I come here at least once a week for the car wash and it's always perfect. The staff are friendly and do a thorough job every time. I've even gotten three free washes with their stamp card! This place lost my business today. Went in for gas and a car wash. I felt the car wash attendant was rude as if he didn't want to be there. After the wash, I asked for my receipt back since they physically take your receipt to enter your car wash number in the machine. He tells me to go into the store and ask for a receipt. I explained that I gave HIM my receipt to enter the number. He just said he didn't have it, and I had to go into the store and stand in line to get another receipt. They have many perfume options you can put inside your car as well. 2 stars because they don't fully vacuum your car. Always seems kind of rushed. Usually only 3 workers and when there is a line of people getting their car washed they have to work twice as fast. They have a stamp card as well. I believe it's 5 full car washes you get one free. This Shell is in the Raley's Shopping Center, here in Newark. It has competition right across the street with Chevron right there. The prices here, are pretty much the same as the Chevron. They seem to keep their prices the same so it's usually basically whichever brand you decide to go with. Chevron or Shell, basically. I use to see this Shell put up Christmas lights up on the Convenience Store but haven't seen that these Christmas's lately. Also has an Convenience Store, Car Wash, and Restrooms. This is the most radical change here since the former Lido Shell was renamed Jarvis Shell, and a convenience store put in place of the service garage. There is a guy there on Sundays who refuses to sell me cigarettes with a valid paper ID (since CA hasn't sent my new ID BECAUSE of covid) along with my CCW ID and he refused still to sell to me but would take my expired Ohio ID (lived a lot of places in the military). He's harassed me every Sunday for the past month like about this! Not a good place for a full-service clean. They only have two attendants at a time. A full-service clean estimate takes "3 hours" because their attendants will stop working on your car to work on the regular car wash customers. They expect you to waste your time waiting instead of staffing the car wash area appropriately. If you can't provide proper full-service car cleaning -- don't advertise that you do. I LOVE CAR WASHES that don't use high powered jets only to clean your car. Those car washes don't actually clean your car much because it only sprays away the first layer of dirt and the deep dirt stays. It's great to know there is a gas station with this kind of car wash near by. I wish the car wash had the RAINX spray but this will do. The attendant yelled at me because i didn't know you had to actually answer the question about whether or not you had a safeway card in order to complete your transaction.........he said "HEY! I always go to this gas station to fill up my car, buy a lottery ticket and get a car wash. I don't really pay attention to the gas prices. Its terrible. Its out of convenience and its by the Dumbarton bridge. I always have those "Oh shit!, I need gas" moments. On hot days the car wash machine will overheat and break down. If you should have it break down on you midway through your wash. Exit the car wash and get a refund from the attendant. They will usually give you another car was ticket that you can redeem in 7 days. Their ice machine broke down. I could go into detail but bottom line is, I will not we a repeat customer. Areas of the car were still dirty, they left many areas wet (which I asked them to go back a dry, but still did not). I am pissed about the exterior car wash. The entire car is still covered in dirt!! I waited in line for 20 minutes and the automatic car wash got about 10% of the dirt. Never go there for car wash or any other service. The indian fellow who owns the station is total rip off and thinks he is doing business in India. I went for $19.99 car wash which includes not only external wash by machine but internal total detail package. The workers did a sloppy job of cleaning with dirt on floor and seats even after car was cleaned. No wax inside, No air freshener and not even proper vaccum. When I brought this to attention of owner, he said that's what you get in 20 bucks and you have to pay more( what??) when I said even basics were not covered, he asked me to go somewhere else for cleaning and said he does not give a F. He even tried to push me. What a jerk thinks this is India. Shame on the complete illeterate guy. No wonder this place got 2 stars.
