If I could rate Jason a negative star I would. My husband needed help and it was his first therapy session. He was completely nervous and upset going into this and Jason was completely unprofessional, lacked empathy and compassion and I'm mortified hearing how this man operates his counseling session. Completely disgusted. If you want care and compassion and need therapy, especially your first time, DO NOT SEE JASON. I work in a field where we encourage connecting using your client's name, and my husband said when he used his name during the session, Jason felt "uncomfortable". Very very bad i showed up twice for appointments one was my fault it was a video session then we made plans to meet in 3 days i showed up and they say they called me numerous times never did I receive one call and they said they emailed me. I got an email the next day after the appointment. Extremely unprofessional. Stay away from this office. Jason is in need of therapy himself. When I arrived at his office his front window was broken. I would not be surprised if this was done by another ex-patient prior to our meeting given how rude he was. I do not say that jokingly either. There were no obvious signs of theft and the hole was not large enough to enter, this was either a random act of vandalism or this office has made enemies. It could be either one but it does make you wonder. His office is located off the main road behind a stairwell. This doesn't seem likely to be some kid picking up a rock and throwing it through a random window as he runs by. This looked like a deliberate attack on this business. I don't know. But it is a red flag. When I walked inside I was greeted by no one. No secretary, just a closed door. I figured he must be with another client and sat down. He came walking out later stating that he needed to use the restroom. Not a big deal and I get it happens but probably should have done that before our scheduled meeting time if he was just sitting in his office by himself. The office is extremely small and in poor shape. Business is apparently not going well for Jason. I knew five minutes into the meeting I had zero interest in working with this individual. I tried to give him a chance but it only got worse from there. One of the most unprofessional business experiences I have encountered in a long time. He sat with his arms crossed in front of him the entire meeting and sighed repeatedly as I spoke, engaging in a variety of passive aggressive behaviors. Making very little eye contact. Did not seem interested in anything I had to say. At first I brushed it off as he must be tired, he cannot seriously be this rude. From the beginning he seemed very oddly angry and antagonistic. When I was talking about the issues that were bothering me he continued to seem angry and I stopped and asked if he felt like I had offended him in some way. He stated that I was "giving off a dark and sullen energy". You don't say? A guy talking about feeling down about something comes off as feeling down? Is that not why someone seeks therapy? What is the value in the name calling? He made this statement in a very accusatory and critical way, as if there was something wrong with me he did not like, not in a way that seemed rooted in any genuine desire to help. I asked what he meant by "dark" and he stated that I was too narcissistic to work with, he did not work with narcissists and he could not help me. Can you believe a therapist saying that to you? I have never been called that in my life and I am not an arrogant person, seeking out therapy is in of itself a humbling experience, to admit you are not perfect and to seek help. Playing devil's advocate, even if I was, then that is a starting point to work from, not to refuse service or use a medical term as if it were a schoolyard insult. I cannot believe his unprofessional behavior. The childish disrespect of the repeated sighing while I spoke really is disgusting. I called him out on this and he did not attempt to explain it or apologize, instead acting like I was the one at fault. I find it ironic as well that he gave himself a five star rating on google reviews and he calls me a narcissist. Jason is a disgrace to his profession and an overall unpleasant and unhappy individual. This also felt very routine for him, as if he has behaved this way with many others before. I see another google review that appears to be describing a similar experience. It is very telling that Jason has so few positive reviews from actual clients online, most are from business partners or himself. This experience made me angry at the disrespect and not much else. But for someone who is dealing with real depression this sort of treatment could send them deeper into a downward spiral and have real consequences. Don't risk your mental health or support people like this. Take your money elsewhere to those who care and genuinely want to help you and their community. No good person behaves in this manner and there is no excuse for it. read more

I recommend Jason. Before deciding to go with Jason I interviewed about 10 other counselors. I did not want a sounding board or careless validation on what I already knew/believed but someone that pushed and enlightened inspiring growth and adding visible light to blind spots. I interned for Jason when I was working on my master's degree in Counseling. Jason was absolutely outstanding as a supervisor and counselor. I liked to just sit and watch and learn as Jason counseled people. He has such a empathetic, understanding way about him and really connected with the people that came in. Jason is a pleasant, professional councelor, and I cannot speak to his ability to help with interpersonal relationships, seems like he may be great in that area. However, unless the issue is blatantly emotion or interpersonal based, you may want to visit another mental health professional. At the cost of a high-end car payment, one should expect more than 'how does that make you feel' type of sessions that could just as easily be had over a beer with a friend. I've known Jason for 10 years. He is the consummate professional. Some folks fall into their professions because they think it's what they'd like to do, others have a calling to it. Jason is of the later group. He has an uncanny knack for identifying the "real", not superficial or projected behavioral barriers people have to personal growth. What I respect among many things about Mr. Fierstein is that he is not about the money. Sadly, in the medical profession I know of many providers of health care that will string clients along whether they are providing any true service or not as long as it's good for the bottom line. Jason's desire is to make a lasting impact in a person's or couple's life for those that are serious about confronting the real issues. More often, people are NOT aware of the real driving force behind harmful language or behavior to themselves and their relationships. Once Jason identifies these issues he passionately commits himself to progress with a willing client. Some clients aren't prepared for this and may react defensively from the same emotional "space" their problematic behavior stems. Counseling works if your serious about the effort it requires. Work IS required to overcome detrimental behaviors that you may have been straddled with for years. Didn't help me a bit. Just sat there and looked at me. Evaded my asking for help. I'm sorry I met him and gave him $150.

My wife and I visited him for marriage counseling. He immediately picked a side and the session went downhill fast. The session escalated as he was persistent asking questions I was not ready to discuss; it was the first session. He literally asked if I was mad at him. I was very disappointed with the format of the session. He bounced around topics and did not seem to have a strategic plan. Maybe this guy is better one on one but if you are seeing him as a couple beware. read more

I was referred to Jason by my Primary Care physician for depression. I was having difficulty doing just about everything - sleeping, working, and particularly, having a supporting relationship with my wife. I saw Jason for almost a year and he turned out to be a fantastic therapist. I benefitted greatly from his therapeutic techniques and compassion.
