Then they video conferenced in someone who barely spoke English to do the exam -I'm not upset he didn't speak English based in R*acism I am because he couldn't understand anything I said and just angrily kept repeating his script. Clearly no is here cares about your prescription at all. Which is even more evident because of the "free" glasses (they obviously can't charge for the shady way they get your prescription so they just charge you for glasses which is a scam) came small as heck and wrong. They blamed in on this or that and said to put them on in the morning. Didn't work. I assumed it was the size of the frames so I ordered more glasses from somewhere else and nope it's the prescription that's wrong. They claim it's cheaper then upsell you. Dr. Ostler explained how cataracts can increase pressure on your eye and suggested cataract surgery which made me FREAK OUT, but after his calm explanation of the procedure and answers to all my questions I booked my surgery. I now call it more of a procedure. You're still awake, but really, really relaxed and pain free. 10-15 minutes then Bam, you're in recovery sipping juice, coke, 7-up whatever - awake but don't drive unless you want to get pulled over by your local enforcement officer. Rest the rest of the day and don't FREAK OUT if your eye is cloudy or blurry. It clears. Just follow Dr. Ostler's instructions. I promise you it's OK. My surgery (procedure) was yesterday and I'm great! YOU WILL BE TOO!

I was told he'd return from his vacation in 11 days. Funny, as I hung up, I realized they didn't even offer me a referral to another eye doctor. I called right back, I got a different person to speak with and she graciously offered me a referral to see Erik M. Ostler, M.D. I called his office and asked if I could make an appointment for tomorrow or any day this week. They asked me if I could come in today at 3:30pm. I looked at the clock in my Jeep and it read 2:30pm. As I tried to compose myself from the sudden shock of being told I could come right in, I said yes, I'll be right there, thank you so much! After a short wait in the waiting room my wife and I were taken back to an exam room. Lauren was so welcoming. She's not your typical nurse's assistant. She was extraordinarily kind and genuinely compassionate. With the way the World spins today, Lauren was a breathe of fresh air. The Golden Rule applies here and she's positively the perfect spokesperson to sell us all on it. She has a remarkable and cheerful attitude! Dr. Erik came in with an attitude that followed Lauren's. Extremely well spoken, kind and articulate. He listened to me and after a thorough examination, a treatment plan was agreed upon. A follow up will be with him tomorrow. I think I've just found my new eye doctor. Thank you Dr. Erik and Lauren. You're both miles above the bar that is set in most doctors offices here in Nampa. Well done! He explains everything he is doing and answers any questions I have. I wanted to try contacts and he worked with me until we found a pair that would work. I was having trouble putting them in and he personally helped me. The only thing that made me sad is when they went to normal hours and quit doing their long day. Location is great, easy to get to and plenty of parking. Their reception area is large and comfortable and the bathroom is clean. They don't mind you looking at frames while you are waiting. I buy my glasses from them and they are not pushy and explain all the options and costs before you order them so you know what you will pay. They have a selection that is big enough, but not so big you have to take a day off of work to find a pair. They give their opinions when you ask about the different lens options and what they are for.

I have 4 sets of Maui Jim sun glasses, yes I keep a pair for each car truck or boat. I wanted to replace the single lens of the pair I keep in my boat. Well their store policy is to only sell two lens even if the one lens is the same prescription. So, I told them their policy did not make sense. They went to the back room to see what they could do. I took this time to call the Maui Jim. I was told by the LAB at Maui Jim the sun glasses maker they could simple replace single lens in the pair of their glasses as long as the frames where in good shape. The price they gave me 780 dollars for two lens per pair. Keep in mind I only one lens changed.

We had already been to two other places in town to purchase eye glasses from and walked out. It felt like they were bothered that we showed up. We were told to look around at all of the frames and someone would be with us shortly. As we perused the displays, they really don't list the prices on their frames, just code numbers. We finally found a couple of frames and then we were greeted by their sales representative. Then here comes the craziness. To get all of the additional options for your eyeglasses, my cost was $990 for one single pair of glasses. Insurance did its job in getting me these glasses for free, but seriously folks, $990 for glasses? I bought a no nonsense pair of frames. They weren't even a famous brand name I recognized and they were $320. That just crazy, it's just plastic. Well, we were finally done. Now the bad news. It's going to take them 3 weeks to get my glasses made and sent to the store. That's way too long. Everywhere I've ever shopped in the past for eyewear has only taken them about 1 week to turnaround and get them back to me. 3 weeks is way too long to wait for eye glasses in my humble opinion. I'm on the fence here. This was our third stop for eye glasses. We almost walked here too, but we caved in and just wanted the madness to stop. We just wanted eyeglasses, nothing more, nothing less. I really can't recommend this facility. I wasn't really impressed at all with their service team or their selection of eyewear. They only seemed to carry overpriced name brand frames. And don't think you are going to find something really splashy or something trendy with a lot of color here. This was all middle of the road boring frames. Just because we get older doesn't mean we don't appreciate style and color. Parking was easy, this shop is in a medical building on the first floor. Get your wallet out, this place is very expensive if you don't have great insurance coverage!

I'm confident in saying that Six One Six is by far, one of the best vision care facilities I have ever been to. I came here because they were one of the few places that took my horrible vision insurance from a previous job I had. I finally moved companies and now have exceptional coverage, yet found no reason to switch providers, regardless of the abundance of in-network and closer vision options to me. I have never experienced any issues regarding care, appointments, communication or billing in the 4 years I've been a customer. In fact, I've experienced exceptionally personalized, professional and authentic care from day one. I've had the absolute pleasure of being Dr Shelby Strick's patient from the get-go and am consistently comforted by her attention to detail, assurance and easy-to-understand explanation on everything I'm experiencing.
