I rarely leave reviews, but this was by far the worst experience I've ever had with a groomer. If I could rate this place less than dog crap itself, I would. After years of bringing my Shih Tzu here, its very sad today marked the last day. The tall male groomer has the most ugliest demeanor and should never be left in charge to run anything less than an ant farm. Several visits he has been unprofessional with a rude demeanor, making him entirely unfit to interact with customers. We all know it can be tuff going through the process of finding a new groomer so would try to just ignore and they usually do good grooming my dog. When I came to drop off my dog, I politely requested a trim to help my dog's ears grow back after he previously cut them too short, claiming they were "matted" when they weren't to that degree. Instead of listening, he decided to argue with me, cut me off mid-sentence, spoke in a condescending tone, and rudely dismissed my concerns. When I asked if he spoke to all customers this way, he arrogantly called his disrespectful behavior "being direct" and that "I just didn't like what he said." As someone who works with clients daily, I can confidently say his approach was degrading and unacceptable. It's not what you say its how you say it, but that he didn't seem to care instead was so quick to escalate the issue before understanding my initial request. His attitude stinks worse than cow manure. To be so full of pride and negativity says an awful lot about his character. Not once did he apologize, try to resolve the issue, or show any appreciation for years of loyalty. I will NEVER return or recommend this groomer to any pet owner. If you value respect as a two way street, take your business elsewhere. read more

Jan's was recommended to me when looking for a new groomer for my dog son Biscuit. I was anxious about trying yet another groomer, but it quickly went out the door by the way we were greeted walking in. It's a family ran business, the kind where they want to get to know you and your canine. I'm more than happy that I listened. Mitch did a fantastic job on him, by far the best groomer I've come across. He did exactly what I asked for and Biscuit was feeling his cut too. Biscuit was super handsome, in a good mood and even dressed when I picked him up. That speaks volumes to me, so when I'm asked where he got groomed, I proudly share that Mitch, our new groomer takes care of us. Thank you very much. read more

Just as I was losing hope for someone to cut the nails of my XL German Shepherd and my American Eskimo dog, I was very fortunate to discover Jan's Pet Grooming in the neighborhood. I stopped by with Buddy to get his nails trimmed, (the Eskimo) when one of the owners, Chaz, sat down with me and Buddy. He took a few minutes to get Buddy acclimated to the shop and Buddy loved Chaz. He was very kind and gentle with my beloved pet. He also agreed to trim the Shepherd's nails at a later date AND later, a full grooming. Dozer (the Shepherd) is three years old and previously, no other groomer was able or willing to work with him. Yesterday, Dozer got his first professional grooming with Chaz and Mitch, (the other owner). Not only did Dozer look great...clean and trimmed perfectly, but he was treated with much care and kindness. The same level of care as If he was their own pet. Dozer was happy and calm when we picked him up; he even had on a handsome neck scarf! As a pet owner my entire life, this is the VERY BEST pet grooming shop I have ever been to. The guys and ladies on staff are courteous, kind, and most of all, caring and empathetic. I feel truly blessed to have stumbled upon this outstanding shop and the staff. read more

Been taking dog here for months, after being told my pet was a bit to active while getting groomed, I actively was advised to get him an anxiety pill, I did. Then upon attempting to get Ted an appt, was giving the run around with appts and just was finally told, they not going to accommodate his grooming any longer! Very Disappointing and I believe it's discriminatory, I recommend you seek other services, outside Redford and ban this location for such acts. read more

I left so hurt and disappointed when I left Jan's on Thursday, August 19, 2021. My poor Yorkie's nails were trimmed too short!! Down to the nerve!! I discovered it when I got him to my car and placed him in the seat next to me. He immediately jumped onto my lap. I placed him back on the seat next to me, and I saw blood on the seat, and that's when I noticed the difference in his behavior. He was very anxious and obviously in a lot of pain!!! I took him back into the groomers and told them that he was bleeding. They never acknowledged it. They never apologized. Instead, their response was, "Oh! He must have scrapped it on the sidewalk walking to the car." I couldn't believe my ears!!! I asked them what did I need to do, They said he would be better in a day. NOPE!!! The poor thing was still in pain 4-5 days later. I know that they are a neighborhood business that has been in the community for years, and many of my neighbors use Jan's. But I am done! I will never use them again, nor will I refer them to anyone who ask me to recommend a groomer. And if any my neighbors ask me why I don't use them, I won't hesitate to tell them why. read more

Great service, would definitely recommend! I previously had a hard time finding a groomer that took Pitties but they had no issue. They met with us and introduced themselves to my dogs who were older pits. That showed me right away I was at the right place. Now it's 2022 and we've been coming here for a few years & they still have great service! Definitely a Redford gem, give them a try! read more

This was my first time taking my 2yr old Maltese to Jan's Grooming and for a dog owner that wasn't to happy with the haircuts from his last groomer I was a little apprehensive. Usually don't have a problem with this place however today I had a different experience. One of the groomers left me standing outside in the cold so he could cut a dogs toenails. Not only did he leave me outside but he locked the door. When I complained his response was "you're not going to run out into traffic but the dog will" that's all the more reason to have done it in the back of the salon and not where patrons are coming in. I'm only once customer but to Jans Pet Grooming I'm now one less customer. read more
