I've come to Bintz for years. This is the place a number of restaurants get their stuff from. There…read moreare times that you can really save money and either get things you just don't see at the standard kitchen store, or things where industrial restaurant quality is where it's at. I like some of the standardized storage containers. I've paid as much as $150 for a 1 quart D5 All Clad pan. One place you really don't want to spend the big bucks is non-stick frypans. The commercial ones go from stovetop to oven. Are balanced. And, are reasonably priced so you don't feel so bad when it has to be replaced. Bintz has Vollrath. They are good, and I've used them, but I do prefer the Tramontina's that I've gotten elsewhere. They are only open during "business" hours, so you have to make a bit of an effort to get here, but if you like visiting kitchen stores you owe it to yourself to get here. Oh, on this trip, I got the 1/8th sheet pans I needed for just a few bucks.

This place is kitchen crack to a cooking junkie. Need something a simple as a spatula? They have it. Want an industrial, restaurant, 4-place deep fryer? Check. Mixing bowls the size of a pinch pot to sizes big enough to toss the world's largest Caesar Salad. Anything and everything to stock a kitchen with the exception of the decorative roosters (why do people collect those, anyway?!?!) I find these guys exceptional for things you just need to do "big stuff." They have a great selection of food containers, steam table-type containers, and catering supplies. There isn't much they don't have and if you aren't in need of it today, they can get it for you. Best part about it? This restaurant supply is open to the public. No secret hand shakes, no purchase orders, no chef requirements. If you have the funds, they have the equipment. Heavy duty equipment that will last you a culinary lifetime.

This is a Costco for restaurants. AND large families. (Do we have any large families here in Utah?…read moreLOL) So in a nutshell, this is an industrial warehouse for restaurants. And it makes it ideal for large families who want to add to their food storage and everyday items. My many photos do not do this place justice. I recommend that you pinch and zoom in on the photos to see a sampling of items that they have. Frankly, they have stuff in large sizes that you will not see at Costco or Sam's. You will also see items that you never see in either place or the grocery store. They have everything a restaurant would need. Not just food items of ALL kinds, but kitchen utensils, food warmers, fryers, containers of all kinds (that you've never seen before), pizza boxes, etc. etc. etc. One thing that excites me is that moving from Tucson where Shamrock's products were in every grocery store meant that I could hardly find any Shamrock products here in Utah. In my opinion, they have the best tasting milk, sour cream, cottage cheese, and definitely the best egg nog. Now I can get their milk and egg nog here!!! Really, try their egg nog. The prices seem average. They have a loyalty plan that will get you cheaper prices by a little. Some of their prices will impress, some will be about the same as a grocery store. But there is the quantity thing. I don't think that most non-restaurant people will be doing a huge shopping trip to this warehouse, but you will find some great things to put in your pantry, extra fridge, or freezer. I certainly have made a list. That's exciting that they are here. 5* = A top favorite. Mind-blowing good. I will definitely return and I will go out of my way to go here. Worth every dime of my money. 4* = Outstanding. Top-tier. Some elements not quite as good as it gets, but it still is worthy of my regular business. 3* = Good experience. I might do repeat business if it is convenient, the only option, the only one in its category, or on a whim, but would not be among the first thing to come to mind. Would definitely recommend you trying it to get your own take on it. 2* = Not so good. Would not recommend at all. Waste of money. 1* = How are they still in business? Stay away at all costs!

Dear Costco, There…read moreare moments in life that divide a man into two versions of himself. The version before, and the version after. For me, that moment came when I looked up at the Costco food court menu and realized the $9.95 combo pizza was gone. Not misplaced. Not temporarily unavailable. But gone. A world so small, yet somehow large enough to collapse an entire food court. I stood there beneath the fluorescent lights, surrounded by bold savings and furniture trying to process the war crime I just witnessed, this place built upon abundance, and one that could create such an absence. The combo pizza was not just a menu item, it was balance, unity, meat, vegetable, cheese, and sauce working together in a way congress could only dream of. And you took it from us. I tried to be mature about it. I tried to look at the cheese pizza with respect. I tried to convince myself pepperoni could carry the burden. But deep down we both know the truth, pepperoni was not the answer but the evidence that the answer had been taken from us. And if it couldn't get any worse, you put sugar on my wounds, and got rid of the churro. The churro Costco. The golden cinnamon staff of Mosses himself. The only desert capable of bridging the gab between what Costco was, and what Costco has now become. You did not simply remove two food court items. You also removed a piece of my heart. Now, I will acknowledge but one thing. You slightly redeemed yourself by switching to Coke products. But only slightly. A fountain Diet Coke does offer comfort in a time of institutional collapse. But the ends do not justify the means. That said, I remain a loyal member. But loyalty should not require so much agony, pain, and loss. Eagerly awaiting accountability. -Mason Food court advocate, wounded but still willing to love again. I'm not mad, but disappointed, disgusted even.
