I had a very concerning experience with Dr. Elise Durville during an emergency visit for my dog…read more I brought my dog in with clear signs that something serious was wrong, including visible distress, pain, and significant bleeding with clotting (I showed photos). Despite this, I was told it was a urinary tract infection and was sent home with antibiotics, without additional diagnostics such as bloodwork. I called back a few hours later, asking if a pain medication could be filled as it was obvious she was in quite some pain. I was told UTI's are not painful and that my dog is clearly just an anxious dog. After continuing to push for pain medication, she begrudgingly filled the script. Over the next several hours, my dog's condition worsened further. I called a final time reporting escalating symptoms -- severe pain, inability to lie down, elevated heart rate, and a distended abdomen. I specifically asked if I should bring her back to the ER and was told these symptoms were "standard" for a UTI and that returning was NOT necessary. Completely invalidated my concerns and made me feel like I was crazy for calling back again. Trusting my instincts, I brought her to another emergency hospital. That decision saved her life. She was diagnosed with rodenticide toxicity and was internally bleeding from every single major organ -- a life-threatening condition requiring immediate care. I was told that delaying treatment any further could have been fatal. If I listened to Dr. Durville, my dog would not be alive. Dr. Durville later called to confirm it was not a UTI, but there was little acknowledgment of the earlier dismissal of symptoms or the guidance provided. She did not apologize until I asked her for an apology and I do not feel as though there was enough accountability to ensure this never happens again to another dog, which is why I write this post in warning. This experience was incredibly distressing, and I remain steadfast that the severity of my dog's condition was not appropriately assessed. Not only did bringing her to MPV not help my dog, it only made it worse and delay her getting the critical care she needed to survive this. Which consisted of 2 nights in the ICU, multiple blood transfusions, and a $10,000 bill. I am also still awaiting reimbursement for the initial $800 visit, which did not include diagnostics that may have identified the issue sooner. I share this in hopes that future concerns are taken seriously and thoroughly evaluated, especially when symptoms indicate something more severe.

We had no idea what had happened until she suddenly became unable to walk and started seizing. The incredible team at MPVEH took Milli in immediately, and without a doubt, saved her life. If it weren't for the swift action, expertise, and genuine compassion of Dr. Angel and her team, we would be telling a very different story. From the bottom of our hearts -- thank you. We will be forever grateful to this amazing team of doctors for giving us more time with our girl.

My boyfriend and I live in Meredith area and we thought we would call local vet hospitals near us. Meredith Animal Hospital was the first to pop up. They were closed but gave a direct number to the Dr to call in case of an emergency. CLEARLY this was an emergency. When the guy answered the phone my boyfriend explained to him what happened. The guy asked if we were current clients and we answered no. The guy then goes, well call your vet. My boyfriend goes it's 730 they are closed, the guy stated well you should call your vet someone should be there answering your calls like I do for my clients. We were considering moving our dog to a local vet but clearly this one is not an option based on the rude response we received.

The vet listened intently to my concerns, kept a watchful eye on our little buddy and proceeded with her idea to solve his issues. our boy was in no way stressed and rather enjoyed the tummy tickles! They asked if they could take her to to back because there was "too many people in the room" (me and my family) they came back a short while later and said my dog slipped her harness(which has never happened before) and that they couldn't do any vaccines or anything for her, until she had been on a sedation medication. I asked for them to try in the room but they ultimately refused. Sent us home with trazodone and gabapentin to give the dog. I gave the meds to her as instructed, but my dog didn't seem different. I told them I would sit with my dog this time(my family was still in the room with us) and again they commented about having too many people(not exactly a choice as they wanted a morning appt and I have young children.) To which I said it'd be fine and that we just need her shots done. They came prepared with ONE of the vaccines that she needed out of several. I held the dog and she was fine, a little nervous but fine. They refused to give her the other shots to "avoid stressing her out more" recommended more meds to sedate my dog further. I refused the meds as that's just additional money that I don't see as necessary. Come time to check out, and they charged me for an exam; which didn't happen. They tried to get me to have the medications more than once which my 5 year old dog has never needed for a vet appt before. So very upset that this was our experience as now we feel we have not much choice than to drive the distance for the vet that seemed to care more for the dog than the money. All the good reviews gave me such hope... thankful we learned this quickly and don't have to go through this again.

My husband and I have been taking our three golden retrievers to this veterinary clinic since we…read moremoved to the area last March. It's a beautiful office, the vets are well qualified and the staff has almost always been courteous, professional and upbeat. That changed yesterday. Several weeks ago we booked an appointment for annual check-ups/shots for all three dogs. We showed up for the appointment on time. The clinic was running behind considerably, by almost 30 minutes. Things happen, and docs get backed up. I understand that. A heads up call would have been nice, though. As we were waiting in the parking lot, my husband needed to use the restroom. Most adults can hold it. He can't. He's a 3x cancer survivor (sarcoma). His chemo treatment has left him unable to hold it. After sitting in the car in anguish, he politely knocked on the clinic door fully masked, told her he was fully vaccinated and asked if he could use the restroom. The woman with the blue hair (sorry, I don't know her name) answered the door and flat out told him no. Keep in mind that we're paying customers. Yesterday's vet visit likely would have cost us somewhere in the neighborhood of $600 based on our experience with other visits to this clinic. So, we drove down to the nearest Port-o-John so my husband could relieve himself. Meanwhile, I called the clinic and got blue hair lady on the phone. I was calm and pointed, making it clear that we would be taking our business elsewhere because of her lack of compassion for another human being. I wanted this to be a teaching moment for her. I explained my husband's cancer situation, and she said that she would have let him use the restroom if he had told her about his illness. I was aghast that a paying customer and fellow human being was expected to bare his soul to a stranger for some basic humanity. Not sure if she knows a lot of men, but most aren't exactly the soul baring types. Blue haired lady started to cry. She told me she was shaking. Truly, my intention wasn't to make her cry. It was to educate her on her profound ignorance and let her know she had lost a customer. I recognize that this country is a cesspool for inhumanity and narcissism right now. But, one has to wonder if they want their beloved pets being cared for by someone who displays such mean, judgmental and shortsighted behavior to another human being. I got a glimpse into who that person is, and I don't trust her to care for my pups. The beauty of capitalism is that I can take my business somewhere else. I'll not reward rudeness with my hard-earned dollar. There are plenty of qualified vets in the world whose staffs are considerate of both people and pets. **UPDATE** One of the docs left my husband a message. So disappointing and unproductive, claiming I "berated" her employee and hiding behind her Covid protocol. Typical clinician who hasn't a clue about how to run a customer-facing business and doesn't care about people. Why would I trust this person with my pups? Reaffirms our decision to not return to this clinic. Clearly, the management only empowers bad behavior from its employee.

They left us waiting for such a while that I ended up needing to pee, but they would not let me use the bathroom. They said it was for staff only. So, that was super uncomfortable. The receptionist was also pretty rude, but it was the end of the day, so maybe she was just tired. Once we got a chance to see the vet, the exams for both of our dogs were cursory at best. No discussion about what their activity levels are, what they eat, their hearing or eyesight, etc. They really just want to check vaccine records and tell you when your dog needs updates on vaccines. My dogs are 12 and 13, so they obviously have more needs than just vaccines. It was a very disappointing visit. I actually requested lab work because that is what I am used to for a geriatric wellness check, but it wasn't actually advised by the vet because the vet could not have cared less. So, all that said, I ended up spending about $900 for both dogs. Two exams, two lab panels, and a rabies vaccine. Kind of high, not outrageous. I would have gladly paid that if I thought the exam was worth anything at all. Ok fast forward to today. My older dog is sick, she's been throwing up. I called to see if they could get her in, as she is a patient of record. Of course not. The receptionist, Kim, said to bring her to the emergency vet, to which I said sure, no problem. But I also wanted to make sure she got into see her regular vet, and the receptionist argued with me and told me no, they would not schedule her until she went to the emergency department. Well, I'm a busy professional, just like most people, and I need time to rearrange my schedule, so that's just ridiculous. Kim also cut me off on almost every single sentence I uttered during the phone call, to the point where I had to say "Please let me finish a sentence." I'm going to find a new vet, obviously, which sucks because this place is right next to where I live.
