However, this place claims walk-ins are welcome but will close long before said closing time. This was why I'd rather have an appt. I had to drive back 3x from Monterey Park just for a simple TB test & found their gates locked. The receptionist said they've a 2-hr lunch break & stop having providers & walk-ins at 3:30pm. Must be nice! I came around 2:30pm & they were still closed. The most weird hours I've ever experienced & am slowly developing trust issues with doctor's office & might as well test positive for everything if I can even get a test. I'd have let it slide if I didn't need it for work. Since I switched from Healthnet to LA Care, Dr. Terry Lee has been my primary doc. When they switched from the Francisquito location to Ramona, they failed to notify me when I set the appt & didn't offer an apology. In these cases, it's better to pay the big bucks & get your tests done than dealing with these experiences. Doctors offices are supposed to be open at reasonable hours & something you can count on. It's a nah for me, fam.

Was given a prescription to maintain my existing medication and was not told its a a one time refill and that I would need to setup an additional appointment to get a full 1 year prescription. I feel that this was a blatant attempt to run up fees. I would have gone to a different provider and had all the appointments setup at once instead of string along care.

Love Dr. Chen, But Front Office Needs Serious Improvement…read more Let me start by saying this review is not about Dr. Victoria Chen. She's been nothing but kind, patient, and understanding with my mother and me. She still has my full respect. This is about the front office receptionist, who has made our experience extremely frustrating. I've had three separate unpleasant encounters with her, and the lack of professionalism is shocking. My mother had a stroke in 2024 and finally got insurance after a long, stressful journey. From the start, we had issues--missed callbacks for urgent appointments, unanswered phones, and dismissive attitudes. During one visit, after waiting nearly an hour past a scheduled phone appointment, I showed up in person only to be told, "I guess you haven't called because I've been on the phone." The final straw was when I called to set up a phone visit with Dr. Chen, which the same receptionist confirmed. On the day of the appointment, she called asking if we were "coming in." When I reminded her it was supposed to be a phone call, she said, "We don't do phone calls," then laughed and hung up when I asked for a manager. I had to go to the office in person just to be taken seriously. Dr. Chen continues to be wonderful and professional, but her front office staff is unprofessional, dismissive, and completely lacks empathy. It's heartbreaking to see such poor communication in a medical setting, especially when patients like my mom have already been through so much. To make matters worse, the manager's response was just repeated apologies followed by blaming the situation on the weather, which was honestly shocking. It made the entire experience feel like a joke coming from a medical facility. I truly hope this gets addressed--because Dr. Chen deserves better support, and so do her patients.

Our family eventually stopped seeing him after 3 years of being under his care. We went to him because it was hard to find doctors who spoke Spanish in our area at the time. I'll start with the worst. My mom used to be really concerned for her health. Over time we realized her concerns were signs of what she's now developed, diverticulitis and other digestive issues. She often came in with pain and explained her concerns. Dr. Castellanos would tell my mom that she was fine and to take ibuprofen. Any time she came in it was the same thing even though her symptoms progressed - continue to take ibuprofen. Eventually she told my mom she was too worried and was a bother. We finally stopped going to see him when she used the restroom and found blood in her stool. She developed ulcers in her throat and stomach that were very painful when eating. After we stopped going to see him we found out all of her symptoms were the beginning of diverticulitis. In 2009 she ended up going to the ER because she was heavily bleeding when she used the bathroom. A diverticula had burst open and it was discovered she has 3 total that had developed. She was taken to emergency surgery. She's suffered through diverticulitis ever since with multiple ER visits. Dr. Castellanos was negligent as a doctor when presented with symptoms. He could have referred her to a gastroenterologist but never did. We had HMO at the time and eventually switched to PPO but it was after dealing with him. For my own case, I developed gastro issues around 12 and realized I had sensitivity to certain foods that lead to a lot of gas and odd noises in my intestines. I felt shy about it as a kid but was worried because I didn't want to sit in class having those noises come from my intestines because well... it was awkward. My side of the classroom could hear my gas issues and I didn't understand what was causing it. When I told him he blew me off and told me to eat more fiber. I didn't bother more about it or ask because I was too ashamed to ask more. Years later I realized I had food sensitivities and that I need to be careful to avoid dairy. All of this to say - I would absolutely NEVER recommend anyone to see Dr Castallanos. My mom could have sued him for negligence but decided not to. Seeing him still in practice now and talking to family about health made me 20 years later have to go back to write this.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Michele Caban at Kaiser Permanente Baldwin Park…read more My daughter recently suffered a dislocated patella and needed an MRI as soon as possible. As any parent can imagine, it was a stressful and urgent situation. Michele truly went above and beyond to help us during that time. She took it upon herself to search for the earliest available appointment and worked hard to find the closest and most convenient option for us. She didn't just do her job, she showed genuine care, urgency, and compassion. What stood out the most was how kind, patient, and reassuring she was throughout the entire process. Michele has such a warm and positive demeanor, it immediately put us at ease during a very difficult moment. It's rare to come across someone who combines efficiency with such a high level of empathy. Kaiser is incredibly lucky to have Michele on their team. She is the kind of person who makes a lasting impression and truly represents what exceptional patient care should look like. I sincerely hope her dedication and kindness are recognized, she absolutely deserves it. Thank you Michele for making a stressful situation so much easier for our family. We are so grateful for you !

I asked the nurse why they had her in the ER for over 24 hours? supposedly it was bc she had to see a specialist. I told the nurse I needed to see a patient advocate immediately or I'm calling an ombudsman. Guess what?!?!?? The specialist was in my mom's room in 10 mins and she got a bed within the hour. As my mom's time in the hospital increased she unfortunately had to be intubated and was taken to the ICU. The ICU had the worst nurses!!!! The second shift was the worst. If I wasn't in the hospital the nurses were not cleaning her or moving her. Literally, everyone I arrived my mom was dirty. I had to request for them to clean her. I once was there and the nurse was letting her personal phone ring numerous times and her ringtone was ridiculously loud. My mom was intubated and would be awaken my the nurses ringtone and become uncomfortable. I asked the nurses if they could please lower her ringtone. The other nurses are like well it's not our phone. I asked if they could just press the button on the phone to quiet the ringer. When I went in my mother's room the nurse rudely closed my mom's hospital room door. Yes, my mom could close her room but all the other patients' doors were open and could hear the noise. However, it was late and I was the only visitor on the ICU, so the other patients had no one to advocate for them. Another issue was it took a nurse like 20 minutes to take blood from her. Then she realized she left my mom's IV on and had to retake blood from her. So, it took her another 20 minutes. Then, she had to get more blood she got blood from my mom's other arm. That took so long that her second sample of blood coagulated, so she had to redo her blood draw! Get this!!!! My mom extubated herself!!!! First of all my mom arms were supposed be restrained to keep her from doing this. So, the nurses in the ICU didn't realize didn't restrain her. So, if you hate your love one send them to this Kaiser to be tortured.

I've had panic attacks/anxiety for about 12 years and have taken propranolol and other anxiety medications for those 12 years. I started experiencing that "fluttering" sensation in my heart like I'm about to get a panic attack all the time recently and it was really messing up my life at work, unable to talk properly without sounding extremely nervous and unable to compose myself. I went to the office and asked for propranolol and he said that we had to do 2 things: do an ekg and put a holter (a heart monitor type thing) for a day. Ok, fine. So I did that, and I asked about the propranolol again and he said he had to go through those things first. Fine. I understand that propranolol affects the heart and maybe it's better to take precaution (although this had never been the case before whenever I was prescribed propranolol). I didn't know I was going to go through any of these procedures prior to entering the office so I ended up being late for work (the wait times there are pretty terrible for whatever reason), and I still didn't have any propranolol after I left with the holter so I spent the day trying to either bear through the panic attacks or just avoid panic inducing situations. The next day I went back to the office as early as possible (8am) to take the holter off and to see if I could get my medication. I was then berated for coming too early and I explained that I had been late for work and I didn't even know why I was wearing a holter or undergoing these procedures anyways for simply getting propranolol for panic attacks. Then he closed the door and simply told me that he wouldn't be seeing me (completely disregarding my reason for visit and the two days I had been there, my wait time, my condition, everything). So now I wasted two days, still no propranolol, and gotta change my Primary Care Physician because this guy simply doesn't care. Also, he sometimes makes inaccurate (and potentially dangerous) statements/assessments such as how he said Adderall was prescribed for Schizophrenia. His knowledge of psychotropic medication was all messed up (I was a psychology major plus all the experience in having these experiences with these disorders familiarized me with them). I swear he said that. If someone takes Adderall for Schizophrenia they might get psychosis. Long story short, maybe I did something wrong. Maybe I should have let him make the diagnosis and continued to wait forever as opposed to request what I knew would help me after 12 years of experience and trust myself instead of his application of Adderall. Maybe I was too patient or not patient enough or aggressive or not aggressive enough or maybe something's wrong with me. Or maybe I waited too long to change my physician.
