My husband had back surgery in 2018 by a neurosurgeon here in Kalamazoo. That surgery needed to be…read moreredone within 2 months. Being naive about back surgeries we thought my husband was getting the best care he could. After the 2nd surgery failed miserably a friend suggested that we see Dr. Nicholas Shroeder at OSOC. Within minutes of meeting with us he explained clearly why the first two surgeries had failed. By this point my husband is in constant pain and can no longer stand up straight. Dr. Shroeder explained what he felt the best course of action was going to be for Tom's situation. Dr. Shroeder had the new pieces needed for Tom's back made specifically for him in France. The previous neurosurgeon had just grabbed any rods and screws within reach. That was what kept Tom from standing upright. The picture on the right shows the neurosurgeon placed straight rods in his back. Losing the natural curve is what kept him from ever standing straight and in excruciating pain. The picture on the left is what was needed to give Tom the ability to walk and have a good quality of life again. This shows the difference between an excellent surgeon and one who should never be allowed to practice medicine again. The day of the surgery was a very long one. Dr Shroeder performed the 14 hour surgery to correct the neurosurgeon's mess. He actually had to rebuild Tom's back vertebrae by vertebrae. There were a few appointments before the surgery and a few during the next year. It is a 3 hour drive each way for appointments/surgery. Both my husband and I feel that the drive back and forth saved his life. I do not say that lightly. It's been 6 years since his surgery at OSOC and we are so grateful to Dr. Shroeder and his wonderful staff, especially Liz. Their knowledge, patience, compassion and kindness is so appreciated.

I wouldn't consider going anywhere else. Dr. Kassab is one of the nicest doctors I've ever met. He did my full right knee replacement 8 years ago and a full left knee replacement almost one year ago. Both surgeries were a great sucess with a speedy recovery. Dr. Kassab and his team are on top of the latest science and technology. They have their own Physical Therapist who are wonderful to work with, so friendly, encouraging, and knowledgeable. The physical therapists are in direct contact with Dr. Kassab so they are able to track and report your progress. Very highly recommended! Leanne Oxford, MI

I was referred by my doctor to go here for a cyst in my wrist. She believed it to be a ganglion…read morecyst, and after going here Monday it was confirmed it was a cyst. There are a group of doctors here, so you can let them choose for you by whatever day and time you are available to go in, or you can look through the doctors on staff online and decide who you want to see for yourself. I did the later and it happened that Dr. Emily Abbott was available when I wanted to schedule. I arrived about 10 minutes early. I chose not to do all my signing in online, so she gave me an iPad to do all my paperwork. It went pretty quick, but I also had already prepared a list of all my vitamins I take, any medication, allergies, etc before my appointment. They just had to make a copy. Wanted to make sure of having that in case I needed surgery for the cyst(had researched online the condition after my diagnosis..) It was busy...so my appointment was at least 30minutes behind. That was ok though this day as I got all the paperwork done! The staff was awesome.....very nice ladies all around. This proved to be especially true after Dr Abbott and I discussed if I was ok going ahead with having the cyst "aspirated", we could do it today. Of course I said let's do it as I didn't foresee any reason not to as she told me I'd be okay to drive after-no restrictions not to. She explained everything that would take place before hand after determining it was a cyst with an ultrasound. I told the nurse I wasn't too great with needles...so she gave me a juice box since I hadn't eaten in about 6 or 7 hours..? Dr Abbott talked me through all she was doing as she did it, and other than a prick from the first needle, I thought I was doing well lol. She even said I was! But once the steroid injection went in, I knew it was hitting me not good.....they immediately told me to sit back after I started getting hot and took off my scarf...told her I felt like passing out. Next thing I know I was aware of at least 3(maybe 4..?)different nurses trying to help me! Washcloth on my head, my neck, talking to me & giving me smelling salts(more than once needed it)...telling me to take deep breaths...felt like forever to feel it pass! Felt Dr Abbott take my pulse because I was so clammy. They brought me more juice, water, and crackers. They were so nice and attentive. The pain from that injection hasn't passed fully yet the day after, but the major pain I felt when getting it lasted for about 6 hours. Not sure why I reacted so badly to it but glad they were there for me. They didn't want me driving until I was sure I was ok to do so. I'm guessing they maybe should've checked my blood pressure too..? But all in all, even though it sucked what happened-can't complain about anyone that works there or Dr. Abbott!

Absolutely not to work for!.. But the Dr.s are great!…read more Horrible management including HR.. Heartless and and inconsiderate of peoples disabilities.. Totally disappointed in that company
