I cannot begin to tell you the number of times I have "settled" for a haircut or flat out grew my hair longer just to avoid having another bad experience. That is, until I sat in Georgina's chair and got the hands-down best stylist experience I have ever had. From the skills to the space and insistence on you leaving satisfied, your strands are safe in her hands.
The Space
Within a cozy business plaza just across from the theater on Newberry, Georgina's personal chair sits nestled inside a very clean, well-decorated shared space. The concept at this location is less "sea of cookie-cutter chairs, all side-by-side" and more "private, comfortable areas to just chat and relax". It is so private, in fact, that I do not see the faces of any other stylists who also work their magic while visiting, nor other patrons getting styled. Perhaps people-watchers like the communal approach, but I love this isolation. Getting your hair done is even more relaxing when other noise and chatter are gone, plus if you have been going to the same expert for years you are likely to want to catch up with them.
The Service
Let me start by saying I have not just gone "to the same place for years." I have been seeing the same PERSON for years (roughly 3 years I believe). Apart from her skills, which I will go into soon, Georgina is a genuinely thoughtful, patient person. She never fails to offer amenities for those who like a beverage or coffee to make their experience even more of a value, so keep that in mind if you are thinking of paying her a visit. For me, even before she took on her own space, it was clear she had incredible "chair-side manner" with her visitors. Effortless conversation if you are the type, but I imagine even those who are not chatty would feel comfortable relaxing quietly while getting spruced up.
The Styles
Did I mention the double crowns and cowlick? Having had such troublesome experiences with chains and other alternatives, I asked a friend who styled hair if she would take me on. Her response (approximately): "I honestly am not as strong at men's cuts as Georgina. She's a rockstar and you should seriously book her." I did just that, and she was not wrong. I sat down, expressed my woes of the past: lop-sided, off-kilter, unruly, etc. Georgina heard me and, in a flash, turned those fears into a clean, slick, downright fly-AF haircut I was proud to walk away sporting. I even managed to convince my girlfriend to see her and she was extremely attached to an out-of-town stylist -- and she loved her 'do too!
Final Thoughts
At the risk of making Georgina too busy to ever see me again, I encourage anyone looking for a long-term, careful stylist to book her ASAP. Her work speaks for itself in pictures, but as someone looking to just get a decent haircut against the odds of my genetic traits, I am telling you she can make magic happen.
