We ate as follows: Spicy/Salty Mushrooms - Divine Crispy Seaweed - Just as we remembered it Noodles with beansprouts - Fantastic, light and tasty Sea Bass with Ginger and Spring Onion - Divine, light and flaky Crispy Shredded Beef in Cantonese Sauce - Too much sauce, the beef was not crispy, the sauce was delicious but half the amount would have done and this is how we would order it next time. All washed down with cold sake and house white. Too much food for 2 but we ate it all! Service was flexible and friendly. The bill came to $85 - the quality was more than worth this.

When I knew I'd be heading to Blackpool and have solo time during which I wouldn't be heading to…read morerestaurants with others, I asked a friend to recommend some spots they'd eaten at and enjoyed. Ocean Palace was one of the three suggested. When I arrived at the large restaurant Saturday night around 6:00 p.m., the place was fairly empty -- one couple, one large family with kids. Normally, this would concern me -- crowds are an indicator of good food, especially at meal times, right? -- but since it was off-season, that was perhaps to be expected, and since I had that recommendation, I went for it. The servers were professional, and the food came quickly. I ordered hot and sour soup, roast duck with plum sauce, and fried rice. Funny thing -- I somehow expected the hot and sour soup to be different than the hot and sour soup I get back in the U.S., but I guess it's the same all over. I felt as if I was at home. The duck surprised me, though. I guess I expected a dry-roasted duck with sauce either on the side or drizzled over the slices, but instead, the slices of duck were sitting in a bowl of plum sauce. Not that I'm complaining ... I was just surprised. The meat was moist, the sauce lightly flavored, not overpowering the duck. I'd definitely go back to explore a little deeper into the menu when next in Blackpool.

I was in Liverpool to spend some time with family friends after visiting London. We planned to have…read moredinner here and supposedly is one of the better Chinese restaurants in Liverpool. The parking lot is quite large, so lots of parking spots available. There is also a supermarket located in the basement floor of the restaurant. Upon entering, I noticed it looked a bit dated. All of the lights are probably very, incredibly dusty... most likely hasn't been cleaned since the day they opened. Lots of lights, but still managed to have very dim lighting. We went for the 8 course dinner set, which you can choose 8 dishes to get out of the many dishes they offer for this set. Let me preface first that I am from Boston and definitely have had New England/Maine lobster BUT I honestly never realized how good our lobsters are. The ginger scallion stir fried lobster with yee mein was a generous portion, but taste wise I couldn't get down with it. The lobster has a bad aftertaste that kind of just lingers & the yee mein was not actually even yee mein... plus could've been more flavorful. The best dishes I found they had were the duck & the soup. I think it's quite difficult to mess up on both those dishes though, to be frank. The worst dish I had here was the chicken. Everyone at our table agreed that it was extremely dry & barely edible. Cleanliness: One thing that I am always looking for and super mindful of when I first sit down to eat at a restaurant is how clean are their utensils? How clean are the plates & bowls? etc. Plates were pretty dirty, bowls were fine for soup, & utensils-- it is a good thing they do single use wooden chopsticks. Overall, their food is not great but also good Chinese food in England is either really hard to find or doesn't exist. The Chinatown in Liverpool is a ghost town and looks abandoned , so my guess is that good, authentic Chinese food must be rare to come by.

Although we usually have more than just dim sum - ordering a few as well. Whether its a rice dish, noodle dish, maybe some veg too. The quality is always pretty good and the food comes quick. The restaurant has a car park which is handy as well as the large Chinese supermarket on the ground floor.

The food and service were excellent, from the moment we walked in to the beautiful classy decor we were taken care of by the very attentive staff. The banquet for 4 was delicious, there nothing we didnt like and we polished off the lot . The price was very reasonable for the 4 of us including a bottle of wine and other drinks, and I would highly recommend this classy Cantonese to others. I will be back when I am in the area without a doubt.

After we were made aware that it was a cantonese restaurant, we agreed we would try it out one night. The evening we visited was on a Sunday in April, the place was empty which put us off slightly as we seem to find that quiet places are not very popular, but we made the assumption that it was in fact the Easter weekend. The restaurant is nicely decorated and the sounds of Chinese music playing on the system is just about right to still have a conversation with the people you are dining with. I won't go into boring detail about the food, but it was delicious and cooked to perfection, we had 2 courses each and had no room for anything else. Two small suggestions would be to add toothpicks on the table, we had spare ribs for starters and had bits stuck between out teeth, also the packed hand wipes could be replaced by hot wet towels on a plate, this is not a criticism though, just a personal preference of mine. The staff are lovely, definitely service with a smile and made us feel very welcome, we have now been at least five times and the place has been a lot busier than our first time and if you need anything then all you need to do is look over to the service area and they are straight over. I wouldn't say Lou Shang was the best cantonese restaurant I have tried, but it definitely is in the top 1.
