I want to like Kaiser Permanente. The medical staff has been consistently kind and caring and for that, I'm truly grateful. However, the systemic policies and procedures in place at Kaiser have made it incredibly difficult for me to feel safe or properly cared for as a patient with Type 1 Diabetes. On Thursday, July 24, 2025, I was discharged from Kaiser. Within an hour, I was back in the emergency room this time not at a Kaiser facility due to diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA). This incident was the direct result of not receiving my scheduled insulin dose at lunch and being served pasta, a carbohydrate-heavy meal that should not have been offered under a diabetic diet plan. It's alarming that pasta is even an option for someone with my condition, especially while hospitalized. Foothill Hospital stabilized me (for the second time that week, the first being from July 21st to July 23rd), and only when I was approaching discharge did Kaiser request my transfer back. Due to the prior insulin error and how it had already impacted my health, I expressed to the Kaiser case manager, Ingrid, that I did not feel safe returning and preferred to remain at Foothill and be discharged against medical advice (AMA). In response, I was informed that if I chose to go AMA, my Kaiser membership would be terminated immediately, and I would be financially responsible for my stay, a statement that felt coercive and unethical. Under pressure and fearing the financial repercussions, I agreed to transfer back to Kaiser. Since returning, my anxiety has only worsened. I have experienced full-blown panic attacks, and my blood pressure has remained dangerously elevated. To make matters worse, the insulin protocol at Kaiser continues to be deeply concerning. This morning, after eating breakfast at 8:30 AM, I did not receive my insulin until 11:30 AM a three-hour delay that contradicts the standard of care for someone with Type 1 Diabetes. Which is medically inappropriate for a patient with my condition, especially after already having two DKA episodes in the same week. This has been one of the most terrifying healthcare experiences I've ever had. As someone with a serious autoimmune condition, I felt that my health -- and life -- were put at risk due to systemic NEGLECT and a lack of understanding around diabetes care. If you have an autoimmune disease, particularly Type 1 Diabetes, I strongly urge you to reconsider seeking care through Kaiser Permanente. The risks are simply too high. read more

Emergency Room Services were poor. Lack of available providers to care for patients. Took five hours a for provider to assess my child in the E.R. Yes, FIVE hours. It would of been helpful to be informed E.R can't provide any services to children until after 5:00pm. I have never waited this long at any E.R and I've been to county/Enmante/Queen of the Valley. No updates, felt like you were forgotten. I had to ask and make sure my child's name wasn't removed. Services were not up to standards. I will avoid returning here at all cost. If it means going to another city and or going out of Kaiser. Disappointing. read more

I had an extremely disturbing experience at this hospital. A staff member (who I will not name publicly--for now) brought me a water with a phlegm in my water. Yes, spit. When confronted, she nervously denied it and continued to lie, even though it was obvious she had been caught. This is not just a health violation--it's completely disrespectful and dangerous. The fact that she got nervous shows she knew what she did was wrong, yet instead of taking accountability. Patients come here to feel safe and be cared for, not disrespected and deceived. I will be reporting this incident to higher authorities and strongly urge others to think twice before trusting this facility with your health or the health of your loved ones. read more

I brought my loved one here for a MD appointment and was seen in a timely fashion. At the time the PA gave orders for labs and a CT scan and it was taken care of quickly. Once at the lab we had an issue and brought to the ER ASAP. We got through the admission process right away and he was cared for by the nurses immediately. It was not only amazing to see how quickly they took care of my loved one but also caring they were. They have communicated effectively and transparently. Would recommend them anytime. read more

I come here for my standard checkups and usually have a regular experience. This time I was told to go to the 3rd floor of the medical building. I checked in via phone and waited in my respective waiting room to be told later they changed my Dr. to be on the 2nd floor so had to go down there because they were looking for me. Turns out the Dr. also thought he was on the 3rd floor too so there was definitely some confusion and such a waste of like 20 minutes. Overall basic procedures and nothing to really complain. The hospital has construction going on again and the main entrance to the parking structure was closed. They should consider doing the construction at night. the only reason I am giving 3 stars is because of nurse nancy in the emergency. I was being discharged already but due to my symptoms and the fact that I kept tremoring like I was having a seizure she kept touching base with the doctor and he ran more test. She's the reason I was admitted.. she was part of the team that saved my life. I am so grateful that she kept listening to me and paid attention to how my body was tremoring, because I probably wouldn't be here today. read more

Me and my family of 5 have been paying ridiculous premiums for YEARS! For a level of care which we initially enjoyed. These last few years have been horrible. The employees make better money than any other hospital or clinics etc, but feel so entitled to more raises they have literally expressed their unhappiness with us, the patient. From a NURSE telling my pregnant wife that she did not have a stent & to go home. To confirming with a DOCTOR & by a stent on a string hanging from her, that she did in fact have one! To now, TODAY, telling her she could not breastfeed for 24 hours. TODAY the day of her procedure. After 4 months of WAITING. Probably one of the worst Kaiser's I've ever been to in my life. The pediatric department does not care about children with special needs. I highly suggest any parent with a child of special needs to get a referral at a different location. The doctors and behavioral department started to let my son down at the age of three and he's about to be eight. They continue not to give him any type of services that would help his developmental growth. The behavioral department continuously holds my son back from services that he needs. The behavioral department here at Baldwin Park is not compassionate for special needs. This department continues to lose paperwork and have extensive wait list. I can't tell you how much Kaiser pediatric & behavioral department has affected me and my son's developmental growth. I cannot wait to no longer have any more services at this location. They have treated my son with nothing but disrespect. I wish I could give them zero stars. read more

The staff is unprofessional in the ER. It's bad when they don't know the difference between a scratch and a puncture wound. They shouldn't work in a profession where they have to deal with people if they are miserable. I get an ER can get busy but if you don't know how to treat people then look for a different profession. They call your name once expecting you to jump up and answer immediately as they are walking out to the hallway. After almost three hours the nurse called us in. We could barely hear him. However, he seemed nice and appeared to be wanting to help. perception is key. Update: The doctor was very professional. The nurses that came in to treat the wound were awesome. I arrived (6:20 pm) almost an hour before my 7:00 pm appointment and they have an overly extended wait time. what is the point of making an appointment?? This is my go-to Kaiser location - been visiting when needed for many years now. All our primary doctors are here - and I've visited several specialists, as well as the lab, pharmacy, optometrist, physical therapy department, and most recently I had an encounter with their urgent care department. All the staff have always treated me extremely well - very compassionate and respectful. I had one PT visit after I broke my ankle last year and my therapist Laura was just awesome! She taught me everything I needed and did such a great job that I didn't even need another visit. My nurse in the urgent care two days ago was absolutely wonderful! I stepped on rusty nail and needed a tetanus shot - she was so skilled my shot didn't even hurt. I saw the PA - Mr. Jeudine - he was very caring and professional. The reception staff were all also excellent. My wait time was just over an hour which is the fastest I've ever been seen in any Kaiser urgent care. I've always found this particular facility immaculate and spotless - even in the public restrooms. They have a Starbucks on site with a lovely courtyard that has a large fountain and pond full of ducks - and FUN FACT - the courtyard was used in the movie Starship Troopers lol! This is also the last hospital I worked at before I officially hung up my nurse hat for good haha! So I've seen it from both sides of the curtains - and I've always appreciated how Kaiser focuses on preventative care to keep people healthy and avoid problems - instead of just treating health issues after they develop. Masking is no longer mandatory. They have numerous parking garages and lots of maps and signs everywhere so it's pretty easy to get around the large complex. They're not perfect - but they're definitely a solid choice for almost any medical care needs. read more

I've had multiple frustrating experiences with Kaiser, especially regarding the care my mom has received. It's clear that many of the doctors are more focused on clocking in and out than actually caring for their patients. It often feels like they're just going through the motions to finish their rotations, rather than providing the attention and quality care that patients deserve. The imaging department has been just as disappointing. We waited over a month to get results for an X-ray, and when I asked why it was taking so long, The doctor told us that many people were "on leave." On another occasion, we waited 25 minutes past our scheduled MRI appointment time. I eventually had to go find someone myself just to get help. The excuse is always the same "lots of call outs" or "staff on leave" but in my opinion, that should be accounted for in their scheduling to prevent delays and patient frustration. I understand that things can get busy, but if staffing issues are a known problem, they really need to plan accordingly which I'm sure they know ..they just don't care! They definitely missed the whole point. As a healthcare provider, I expected them to prioritize patient care. read more

I had an excellent experience at Kaiser's Urgent Care in Baldwin Park tonight. I was lucky that it was fairly quiet, but the staff and treatment were first rate. After coming down with fever and chills for unknown reason, I first thought it must be the flu, but when I tested negative several times, I called the Kaiser Video Nurse service (great service), and she suspected it was a kidney infection, and recommended tests and treatment as soon as possible, So we headed over to Baldwin Park rather than the closer Pasadena office (Hey, Kaiser, please straighten out your opening times and services offered for the various urgent care stations!!), since we knew they would have a lab open. From the first check-in, the staff were phenomenal: helpful, cheerful, thoughtful, and efficient. I got my antibiotic shot I needed urgently, my prescription, and the doctor took my labs and said she would call me tonight if there were issues (rather than making me wait around for several hours more). There may be a lot of complaints about busy ER and Urgent Care at Kaiser, but that wasn't my experience this time. If it had been busier, it would have taken longer... them's the breaks (and they do triage the most urgent cases before people with less severe complaints, which will annoy you if you're feeling bad, but it's the only rational way to run the clinic). In the end, though, it was the people tonight who made the difference: they were all great. read more

This bad review is for the valet parking staff. I'm only putting two stars because the hospital staff were very friendly and helpful but those valet drivers were completely unprofessional and ruined the whole experience. Also why is the only option to park for the ER to valet park your car?! Last night I had to take my baby to the hospital and as I was pulling up every space was blocked for valet parking. The staff then comes up to me rolling his eyes and as I was about to roll down my window he started saying sarcastically "hello?!?! roll down your window so I can talk to you" he then asked why I'm there I tell him my daughter needs to go to the ER and then wonders if she's in the car with me. He then takes his time explaining to get the yellow card stamp and tells me to wait for parking because a lady was grabbing her keys to leave, mind you there is plenty of empty parking spaces but I bet they were too lazy to move a cone for me. So they had me wait about 10 mins for this lady to move because she also took her time, not that I'm blaming her because they should've accounted for that and just moved the cone because I'm obviously there for an emergency for crying out loud. Once I finally park and went to grab my baby from the car I handed my keys to a different staff and after he inspected my car and gave me my ticket he then asked for my car keys...I told him I already gave it to him and he looked at the key fob in his hands and told me "oh this is your car keys?" Like what kind of rude incompetent staff are you hiring here? After leaving the only competent one was the one who took over after 9pm last night but those other two were a joke! read more

I would ask what the status was and they kept saying they were busy and that they would put us in when their rooms available. We wound up leaving because the care was terrible ! read more

Today, they had to call a code assist for me. I was coming back from my break and I was walking into the break room, someone had left a bunch of latex balloons on the table in the break room. I thought Kaiser was a latex free facility! I am allergic to latex! I immediately turned around (which was just a little too late) and exited the break room. I could feel my throat clothes and I was gasping for air. The code team arrived very quickly. They assess the situation and got me to the emergency room quickly. Came here for my annual checkup and can't say enough great things about the facilities and parking. However, the doctors and communications from the doctors are not always the greatest. I had an appointment scheduled for couple months and then suddenly my appointment was cancelled and notified via the app couple days before the appointment. Care quality is usually pretty good but communication is a mess. read more

My daughter just had my second grandson and delivered at this hospital on Halloween! She hoped it would not be on this day, but there was a higher calling. The hospital is reatively clean and sanitary, but the nursing staff might need a little more bedside manners when removing bandages, as one of the nurses pulled skin off, which hurt like the dickens! Fortunately, it'll heal, but the hospital really wants to get patients In and Out, like their neighboring hamburger giant headquartered in Baldwin Park. I am always satisfied with having Dr. Deramerian as a physician b/c I know he won't let his patients leave the ER wo the proper care we need & most importantly he doesn't let his patients leave wo prescribed medication.! Nurses are excellent but you are screwed if you are in the ER with Dr dicky shah. The dept director. He talks down to people and doesn't treat the patient. He also lies in people's charts. I didn't realize till I got home how he stated I was asking for narcotics only. I was embarrassed going to my next appointment until my regular Dr told me to not worry, he knows my personality better than what was written. My appt was at 1125. Didn't get called in until 1145. Normal for them to not be on time. That's every office though, right? I had to come here cuz they cancelled My ob appt for the 2nd time over at the San dimas office and I wanted to get my appt in to speak with someone about my concerns. The lady was able to make me another same day appt, but only here at Baldwin park. I honestly hate coming here. It's overcrowded, parking sucks and its a long freaking walk and the service from receptionist aren't the warmest. They seem like robots here. No personality or friendliness. It rubs me the wrong way. I try to make appts away from the BP offices if I can help it. The set up is horrendous with the parking structure. I feel bad for anyone that has problems walking. There is never enough handicap parking here either. It's just a mess. Facilities look nice, but the headache of trying to find parking alone keeps me away. The care here is not bad, but again, just trying to get here is crazy. My main provider and OB are out of this office but I rarely see them due to lack of appts. I don't leave reviews but I need to leave one. My nurse was great. The doctor I had in urgent care was awful. I think his name was Lin. I came in trying to get a diagnosis for 3 straight days of 102 degree fever and he was in such a hurry to get off he said to me. "Idk. Could be a virus or an infection. Idk. But my best guess it's either or". Ok dick. We dont pay a shit ton of money for your best guess. He sad the same thing to the lady in the bay across from me. These doctors need to be held to a higher standard. Are we a third world country now? It's a rant but it might help you get better treatments and diagnosis somewhere else. read more

I was visiting as a visitor but it turned into a appointment after the consult. Dr. Ivan Garcia was very gracious to accept me on the spot as there just so happen to be a cancellation. Dr. Garcia was able to determine that I had lateral epicondylitis. So, I ended up receiving an injection of lidocaine and some care instructions. Excellent care of service on Kaisers part. Then you're told it will be another 30-45 minutes! I just left without my prescription tonight. In addition it's like a needle in a haystack to find a great doctor. I had to go to Urgent Care yesterday for a knee injury and the staff was great. Vanessa Garcia helped me and she was great. Dr. Baker examed me, got x-rays done, and got me an appointment to see an orthopedist. They even got me a new brace that fit better my old one. I'm greatful for the staff and their efficiency for getting me in and out of urgent care the fastest I've experienced. read more
