I want to start off first by saying I don't usually write reviews but my visit here was way better…read morethan most places. From start to finish went very smoothly, I did not have a long wait despite not having an appointment compared to others. The lady's and Np Edielyn were very helpful and answered all my questions and concerns. They even helped in scheduling my Quest laboratory appointment! I have since recommended to my friends and family!

Goodness gracious! If not for the NP & nice MD, I would've given a lower review. They take early &…read morelate lunches, the 2-hr time gap that's supposed to accommodate it is BS. They tend to cut you off, ask you to wait a min, and ask you the same question when they circle back to you after you've been waiting on the line. I'd appreciate if they can give me a call back or have an online reservation system or Telehealth person I may see instead. To make your visit smooth, I'd come with a book while you wait. It's hard to book an appt because they won't answer the phone approximately 12-15 before or after their 2-hr lunch break. It's as if they work when they feel like it, not like they've bills to pay. Might as well do your best to be nice to your patients, not like we want to call or be here either. They also close early without notice so always come w/ an appt, if you can even get one. The nurse that helped me may have a case of ADD since she'd ask me the same question repeatedly, her eyes would keep darting out the door, & she'd converse w/ the other staff while I'm answering. Like, sis, I know you're bored but let me know when you're ready lol. I'd also bring evidence of your illness if there's any physical proof, otherwise you'd experience some pushback & leave feeling stupid, unheard, hopeless, & ashamed. You come in hoping to get your health needs met but leave feel like it was a waste of time & wished you'd never gone. I tend to be lenient since I understand how hard it is to work with patients & healthcare but my experience here has gotten worse over the years & I hardly need to visit.

Our family eventually stopped seeing him after 3 years of being under his care. We went to him because it was hard to find doctors who spoke Spanish in our area at the time. I'll start with the worst. My mom used to be really concerned for her health. Over time we realized her concerns were signs of what she's now developed, diverticulitis and other digestive issues. She often came in with pain and explained her concerns. Dr. Castellanos would tell my mom that she was fine and to take ibuprofen. Any time she came in it was the same thing even though her symptoms progressed - continue to take ibuprofen. Eventually she told my mom she was too worried and was a bother. We finally stopped going to see him when she used the restroom and found blood in her stool. She developed ulcers in her throat and stomach that were very painful when eating. After we stopped going to see him we found out all of her symptoms were the beginning of diverticulitis. In 2009 she ended up going to the ER because she was heavily bleeding when she used the bathroom. A diverticula had burst open and it was discovered she has 3 total that had developed. She was taken to emergency surgery. She's suffered through diverticulitis ever since with multiple ER visits. Dr. Castellanos was negligent as a doctor when presented with symptoms. He could have referred her to a gastroenterologist but never did. We had HMO at the time and eventually switched to PPO but it was after dealing with him. For my own case, I developed gastro issues around 12 and realized I had sensitivity to certain foods that lead to a lot of gas and odd noises in my intestines. I felt shy about it as a kid but was worried because I didn't want to sit in class having those noises come from my intestines because well... it was awkward. My side of the classroom could hear my gas issues and I didn't understand what was causing it. When I told him he blew me off and told me to eat more fiber. I didn't bother more about it or ask because I was too ashamed to ask more. Years later I realized I had food sensitivities and that I need to be careful to avoid dairy. All of this to say - I would absolutely NEVER recommend anyone to see Dr Castallanos. My mom could have sued him for negligence but decided not to. Seeing him still in practice now and talking to family about health made me 20 years later have to go back to write this.
