I bought a house with an old pool that the realtor said "just needed a new liner" . I didn't really…read morecare that she was wrong because I already planned on renovating the entire property, and I'm very fortunate that I ended up choosing Gus Pools. I did my research and interviewed a few pool builders (there aren't many options in NYC), and I confidently went with Pete & Pat. What stood out immediately was how sincere and honest they were with their advice about my backyard. Initially, I had a lot of bells and whistles in mind--which, honestly, would have meant more money for them. Instead, Gus Pools actually talked me out of several things. They explained that some of them really weren't necessary, but told me that if I insisted, they would still do them. Thankfully, I took their advice because the pool came out amazing, and I ultimately realized I didn't need any of that extra stuff. Once we finalized the plans, the rest was a breeze. Everything was done on schedule, and they were honestly no bother at all. They went straight to the backyard and rarely needed anything from us. One thing I really appreciated was how well they coordinated with Middle Village Construction and Breezy Electric. Bonnie was always happy (and patient!) to take our calls (sometimes there were many ) and give us updates on the project. To be transparent, Gus Pools recommended Middle Village Construction, and their quote for the pavers was comparable to the other contractors I spoke with, so I went with their recommendation. It ended up being a great decision because everyone was able to coordinate seamlessly. I also used my own electrician, Breezy Electric, and Gus Pools were just as professional when he had questions about the pool construction, lighting, and grounding. That kind of communication between contractors made the entire project so much easier. All in all, if you're contemplating making a major investment in a pool, just go with these guys. You won't be disappointed. And now, two years later, I can say that the service has been just as good. They continue to service my pool, including opening and closing it, and they've helped with any issues or mishaps along the way. They keep records of your warranties, equipment, hardware, etc., which makes things much easier down the road. At one point, I had an issue with one of the pumps and Bonnie promptly set up service. Pat came by and fixed it at no charge. That says a lot about the kind of company they are. For anyone complaining that they don't service pools they didn't build, take it from someone who had more than 10 different people come out to look at and potentially renovate my old pool. It's difficult to take over someone else's build, know exactly how everything was installed, and then be expected to stand behind a warranty. I completely understand why they operate the way they do. Two years later, I'm still extremely happy with my decision to go with Gus Pools. Highly recommended.

Pete and the team at Gus Pools are hands down the best contractors we've ever worked with-- period. Honest, reliable, incredibly responsive and fairly priced. (In fact their prices are too reasonable and should be raised!) Just nice, decent folks you don't see much of these days. His recommendations were also fantastic- we used his mason, Eddie who was also amazing. And his architect Genarro Finelli. I saw some negative posts by a few haters about not being able to get Gus to service certain people's pools, because they weren't built by Gus. That just motivated us to have Gus build our pool so they could service it!

For a number of reasons I was never happy with the enclosure. I was sure that there must be a better way to enclose a pool, but short of converting it to an indoor pool, I was clueless. None of the local pool companies was of any help, but fortunately I found Pool & Spa enclosures on the web. As others have written, John and Alex are absolutely great to work with. Their enclosures are everything they say they are. The engineering and quality of construction are outstanding, as is the performance of the enclosure. Today, April 21, the outside air temp is 78. Inside the enclosure the air temp is 97, and the water temp is 83. Even though my pool is unheated, I have been swimming in 80 degree water since late March. Previously with the screened enclosure my pool never hit 80 until May. Ditching the screened room and replacing it with a sliding pool enclosure was a great decision. The new enclosure has exceeded my expectations in every way. Great product from a great company!

Last year, the owner of Bella Pools sadly passed away. Bella was bought by a company, JAS Aquatics, which is based in Suffolk County. The customer service leaves a lot to be desired. So just beware if you are in queens you will be paying Suffolk county prices. They wanted to charge me $1200 for a job that I was quoted both $500 and $640 from two other pool companies that I will reveal in their own reviews. The manager that called me back to give me the $1200 price (keep in mind we had every single piece of equipment needed. All they needed to do was install it for us.) couldn't have cared less and sounded annoyed and distracted when speaking with me. I messaged him that we will not be back. He doesn't care. So why are you keeping the business open when it's apparent you don't care about the remaining bayside/queens customers? Sad.
