I've been going to Serenity Mental Health Centers (Biltmore location) since around 2020 and have…read moreseen a few different providers over the years. For the past couple of years, I've been seeing Dr. Brooks, and I really like him. He's super friendly, knowledgeable, and it genuinely feels like he keeps up with current research. I also appreciate that he's suggested supplements alongside medications to help support my mental health, which has been really helpful. That said... the wait times here are honestly pretty frustrating. Every single time I come in for an appointment, I end up waiting way longer than expected. At best, it's usually at least 30 minutes past my scheduled time, and I've had one visit where I waited about an hour and a half. It really feels like they're overbooking appointments, and it makes the whole experience stressful--especially when you plan your day around a set appointment time. I do really like Dr. Brooks, which is why I've stayed, but the consistent delays are enough that I've seriously considered switching to a provider outside of Serenity--it just feels like a hassle to start over somewhere new. If they could get the scheduling under control, this would be a much better experience overall.

I typically come in anxious and on edge, and I always leave with a more positive mindset. To be completely honest, the staff here have saved my life. If it wasn't for the incredible care I have received here, I would have left a long time ago. Nothing but good things to say about this place. Once again, they saved my life. If you're struggling, I truly believe the staff here will be able to help you.

I formerly saw Dr. Hicks, and have transferred to Dr. Rockwell due to Hicks' departure. The doctors…read moreare alright. I didn't love Hicks. Rockwell is decent but I feel he's more efficient at managing time than truly understanding, to be completely honest. That said, they're the only reason I give this practice ANY stars. First, they have a ridiculous late policy. $50 fee if you're more than 5 minutes late. When your office is in downtown Phoenix and you have patients coming from the East valley, how can you charge for being FIVE minutes late, especially with appointments booked during rush hour?! I haven't been to the physical Mesa location yet, but the front office is the same for all locations. Fees for literally everything. Out of medications and need a prescription? That'll be $30. Need an appointment? How about 2 months from now. Even though I was supposed to be back sometime around next week and WOULD have received a new prescription at that appointment, since they don't have any openings for literally two months I have to pay a fee. You have to CALL to do everything with this office. No online patient portal. The doctors won't make a follow-up appointment with you during your session. You can't request appointments, prescriptions, or make payments online. You have to call for everything. And good luck getting anyone on the phone. Even worse is trying to actually get a prescription sent to a pharmacy! I used to have a mail-order pharmacy that only took faxes (for real, I hate them, too) and it would take months to get prescriptions sent in. My new (equally inept) mail order pharmacy called for a new prescription, prompting Northlight to actually call ME to extort the $30 fee and I asked them to send the Rx to my local pharmacy since I'm already out of meds and need them NOW not next week maybe. They were more than happy to take my money, but actually call the pharmacy and send the Rx over? Nah. Not their job. I truly hate this place. I hate dealing with them and their reliance on phone calls and fees for every little thing. How do you not have a patient portal in 2021?! You deal with people with mental issues, phone calls only increase anxiety in a lot of us! And customer service is nonexistant! How do you let patients run out of medication because of ineptitude?! This isn't like running out of Tylenol, I literally need my medication to function in life and every day without it means 3x longer to work back up to normal. Unfortunately because of the pandemic, every other psychiatrist in town is booked up or doesn't take insurance, so I'm stuck with them until I can find an opening somewhere else. As soon as I find someone with an opening, I'm out.

In addition, we were seeing Jeff for couples therapy. All was good until one day Jeff and my ex literally cornered me in a room. Mind you, I have ptsd. Jeff implied that I was the reason that my ex was a sex addict and that in order for our marriage to be fixed, I had to go to a treatment center IN FLORIDA. As much as I pleaded for them to let me out of the room, they both just kept coming at me. It wasn't until I started to hyperventilate that they backed off. I ran out of the room crying. I never went back to couples therapy with Jeff. I did mention this incident with Francesca at my next appointment with her. I cannot remember her response. I did tell her that I would never be in the same room as Jeff again. I never received an apology from Jeff. At his group meeting with Jeff, my ex said that he mentioned that " he may have been too hard on me" but that was it. This happened at least 7 years ago. It has taken me this long to share my story. I am still very wary of therapists because of this incident.

The client had numerous children at the property. They behaved egregiously by breaking the couch, a window, staining linens, breaking the garbage disposal, stealing numerous household items. Zoe Flippen ultimately confessed to making the reservation from her personal AirBnB account and also stated that she would make sure I was reimbursed for the damages and that she felt terrible for the situation. Unfortunately, she did not take financial responsibility. She allowed AirBnB to step in and they reimbursed 40% of the out of pocket expenses I incurred. Zoe and Open Hearts Family Wellness DID NOT make up the difference and have stopped responding to communication. Any organization that functions at this level and fails to take accountability for their actions should not be trusted, in my opinion.

They have made what seems the impossible, a realistic goal to strive for to achieve. I am helping a friend of mine who was in need of their services. They were able to set up an online evaluation within days of my call, not like the others who said they were booked for weeks. To be able to have the evaluation completed online was a God send. It makes it so much more do-able for people that don't have their license and don't drive to be able to meet and complete the requirement set by MVD. Even after the screening when I had questions about the next step for my friend, Nathan was so knowledgeable and cut out all the confusion. He even made a recommendation of a provider who can help... I know someone else who will benefit from a Stonewall Institute and will be sending him over next as well as let him know it's not as frightening as one might think...just get it done!!!! Thank you Nathan and Stonewall.
