suggestions that are hopefully helpful.

I then tried the online scheduling portal, and it appeared that Dr. Houseman had no appointment availability at all. For a large medical group, I expected a much easier process--especially for a patient trying to address a potentially serious medical issue. At the very least, there should be a simple option to speak with a human being who can explain availability, cancellations, referrals, or next steps. I can't comment on Dr. Houseman's medical care because I haven't been able to get far enough in the process to schedule an appointment. This review is strictly about the scheduling and communication experience, which so far has been extremely frustrating and disappointing.

I was scolded for…read moreover five minutes, in public, trying to painfully stand on my recently replaced knee joint, just because I (apparently) made her unhappy by not figuring out the last page (roughly 8-9) of the online "check-in" form - I simply did not see a way to proceed, so did my best. Then, she insisted I hand her my phone (?), I said no, she became even more agitated, raising her voice at me, while I stood there astounded. Told her I didn't want her handling my phone, asked if there was some other way I could please her, she again demanded the phone saying she "needs" to show me "how to get around that part". I explained that with COVID concerns and all, I still was not going to let her handle my phone, and besides I did the online check-in on my computer at home NOT my phone, I don't use my phone that way. She then said that she "never asked" for my phone, with my wife and I both shaking our heads in disbelief. Since we were apparently at some kind of impasse, i told her I was going to leave and re-schedule some other time. She ran over to some nurse (I heard her complaining about me), then the nurse opened the door and asked me to come back. However, THEN she blocked my wife from entering, and when I said I wanted her to come back, she said no, only me. Well at that point I said I won't do it without my wife, so we had to leave ultimately. I should point out that my wife is my caretaker, helping me through this knee replacement, recent diagnosis of untreatable liver failure, and lapses of memory, along with serious bouts of depression. I do not talk to my doctors without her present, and this has never been a problem until today. I will also point out that we are both fully vaccinated, masked, and always respectful of the reasonable precautions necessary in some circumstances - this follow up visit was not one of them. I was a medical provider for just over 40 years before I had to retire for health reasons, and I never, ever remember anyone being treated so poorly as I was today, in this DMC office, by DMC staff. As I love my doctor, I am extremely disappointed to now being forced to consider a change; not to mention I have not received the follow-up exam and care that I need after such major surgery. Worst. Experience. Ever.

Dr Mackey was very kind, knowledgeable, personable and caring, took a lot of time with me and I actually now have a different prognosis and treatment plan from him. The other surgeon wanted to perform surgery which it turns out is not only not necessary but was wrong. He never shared my x-ray with me or answered any of my questions or concerns. He said I had arthritis which it turns out was incorrect, I do not have arthritis or need surgery, just some inflammation which can be treated without invasive intervention. I would highly recommend Dr Mackey to anyone without any reservation. He is a wonderful doctor and his entire staff treated me with respect & caring.

I woke up in the recovery room and I had zero pain. I couldn't believe at first. I was already walking in the hospital 5 hours later with a nurse without any pain. The checking in for my appointment was perfect and easy, and the front desk girls were great. Dr Michael Ellenberg explained the process in detail, had great bedside manner, was professional, friendly and very concerned about my elbow pain. By this time I was totally relaxed and ready for the procedure. Looks like good ole tendinitis to put it simple.
