Overall installation was good. BUT, the person handling the billing part was not clear. She said they would credit me for any left over parts which were 2 bundled sections, and 18 loose new panels with one rail. They tried to charge me $75 to pick up the materials. So I said I will bring it in my SUV to save on the hefty pick up fee - I had to make 2 trips because of size of the sections and loose panels. After returning all the items, the kind forklift operator counted the parts, listed it on the receipt, and drove it away - thank you! To finalize the bill, I spoke to an office staff only to find out that they only credit materials in it's original packaging. I explained that the sales person said "ALL materials that can be reused would be credited". So I said, "what was the point of me returning the extra materials?". All I got was a shrug. Now, the forklift operator has to bring parts back for me to lug them back into my car, so I can then lug them back into my storage unit. Smh To prospective customers - inspect all sections when installers arrive and make sure they are not opening new packages to use as extra parts. read more

Excellent repair of our white picket fence. They replaced all the vertical posts (which had rotted) with pressure treated posts. Oswaldo, the solutions guy was great to work with - thorough in his estimate, came out twice to verify everything. Oswaldo came on the day of repair to ensure the operations team had expectations set. Jackson and his team showed up on time and worked very efficiently. Got it done quickly. All level, gates work like new. They were clean, and cleaned up after themselves. Buckets of water and scrubbing, as example. Good value for money. I would highly recommend. read more

We used Jan Fence twice. We had bad experiences both times. We chalked the first terrible experience up to Covid. After the initial instal, a section of our fence was damaged. Jan's sales rep Doug Van Dam could not have been worse. He lied about the agreed upon scope of services and ignored phone calls and emails for months at a time. His claims were inconsistent with our written contract. Jan's receptionist apologized time and again about his lack of engagement. If you want a dishonest sales rep who won't return your phone calls then ask for Doug Van Dam. He excels at terrible customer service. read more

Overall experience- was good-to-fair. Not bad, but could have been better. I hired Jan Fence (Anthony was our sales guy) to put in a white 6 ft privacy fence in our backyard so our tiny longhair chihuahuas couldn't get out. We told Anthony the whole reason for paying for this fence was to keep the dogs in our yard safely and it needed to be as close to the ground as possible with no gaps. He said no problem. Fast forward to the day of install, my husband is there, and I was at work. The crew worked their buns off in the heat and installed it start-to-finish in 1 day. Great. Except.... it wasn't close to the ground. Our dogs went right through it. I call Jan Fence, to explain the problem. They felt terrible. They owned up to it and said they would come back to fix it. They put an extra piece of material on the outside of the fence and thought that was going to fix it. I was ok at first, before I realized what a crap job it was. It was sloppy at best. I called Anthony back, I said it was not okay, and they needed to make it right. He agreed it looked bad, got his manager involved, and said they would lower the fence despite the drastic amount of labor it would require. (I agree, it was a lot of work). Fast forward another week they come to lower it, and my husband calls me "Honey..the guy on site is claiming they are leaving and will finish it another day b/c they didn't bring enough materials". I flipped out. I called Anthony, texted him, and then finally emailed him and his boss and said this is insane. They reassured me it would be done that day and they would bring the materials. All in all, it was alot of chaos, but in the end, the fence DOES look good, after it was fixed the "right" way. I just wish I did not have to micromanage the whole situation. If you hire them, they will put in an awesome fence, but make sure you are managing every step of the install, otherwise it is a headache to get it right. read more

I hired them to install a pool fence last year (less than 12 months ago). There was some damaged do to winds (They claim it could be a bear haha) The aluminum fence is very cheap and weak so I figured the repair would be minimal (they should have offered to do it for free being less than a year old). This would have been a 5 star review based on the fence alone. However, during installation earlier this summer the installer mistakenly placed more than 2-3 full wheelbarrows of dirt on our clean pea gravel. After we removed the piles on our own, there remains dirt that has now mixed into the gravel. Neither Jan Fence nor the installer offered to do anything to resolve the issue. Despite the fact that it was very obvious that the dirt should not have been placed there, the ultimate response to us was "it seems that there was some misunderstanding or miscommunication . . . and unfortunately, we don't have an efficient or effective way to remedy the issue for you and I apologize for the inconvenience . . . but at this point there is nothing further that we can do. Extremely disappointing response. They could have offered any number of solutions, but now we are left to fix this issue on our own. read more

We used Jan Fence for our initial installation. Subsequently, we needed to move a large item into our backyard so we needed two posts and 3 sections of fencing removed and eventually reinstalled. Upon meeting with Arnold he indicated that he would give me a quote for two new posts should they be damaged during removal (out of concrete footings). As the large item was scheduled to come in a few weeks during the initial removal the technician was able to utilize the undamaged, existing posts and reassemble the fence as we have dogs. Our item was delivered and Jan fence came back to do the official reinstall. The "technician" started the job without coming to the door or to confirm the reinstall. At the end of the job when I came out he said he "gave" me two new posts. Fast forward to the following day I receive a receipt from them indicating I was charged for two posts. I spoke with Arnold, explained the situation in which the posts were in working order. He said he didn't know any of this and he would speak with the technician. Long story short I was told the technician confirmed they were damaged and that was why I was being charged. Arnold couldn't verify this as they were already thrown away. It wasn't a huge amount of money, but the principle of it was ugly. read more

Beware!!! We had an estimate on June 5, 2022 to have a chain link fence installed. The job has finally been completed Sept. 7, 2022. They deposit was given and the contract signed, but no one ever called to tell us about all the delays. We made many phone calls. The rep who sold us the contract never returned our calls after leaving messages. The fence was put up in August and it was the wrong fence. Our contract was for all pool code mesh and they installed the wrong mesh, we actually had to wait another 4 weeks and was charge an extra $50 for the pool code mesh which was on our original contract. My previous gate was done by Freedom Fence and not only was it poorly made and unevenly installed, dealing with the owner was a disaster. He never came when he said he would, nor did he have the decency to call and cancel. So I held my breath this time around hoping I would have a better experience. Jan Fence was very professional from the time I first went to My Fence to Go to look at and discuss materials and make an appointment for an estimate right up to the finished product. If I could rate Jan fence less then 1 star I would. We had a very large job done last summer while I was pregnant. I explained that the job would have two functions. The first: keep my 50 pound dog in. The second: keep the deer out. When they came to instal they decided without telling us that they are going to terrace it, leavening large gaps in several places. When I explained that I was concerned, the "Forman" said "don't worry we'll put chicken wire". I explained that while my dog isn't the smartest, my understanding is that chicken wire is to contain chickens, not dogs and that my dog would likely break through (Which he did). If I hadn't been so exhausted or pregnant I would likely had pushed back but they told me if we had issues to call. Now fast forward 7 months and we have a fence that is only a suggestion in that it doesn't contain the dog since he's can push and bend the wire and the gate us almost hanging by it's hinges. We paid a LOT of $$$ and no one will return our calls after our initial complaint. Ryan's response was- "I'll come out of courtesy this one time but reinforced wire at the bottom wasn't part of the quote and it isn't my fault your dog digs" Excuse me? Shouldn't it ALL be reinforced wire since it's job is to contain a pet? BTW if you go to Home Depot the next fade up from chicken wire is something called "reinforced wire for pet containment". Now we have and expensive suggestion that marks our property line, doesn't keep our dog in and is falling apart. Calls and emails go unanswered, it's amazing that this place is still up and running. Bad situation turned good. My neighbor recently contracted with Jan Fence. We had similar wooden fences which were joined by a mutual post (agreed to by both parties). This post, however, was also supporting a small 4 foot final section which completed the run of the fence to enclose my yard. Recently, neighbor decided to put in a white vinyl fence. The mutual wooden post, for some reason, was not considered when the new fence plan was laid out. On the day of installation of the new fence, I was asked, by the installing team, if they could remove the post. What then would happen to my section of the fence? The team promised a new post would be put up, and they would connect a small section of vinyl to keep my yard enclosed. I agreed. At the completion of the job, the team leader knocked on my door and said he did not have a post to connect the section. However, he said he would be back another day and complete the job. He left the portions of the fence that were needed and we exchanged cell phone numbers; so there was no reason to doubt him. Long story short, after days turned into weeks and a series of unreturned phone calls, hang ups, and unanswered messages, I went to the Wayne office myself. I spoke with Thomas Miller, the Operations Manager. He seemed skeptical at first, but promised me that the situation would be remedied, one way or another, by the end of the following week. Sure enough, by the end of the week a different crew (of two men) came and installed a new vinyl section. Thanks to Thomas Miller and Oswaldo Rodriguez reason prevailed. Remember, I was not even their contracted customer. They made a bad situation good. I am now considering using Jan Fence to replace my old fence. read more

1 star only because I can't have no stars. So I have a sales person come out and I made it apparently clear I need my fence flush to the ground because I have dogs and there can't be any gaps. I was assured over and over again no problem! installation team comes out tell the installer absolute only one stipulation no gaps flush to the ground, again I get "no problem". Two-day job turned into one day which you think would be great accept it causes them to rush . I kept saying there's gaps, " don't worry we're not finished we'll hit down the posts and will get it down." 6:30 pm rolls in it starts raining and 123 they are cleaned up and out. Gaps on all sides!!! I call , I send emails with pictures back and forth. Today finally the sales men comes back out takes pictures tells me" I can see your point in some spots. " Now I get a call from the office there're giving me a big $100 off for my 3 days worth of work to make my $8000 Fence usable. Really I don't think you charge $100 for 3 days worth of labor. WORST EVER! we had a fence installed by JAN FENCE for Home Depot. The post were deceptively pack with sand while only a couple were properly cemented. After a few years the fence was useless. The proof is still there and the fence just flops around. I can pick the entire fence out of the ground. Jem Fence would not send someone to look at it after the warranty was up. Thier workmanship very shoddy. Home Depot installation manager at the North Bergen Home Depot was no better and said there was no copy of the contract they could find and pointed the finger at Jem Fence. I went to customer service and got a copy no problem. Both companies acted poorly. read more

If I had more yards, I'd hire them again. Not only did the gentleman come out for an estimate, but we made a change in the order and he was so polite on his second time out. The estimates were spot on right. Within 3 weeks we had a completely fenced in back yard. The estimator said it was a two day job, the crew did it in one. Jan Fence installed a fence around my pool area roughly 15 years ago and did a great job. So when it was time this year to extend the fence around the rest of my yard, using them again seemed like a no brainer. Unfortunately, their quote seemed so high to me that I was forced to get 2 other quotes to double check. The other 2 quotes were both from reputable fence companies and both were MUCH less. In fact, one was almost 50% cheaper. I emailed the guy who gave me the quote 2 times just to ask to check his estimate but never heard back. No email, no phone call. I used Jan Fence in 2011 to install a 5 foot White 5 ft Foot fence around my back yard. I had a shed in the corner of my property . I removed the shed and the fence wasn't installed behind the shed in a a large corner even though I paid for it.I emailed 3 times and called and finally they contacted me and said do to glitch , they never saw my emails. Finally they came 3 weeks latter to give me an estimate. The salesman gave me a very high estimate and said he would email me the estimate within 24 hours. Which was weeks ago and never got the email.Meanwhile I had contacted other business . They all pointed out what a poor installation job they did and gave me much lower estimates and all pointed out what was wrong with Jan's installation and what had to be done to correct it. Very pleasant experience working with Jan fence and most reasonable in pricing compared to other quotes. There are gaps in the bottom of the fencing in some areas however our yard is on a hill and not level so this was to be expected and we have filled those gaps with white lattice matching the white vinyl fencing - looks great and keeps our dog in the yard! Scammers. Should be in jail for fraud. I went to purchase aluminum fence for around my pool. They showed me Jerith Fence and used their name so there was no mistaken as to what I was paying for. After 2 years the black finish coat peeled off so I contacted Jerith fence because it's guaranteed for life. After careful review it was determined it was NOT jerith fence. These dirtbags gave me a much cheaper lower quality fence which the sections were weak and started to sag as well. Dishonest. I lost in the end. read more

Never looked at my land survey until I made them, so I don't know why you bother submitting it to begin with. Destroyed my bushes/shrubs after I was told twice that everything would remain as is and they could work with it and nothing would have to be removed.
