They tend to cut you off, ask you to wait a min, and ask you the same question when they circle back to you after you've been waiting on the line. I'd appreciate if they can give me a call back or have an online reservation system or Telehealth person I may see instead. To make your visit smooth, I'd come with a book while you wait. It's hard to book an appt because they won't answer the phone approximately 12-15 before or after their 2-hr lunch break. It's as if they work when they feel like it, not like they've bills to pay. Might as well do your best to be nice to your patients, not like we want to call or be here either. They also close early without notice so always come w/ an appt, if you can even get one. The nurse that helped me may have a case of ADD since she'd ask me the same question repeatedly, her eyes would keep darting out the door, & she'd converse w/ the other staff while I'm answering. Like, sis, I know you're bored but let me know when you're ready lol. I'd also bring evidence of your illness if there's any physical proof, otherwise you'd experience some pushback & leave feeling stupid, unheard, hopeless, & ashamed. You come in hoping to get your health needs met but leave feel like it was a waste of time & wished you'd never gone. I tend to be lenient since I understand how hard it is to work with patients & healthcare but my experience here has gotten worse over the years & I hardly need to visit.

Love Dr. Chen, But Front Office Needs Serious Improvement…read more Let me start by saying this review is not about Dr. Victoria Chen. She's been nothing but kind, patient, and understanding with my mother and me. She still has my full respect. This is about the front office receptionist, who has made our experience extremely frustrating. I've had three separate unpleasant encounters with her, and the lack of professionalism is shocking. My mother had a stroke in 2024 and finally got insurance after a long, stressful journey. From the start, we had issues--missed callbacks for urgent appointments, unanswered phones, and dismissive attitudes. During one visit, after waiting nearly an hour past a scheduled phone appointment, I showed up in person only to be told, "I guess you haven't called because I've been on the phone." The final straw was when I called to set up a phone visit with Dr. Chen, which the same receptionist confirmed. On the day of the appointment, she called asking if we were "coming in." When I reminded her it was supposed to be a phone call, she said, "We don't do phone calls," then laughed and hung up when I asked for a manager. I had to go to the office in person just to be taken seriously. Dr. Chen continues to be wonderful and professional, but her front office staff is unprofessional, dismissive, and completely lacks empathy. It's heartbreaking to see such poor communication in a medical setting, especially when patients like my mom have already been through so much. To make matters worse, the manager's response was just repeated apologies followed by blaming the situation on the weather, which was honestly shocking. It made the entire experience feel like a joke coming from a medical facility. I truly hope this gets addressed--because Dr. Chen deserves better support, and so do her patients.

Our family eventually stopped seeing him after 3 years of being under his care. We went to him because it was hard to find doctors who spoke Spanish in our area at the time. I'll start with the worst. My mom used to be really concerned for her health. Over time we realized her concerns were signs of what she's now developed, diverticulitis and other digestive issues. She often came in with pain and explained her concerns. Dr. Castellanos would tell my mom that she was fine and to take ibuprofen. Any time she came in it was the same thing even though her symptoms progressed - continue to take ibuprofen. Eventually she told my mom she was too worried and was a bother. We finally stopped going to see him when she used the restroom and found blood in her stool. She developed ulcers in her throat and stomach that were very painful when eating. After we stopped going to see him we found out all of her symptoms were the beginning of diverticulitis. In 2009 she ended up going to the ER because she was heavily bleeding when she used the bathroom. A diverticula had burst open and it was discovered she has 3 total that had developed. She was taken to emergency surgery. She's suffered through diverticulitis ever since with multiple ER visits. Dr. Castellanos was negligent as a doctor when presented with symptoms. He could have referred her to a gastroenterologist but never did. We had HMO at the time and eventually switched to PPO but it was after dealing with him. For my own case, I developed gastro issues around 12 and realized I had sensitivity to certain foods that lead to a lot of gas and odd noises in my intestines. I felt shy about it as a kid but was worried because I didn't want to sit in class having those noises come from my intestines because well... it was awkward. My side of the classroom could hear my gas issues and I didn't understand what was causing it. When I told him he blew me off and told me to eat more fiber. I didn't bother more about it or ask because I was too ashamed to ask more. Years later I realized I had food sensitivities and that I need to be careful to avoid dairy. All of this to say - I would absolutely NEVER recommend anyone to see Dr Castallanos. My mom could have sued him for negligence but decided not to. Seeing him still in practice now and talking to family about health made me 20 years later have to go back to write this.

But when I asked about myself, they told me "level of priority" which basically means if you don't have the money for an ambulance, laugh out loud! Ended up going to Queen of the Valley Hospital and guess what? They had me in a room with doctors within 10 minutes. Told me they'll run a CT scan on me if the one from Kaiser hasn't processed yet and even told me how long I was expected to wait for results. It wasn't surprising AT ALL when I saw other patients from Kaiser getting treated at Queen of the Valley. The staff at Kaiser in BP do not care. Playing games with people's time and lives.

Never again in my life will i go to this doctor. AVOID AT ALL COST!…read more First visit went by all so fast. No one explained to me what they were doing. It was sit here. Look at this. Can you hear this? Then when i was taken to the room i was asked to undress. When i asked why they told me it's part of the exam. Mind you i came in for a follow up from the ER visit for anxiety. I didn't undress and when the doctor came in instead of introducing himself he said and i quote "whoa you have too much clothes on what are you here for?" i tried to explain why i was there but he said he couldn't treat me until he gave me a complete physical exam. I was shocked. He then told me he wanted to do blood work which i agreed and then gave me a prescription for i don't know what and said he couldn't refill until i came back. I left pretty mad that day and it didn't help my anxiety. Jump forward to a week later. No one's called about my labs. I come in to get my records and they tell me they cannot release my records until i see the doctor. I told them that it is against the law to withhold my records from me and they give me another speech about seeing the doctor. At this point I'm mad. They then bring me to the back and start taking my vitals. I once again ask why they are doing this and they said i need to see the doctor. I again state i just want my records but they still won't release them. The doctor talks to me for 2mins and gives me another prescription and i finally get my records. I rarely…read morewrite complaints, but I need to get this down since I have decided to change my PCP because this guy is pretty negligent and doesn't really care. I've had panic attacks/anxiety for about 12 years and have taken propranolol and other anxiety medications for those 12 years. I started experiencing that "fluttering" sensation in my heart like I'm about to get a panic attack all the time recently and it was really messing up my life at work, unable to talk properly without sounding extremely nervous and unable to compose myself. I went to the office and asked for propranolol and he said that we had to do 2 things: do an ekg and put a holter (a heart monitor type thing) for a day. Ok, fine. So I did that, and I asked about the propranolol again and he said he had to go through those things first. Fine. I understand that propranolol affects the heart and maybe it's better to take precaution (although this had never been the case before whenever I was prescribed propranolol). I didn't know I was going to go through any of these procedures prior to entering the office so I ended up being late for work (the wait times there are pretty terrible for whatever reason), and I still didn't have any propranolol after I left with the holter so I spent the day trying to either bear through the panic attacks or just avoid panic inducing situations. The next day I went back to the office as early as possible (8am) to take the holter off and to see if I could get my medication. I was then berated for coming too early and I explained that I had been late for work and I didn't even know why I was wearing a holter or undergoing these procedures anyways for simply getting propranolol for panic attacks. Then he closed the door and simply told me that he wouldn't be seeing me (completely disregarding my reason for visit and the two days I had been there, my wait time, my condition, everything). So now I wasted two days, still no propranolol, and gotta change my Primary Care Physician because this guy simply doesn't care. Also, he sometimes makes inaccurate (and potentially dangerous) statements/assessments such as how he said Adderall was prescribed for Schizophrenia. His knowledge of psychotropic medication was all messed up (I was a psychology major plus all the experience in having these experiences with these disorders familiarized me with them). I swear he said that. If someone takes Adderall for Schizophrenia they might get psychosis. Long story short, maybe I did something wrong. Maybe I should have let him make the diagnosis and continued to wait forever as opposed to request what I knew would help me after 12 years of experience and trust myself instead of his application of Adderall. Maybe I was too patient or not patient enough or aggressive or not aggressive enough or maybe something's wrong with me. Or maybe I waited too long to change my physician.
