My knee was often swelling and locking. The doctor did an outpatient surgery to clean things up and found broken off piece of cartilage which caused the locking. After the surgery, it healed well and I will unconditionally recommend this doctor based on my experience. My physical therapist initially recommended this group of doctors and I am very happy with the outcome. I cannot wait to get strong again and be more mobile and live a better life. (Phys therapist was Omnikinetics in Birmingham.) I feel fortunate to have great doctors and therapists on this journey to getting back active.

This has been the most horrendous experience I've ever encountered in my entire life. Shawn is…read moreunequivocally the most unprofessional individual I have ever met. She's rude, has an exceptionally short temper, and is incredibly dismissive. Upon my first visit to this clinic, I arrived on time and walked right up to the front window. Shawn was preoccupied with the computer and was actively having a conversation on her cell phone through a black earpiece in her left ear. The lobby was so quiet that I could physically hear her talking, which is a blatant HIPAA violation. She was typing on the computer while talking on the phone and discussing patients' personal information, including names, dates of birth, types of insurance, and reasons for their visits. This level of exposure is unacceptable and deeply concerning. I chose not to interrupt her, but after standing there for five minutes without acknowledgment, I politely said, "Hi, I'm here for my 1:30 appointment." She responded with "obviously," and told me to have a seat, promising to be with me as soon as she could. Her response was a bit unprofessional, but I complied and took a seat. After waiting for about 10 minutes, I noticed other patients arriving and being assisted immediately. I went back to the counter and reminded Shawn of my appointment. She snapped at me, telling me to have a seat again. Throughout this interaction, she continued her phone conversation through the earpiece. Eventually, she handed me an iPad to fill out my information, but when I returned it, she claimed my insurance was inactive. I knew this was incorrect and offered to have my insurance details faxed over from the urgent care I had just visited. She agreed, but even after confirming the fax was sent, she claimed not to have received it. I watched as the urgent care faxed the information again, and I saw it come out of the clinic's fax machine. Yet, when the nurse came to call me back, Shawn insisted I wasn't ready. I explained that I had completed all the necessary paperwork, but she rudely told me to sit down. After an hour of unnecessary waiting, I was finally called back. Despite this terrible experience, I returned to the clinic, hoping it was just an off day for Shawn. Unfortunately, her behavior was just as disappointing the second time. This is unequivocally the worst experience I've ever had in my entire life. Shawn's unprofessionalism and disregard for patient confidentiality are beyond unacceptable. However, after bringing this issue to the clinic manager, she went above and beyond to resolve the situation. She was incredibly understanding and efficient in addressing my concerns. She even arranged another appointment for me at a different clinic. Dealing with her has truly been a blessing and turned an otherwise negative experience into a positive one. Thanks to her efforts, I left the clinic satisfied and with restored faith in their service. I truly hope management takes immediate action regarding Shawn. Her behavior is detrimental to the clinic's reputation and poses a serious risk to patient privacy.

She assured me that I would have a great experience and that the doctor I was seeing would take excellent care of me. She was right. They have the option of having the underwater treadmill which is a very rare thing to find in any physical rehabilitation center and all of their locations have that. The people that work here really do care about you getting better that's there goal first and foremost and they never push you to do more than you can do and they never treat you like a like a number you are a patient to them in the highest regard and at this particular location are Kim and Katie have been very wonderful and we are very satisfied with the services that we have received and would recommend you coming to this place and giving it a check out to see if it's right for you. They treat a variety of illnesses and ailments and are the place to go if you want the best care for yourself.

My latest was to arrive - 4-5 weeks after our last appointment with a "we have to redo forms, scan insurance card, drivers license, etc as it's a new year.". Nothing has changed? "Yeah - it's our policy." Really? Policy or complete inefficiency? Inefficiency for sure. I then had to sign 3 printed sheets - (is this 2023? Or 1993?). I received a 3 page receipt which I didn't even need a printed receipt for a $15 copay. Why waste the paper and tree? Why not at least ask me if I wanted or needed? Or even better email if I need it (doubtful). Doctor experience ?- great. Office experience? - terrible.

Being as smart as I am ;-), I knew not to go to my primary physician because they would just send me to the hospital for x-rays. I also knew that if I went to a sports medicine Doctor, they would have an x-ray machine onsite and the doctors specialize in injuries such mine. After some research, and calling around a few places, the DMC Sports Medicine office was accommodating for same day service. The receptionist who answered the phone was so so nice and said she could get me into the office to see Dr. Kakos in the afternoon. As many as you have experienced, the receptionists usually think they are doing us a favor by allowing us to be seen- not a this place. Everyone, including the nurse was very pleasant and helpful. Moving on to Dr. Kakos! He was amazing! He had a great attitude, listened, and very thorough. He explained the pros and cons and how he came to his diagnosis. I am so glad I found a good Doctor that specializes in injuries related to the gym/sports.. etc etc. Also, I was very happy that I didn't wait at all.. I was in and out with a x-ray within 1 hour. If I had gone to the ER, I would have been there for 5-6 hours.
