I cannot say enough wonderful things about Michele Caban at Kaiser Permanente Baldwin Park. My daughter recently suffered a dislocated patella and needed an MRI as soon as possible. As any parent can imagine, it was a stressful and urgent situation. Michele truly went above and beyond to help us during that time. She took it upon herself to search for the earliest available appointment and worked hard to find the closest and most convenient option for us. She didn't just do her job, she showed genuine care, urgency, and compassion. What stood out the most was how kind, patient, and reassuring she was throughout the entire process. Michele has such a warm and positive demeanor, it immediately put us at ease during a very difficult moment. Worst Kaiser ever. Go to Kaiser Sunset. First my mom was transferred to the ER room at this lactation. Found out they left her in a gurney and not even a hospital bed for 24 hours. I asked the nurse why they had her in the ER for over 24 hours? supposedly it was bc she had to see a specialist. I told the nurse I needed to see a patient advocate immediately or I'm calling an ombudsman. Guess what?!?!?? The specialist was in my mom's room in 10 mins and she got a bed within the hour. As my mom's time in the hospital increased she unfortunately had to be intubated and was taken to the ICU. The ICU had the worst nurses!!!! The second shift was the worst. If I wasn't in the hospital the nurses were not cleaning her or moving her. Literally, everyone I arrived my mom was dirty. I had to request for them to clean her. I once was there and the nurse was letting her personal phone ring numerous times and her ringtone was ridiculously loud. My mom was intubated and would be awaken my the nurses ringtone and become uncomfortable. I asked the nurses if they could please lower her ringtone. The other nurses are like well it's not our phone. I asked if they could just press the button on the phone to quiet the ringer. When I went in my mother's room the nurse rudely closed my mom's hospital room door. Yes, my mom could close her room but all the other patients' doors were open and could hear the noise. However, it was late and I was the only visitor on the ICU, so the other patients had no one to advocate for them. Another issue was it took a nurse like 20 minutes to take blood from her. Then she realized she left my mom's IV on and had to retake blood from her. So, it took her another 20 minutes. Then, she had to get more blood she got blood from my mom's other arm. That took so long that her second sample of blood coagulated, so she had to redo her blood draw! Get this!!!! My mom extubated herself!!!! First of all my mom arms were supposed be restrained to keep her from doing this. So, the nurses in the ICU didn't realize didn't restrain her. So, if you hate your love one send them to this Kaiser to be tortured. read more

My first time seeing Dr. Kimura, we have emailed back and forth, it has been 2 years, it was time. Dr. Kimura was very nice, warm, caring, personable, knowledgeable and knew my medical history. Dr. Kimura asked first do I have any questions ? Yes. He listened to me and my husband had a question too. Dr. Kimura answered our questions in detail and we talked about medications etc, blood work. Dr. Kimura ordered blood work and he again asked if we had anymore questions ? NO Dr. Kimura was very thorough and explained in detail. My husband and I thanked him and I am overwhelmed with gratitude for Dr. Kimura and his fabulous nurse. Please, please don't leave, don't retire young.! * If you are looking for a physician in Endocrinology then I highly recommend Dr. Kimura is fantastic.! You will not find anyone more caring, empathetic, easy to understand, knowledgeable.! We all hate to see the good doctors retire, they put in the time and effort and they deserve to retire. This has been my regular medical facility for the past several years and I love it! It's a huge campus, always busy, but you can take care of everything at one location, and once you learn the "patterns", you can avoid long lines for things like the pharmacy and labs. The staff is friendly and very efficient with getting you processed for whatever you need. The facility itself is usually very clean, and I love all the artwork throughout the campus, hallways, and offices. There's a huge parking garage, but it's busy so allow yourself a little extra time for parking and walking to your appointment. I recently had a hip replacement surgery which went so smoothly. Even the follow up appointment with x-rays was a breeze. The entire staff were very kind and super caring for my concerns. This campus is beautiful, including modern architecture, comfortable waiting areas, a lake, and exercise stations around the outdoor courtyards. They also have a remote Starbucks for your refreshment needs. read more

I contacted my doctor via a telephonic phone appointment to discuss prescribing an anxiety medication, as I will be flying to Florida in two weeks with my daughter's high school marching band, and I am not a fan of flying. A few years ago, I had a negative experience while flying through a lightning storm en route to Mexico City, and since then, I have avoided flying. Back to my doctor, while on my phone appointment, my doctor asked me a few questions about my anxiety, which we discussed, and he ended up prescribing a medication to calm my nerves before my scheduled flight. My doctor was excellent, understanding, and comforting; the pharmacy employees who helped me pick up my medication were helpful and friendly; and parking was a breeze. My experience with Kaiser during this instance and all of my previous contacts with Kaiser, for numerous reasons, always leave me grateful that I have Kaiser as my primary medical provider. read more

Kaiser Permanente is what happens when a corporation corners the healthcare market and then forgets the inconvenient detail of actually caring for patients. Kaiser is trash!! Doctors rush through appointments, which are often booked weeks out. It is as if there's a stopwatch ticking behind their eyes. Listening becomes optional, nuance is collateral damage, and basic standards of care are reduced to a speedy checklist. The pattern is unmistakable: you are processed, not treated. Phone interactions are routinely curt or dismissive. Staff interactions are often dismissive, and scheduled times are largely meaningless. I arrived 15 minutes early for a SCHEDULED MRI and was casually told the wait would be OVER two hours. This level of incompetence happened again for another scan. If waits regularly exceed 2 hours, calling it an "appointment" is cosplay. Why bother scheduling at all if time, the patient's time, is treated as infinitely expendable? Punctuality is enforced only in one direction, and it is never the institution's. Kaiser presents itself as an integrated healthcare system, but functions more like an overextended, understaffed, poorly managed building masquerading as a hospital. I don't need perfection. Stopped by on Saturday, 01/18/25 for my Optometry (Vision Essentials) appointment. I believe this is the only Vision Essentials location (near Pomona) that's open on Saturdays, hence the crowded, busy lines. Baldwin Park Medical Center and the Medical Office Building (MOB) is probably one of the largest KP facilities in SoCal. There is also a Thrive Path, which is essentially a walking pathway encouraging members and visitors to WALK! Additionally, there is a playground site for the kiddos and also a beautiful pond filled with cute ducks. Overall, a spectacular view. There is also a cafeteria that sells Starbucks coffee. There is also a Starbucks store near the pond area. I ordered a warm matcha latte and the matcha powder wasn't mixed properly. If you're driving the 10 East or West, you can see this amazing place. read more

The emergency room needs to be updated. It's ridiculous how small it is and outdated. Compare ER to their urgent care huge difference. I never thought I would have a bad experience but even the quality of care was horrible. I was there from 12:30-4:30 and only got triage, I guess I was low priority but still at least they could have run blood work or something. Declining Service: This once was a great place to seek medical services but over the years I've watched its decline. While there are great doctors and nurses there are the bottom feeders. I currently have a medication history chart that disappeared & having to go to urgent care because I'm having respiratory trouble with cold and flu season peaking. Additionally, my husband who was seen by a NP because his PHCP is never available assumed my husbands actions, and stated "you have unrealistic expectations" this doctor also was sick! as in had or was currently getting over laryngitis by the way they sounded and wearing a mask. They were about to discharge my husband without examining him! He had to ask, and several times cut off my husband from explaining. Dismissed him. My husband still has hearing loss and issues and he works at an airport!!!! Didn't even take aggressive measures by offering a referral to an ENT. Would you want your pilot or air crew who can't hear operating your planes because a doctor who clearly wasn't feeling well dismissed listening to a patient. This outlandish behavior needs to stop and patients have to be able to notify problems to hold these service providers accountable. read more

Because of Kaiser's prime example of corporate greed and non-urgent mindset to care for their "members" and their employees, I have had to seek out care outside of the Kaiser network to care for my 13 year old with flu symptoms this week. Not only has their ER and urgent care been full, but if we were ever callled to be seen, waiting for lab work and picking up medication would have also been a monstrosity! Kaiser is a hit or miss. For the most part, expect long wait times for the pharmacy since they are open 24/7. This is one of the bigger facilities in which I've received wonderful care before. Parking is a nightmare! Allow 20 extra minutes to find a spot. Buildings are not labeled very well. If it's your first visit, add Another 10 mins to find the correct building and office. Kaiser is convenient since all services are offered on the same campus. Fridays they have a GREAT farmers market and maybe this contributed to the increased traffic. From our first born to our youngest bundle of joy. 6/5 The Labor and Delivery Department is by far one of the best! The staff is amazing! They've made each delivery go as smoothly as can be expected. My wife and I are very grateful for the entire staff. You get to press the button once your newborn baby has arrived and it plays in the main hospital building for all to hear just like the Best Way to Spread Baby Cheer, is Singing Loud for All to Hear (thanks Elf). 3.5/5 Pediatrics the Doctors and nurses are wonderful with kids. That's the best part of the department are the nurses and Dr G. Unfortunately, sometimes it's just getting to them from the appointment line that takes forever. We came 15-20 minutes early and still had to wait over an hour. They do have after hours Urgent care which is great way for your little one to stay away from the general public and get care from the nurses and doctors who seem them on a regular basis. 1.5/5 Parking is difficult at this place. Whether you going in for an appointment or having a baby it's hard to find find a spot. In coming at night and early mornings for labor and delivery there never seems to be an expectant mother's spot. I constantly see people who aren't expecting park in these spots. I wish they would place cones on those spots to keep them available for those in need. 5/5 oncology department helped both my parents during their treatments and surgery. More like a 2.5 but I'm rounding up. Big W's are that they're very integrated into their app ecosystem, at least physically at the Kaiser location. It's been impossible for me to normally book appointments though. I had to go to urgent care but ended up doing a whole ass 9-5 there... I guess my case wasn't as urgent as I thought it was. To be fair, everything went by super smoothly until I got to the CT scan part of the tests that they had to run for me. Checking into the urgent care and meeting with the provider, getting my blood work, checking into various departments went by quite smoothly. It's like the DMV on steroids to be honest, you'll see your name on the board, get a text message, sometimes they'll call you on the intercom when it's your turn, a really well oiled machine if everything goes by quick enough. I waited 4 hours for my CT scan when the actual procedure itself was only 15 minutes. Almost 2 hours in the waiting room and then another almost 2 hours after I've changed into my gown. People called in the same time with me were done way before me, even for the same test. Sucks, but it is what it is. I was never uncomfortable at any point even with blood drawn and IV with contrast put in me. All healthcare providers were professional and informative, showing enough care in the short time period that I got to see them for. The outside is really nice with the fountains and you can mobile order at the Starbucks on site too. read more

They almost screwed that up because they couldn't communicate properly with each other. Shitty customer care since they just hang up on you and demand you talk the way they want you to talk. They're trying to charge me by saying that they never received my payment or have no record of my payment. Even though I look in the app it says paid in full. Got insurance for Kaiser through work and overall my experience here has been good with OBGYN and pediatrics. There was some initial confusion with insurance and medical records in the beginning when my kid was born but once you fit in their highly organized system...then it's fine. If you're outside that then it can be hard to find the right help. My experience with primary care has been a hit or miss and sometimes requesting a second opinion has been helpful. The appointments are usually on time and this campus has a nice fountain and outdoor track to walk. The cafeteria food though honestly looks terrible. read more

It's nice to finally go to a Kaiser and that people are helpful. When I arrived, there were no one at the information desk. All I knew was that a family member was on a certain floor. So when I arrived, I asked one of the nurses, and she was attentive. She was friendly, and great at giving directions. As for my family member being treated, the nurses taking care of her were amazing. They would stop in about every hour to check and make sure didn't need anything. Also, it was great that they have vendors for the staff to purchase fresh fruit, a variety of food and drinks. Like a mini supply of farmers market at the hospital. A+ read more

I want to like Kaiser Permanente. The medical staff has been consistently kind and caring and for that, I'm truly grateful. However, the systemic policies and procedures in place at Kaiser have made it incredibly difficult for me to feel safe or properly cared for as a patient with Type 1 Diabetes. On Thursday, July 24, 2025, I was discharged from Kaiser. Within an hour, I was back in the emergency room this time not at a Kaiser facility due to diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA). This incident was the direct result of not receiving my scheduled insulin dose at lunch and being served pasta, a carbohydrate-heavy meal that should not have been offered under a diabetic diet plan. It's alarming that pasta is even an option for someone with my condition, especially while hospitalized. Foothill Hospital stabilized me (for the second time that week, the first being from July 21st to July 23rd), and only when I was approaching discharge did Kaiser request my transfer back. Due to the prior insulin error and how it had already impacted my health, I expressed to the Kaiser case manager, Ingrid, that I did not feel safe returning and preferred to remain at Foothill and be discharged against medical advice (AMA). In response, I was informed that if I chose to go AMA, my Kaiser membership would be terminated immediately, and I would be financially responsible for my stay, a statement that felt coercive and unethical. Under pressure and fearing the financial repercussions, I agreed to transfer back to Kaiser. Since returning, my anxiety has only worsened. I have experienced full-blown panic attacks, and my blood pressure has remained dangerously elevated. To make matters worse, the insulin protocol at Kaiser continues to be deeply concerning. This morning, after eating breakfast at 8:30 AM, I did not receive my insulin until 11:30 AM a three-hour delay that contradicts the standard of care for someone with Type 1 Diabetes. Which is medically inappropriate for a patient with my condition, especially after already having two DKA episodes in the same week. This has been one of the most terrifying healthcare experiences I've ever had. As someone with a serious autoimmune condition, I felt that my health -- and life -- were put at risk due to systemic NEGLECT and a lack of understanding around diabetes care. If you have an autoimmune disease, particularly Type 1 Diabetes, I strongly urge you to reconsider seeking care through Kaiser Permanente. The risks are simply too high. read more
