Lamb's Tire & Automotive - My 20 year old Mustang

Lamb's Tire & Automotive

I also took it in for an oil change and state certification. Upon picking up my vehicle, they emailed me a report, which is nice. However, they merely went through a book that said "at this amount of mileage replace this", and "this amount of mileage also replace this". And then they recommended that I replace those items. What got my attention is why it said to replace the spark plugs and I had just replaced the spark plugs about 5000 miles ago because I was going on a long trip and I wanted to make sure that everything was OK. I actually had the whole car looked over to make sure everything was OK before I went on that 3000 mile drive, So I knew that the spark plugs were only 5000 miles old. I asked the girl out front if they actually looked at the spark plugs or if they just took it off of a list because my spark plugs are only 5000 miles old. She said they just take it from the list. And then I looked closer at my email where it said that my struts needed to be replaced and under the reasoning, it said "manufacturers recommendation". There were more things that were very expensive to be replaced because it was "manufacturers recommendation" not because anyone looked at my car. If I was not aware, I would've spent a great deal of money, replacing things that were not broken. Customer beware here. Just because they say replace it, it doesn't mean it needs to be replaced. I want a real mechanic that can look at something and see a problem or not and not look at a book and say it's at 75,000 miles replace this! I could've done that by myself . I'm giving two stars because the woman sitting in front of the business was kind and patient and informative. She earned one star for lambs with her smile. I am very disappointed in this Lambs. I won't be back.

I was told that after the diagnosis, they would let me know approximately what the cost would be. I didn't get a call, an email or a text telling me what was wrong with my car. I did get a bill for over $1100 for the work performed. I worked initally with Brandon who is the manager and then after him, I worked with a guy named Mike. Mike is the one who called me to let me know that the car was ready and I was like "no one called to let me know how much it was going to be" after the diagnostics. Mike didn't know anything about that but he told me it was $1100 for the repair. Here's where it gets good... I was told that the battery was bad. This is the 2nd battery that Lamb's has replaced almost 2 years ago. The battery was covered under the warranty so that was free. There were two cables that needed to be replaced in order for the new battery to work. Mike then told me he was able to speak with Brandon about the labor costs and that they were giving me a $200 coupon that I could apply to the price of the work getting done. I ended up paying over $700 to get my car back and all they did was swap out two cables and put in a new battery. 2 cables and labor cost me $700???? That is absolutely ridiculous. I will NEVER do business nor will I promote LT&A and their shifty business practices. If I could give them ZERO stars, they would have it! Good riddance and I hope they get shut down for a dishonest way of doing business. Also, there was no follow up from the manager Brandon about this. He should have at least reached out and given me a detailed explanation but that did not occur.

Just silence...pure, uncomfortable silence. At first, I tried optimism. Then logic. Then the classic move of turning the key again like it might suddenly change its mind. It did not (like a child digging in their heels). At this point, I accepted that my car had entered its "I'm tired and I quit" era. Cue roadside assistance....Alpha Roadside Services and Battery. Thankfully, help arrived before I had time to spiral into Googling "How to survive permanently stranded in your driveway." The roadside assistance technician showed up calm, professional, and completely unfazed by my dramatic retelling of events. Within minutes, they diagnosed the issue, got things sorted out, and brought my car back to life like some kind of automotive wizard. What could have turned into a full‑blown inconvenience (or emotional breakdown) ended up being quick and painless. No lectures, no eye‑rolling...just efficient help and a running vehicle again. The car was not tired, but the battery was a bit weak. While roadside service was free through our insurance plan, we had to pay for battery, which was reasonably priced. Thanks to roadside assistance, my car is no longer staging protests, and I can once again go about my day pretending this never happened. Highly recommend Alpha Roadside Services and Battery... especially if your car enjoys surprise rebellion.
