Super trustworthy shop and workers. Jesse took care of me and I have to thank him so much. I drove around with my car overheating for more than a year, having to blast the heater to regulate the temperature. Every place I took my car to get an estimate would tell me it was the head gasket that was messed up and were all trying to charge me between $2000 to $4500 for the job. When I called Jesse, he said to bring it in and they would check some other things that could be the problem first; he told me it didn't necessarily had to be the head gasket. He was an honest person and figured out the problem was that the filters were completely clogged and a pipe was burst. The head gasket was completely fine. He saved me thousands in a fix that my car didn't need. He's awesome! I will honestly keep bringing my car to him. I finally found an honest and great mechanic I can bring my car for any problem. I was recommended to try Jams out with my '71 Cadillac that had been in a garage since 2003. Other mechanics I used couldn't seem to get the starting problem I had n get the knocking in the engine to go away. Jams went a test drive with me n immediately understood what I was going thru. He went in and made the correct spacer I needed to connect the fly wheel with the starter n also got the knocking out of the engine n showed me everything under the car that was causing leaks from the transmission n engine I truly wasted money with other mechanics n wish I had known about him from the start. I've had my 1987 BMW 325 for several years now, and although I've kept up the maintenance I started feeling that the car was not performing as it should and my clutch was not shifting smoothly. I needed to get serious repairs done to the vehicle. I spent some time researching different shops all around the LA area looking at experience, quotes for the main repairs, and customer service. BY far Jesse Mejia at Jams Automobile seemed to the best option for what I was looking for; all the great reviews on different websites spoke of his experience, he gave me the best and most honest quotes for the parts and for his work/repairs, and his costumer service on the phone and in person is reassuring that your working with someone with confidence in his work. Jesse and his team had the experience to work on my vehicle where other mechanics were not confident to do so or just didn't seem like they were once I meet with them. Jesse kept in constant communication during all the repairs and gave me reasonable time frame for the completion of the work. New clutch was put in, maintenance to engine, gas pump replacement were some of the jobs done and all parts replaced with OEM (original) parts. Jesse gives great attention to detail where he even replaced a broken door handle cover that I didn't even ask him to replace and was not charged for, which I thought was a nice gesture, I guess that's the type of person he is and the type of detailed job you can expect from him. It's been six months since the work was done and the vehicle is running great. Recently got a Smog check, it passed without any issues and the technician was impressed on how good the engine sounded and performed for a vehicle from the 80s. Anyone that has ever driven these E30s know how fun a well maintained one can be to drive and Jesse and his team restored that for this car; it's extremely appreciated. Jesse even provided suggestions in detail on what other areas of the vehicle may require maintenance in the future. He did a 360 inspection on the car. I'm extremely satisfied with the teams work and impressed by their customer service. I'm in the process of scheduling another appointment with the shop to continue with the great maintenance and restoration. At Jams Automobile you'll work with experienced professionals who really do pride themselves on making sure your vehicle comes out performing as it should, and that care about the satisfaction of the customer. Does not abide by their estimates. Tells you what it will cost and invariably the final bill is higher. This happened more than twice. The straw that broke the camel's back with me was that they did work on the engine...engine blows up 3 days later and then claims that it's my fault and charges me more to fix it. I do not recommend this mechanic and will be looking for a new one. read more

I have had a great experience with Jesse, I'm the owner of a mobile business, and I trust my 3 Vans, my girlfriend's car, and my car to him. What makes me said this? I have a 4runner 2000 and for the last 4 years I had a vibration on the steering wheel, I took my cars at lease 10 times to fix it but no one could figure it out. Being new in town I went here for some minor repair. The owner Jesse seemed trustworthy after talking to him on two different occasions. I thought is this too good to be true? A mechanic that is actually a nice guy.Here's where it went South. I called him for a quote on a job. I told him what Pep Boys told me. He berated them and all the others like them. Said they sell you junk. He told me a price of what I could expect (ball park figure), that was good for me. Told me how he would "check out the system to make sure everything was good" etc. Wow I thought. This guy goes above and beyond customer service! Went to have the job done. Checked all the fluids to make sure I was ready to roll. He suggested that I get an oil change for an over inflated price. My oil was just changed 1500 miles ago. Red flags went up and I declined on it. Now comes my bill.... Charged me 1/3 more than he quoted me for the part. I was actually OK with that. He tacked on the diagnostic check for $50. It took 3 minutes. He tacked on the installment labor at $55. It took 20 minutes. That means he gets $165 an hour for labor,Really? Make sure you understand everything he says does comes with a price although he make it sound like a courtesy. He really got angry when I wouldn't let him take advantage of me. BEWARE! read more

HORRIBLE!!!! This place is a rip off as is Jesse!! Took my car in to get it checked out and he said he will check for free (diagnosis) and let me know how much it is to fix it. I asked to know what exactly needs to be fixed so I can go and buy the part by myself and just pay him for labor. I got several opinions and now had an overall idea what exactly needed to be replaced. He was charging me for the part itself 110$ when at Honda it's 65$. He said he will not do it unless I pay him whatever he charges for that part. Well you know what FUCK YOU!! Worst service and frankly he is rude too. Why would I pay you 110$ for the part if I can go buy the damn part myself?? You lost me as a customer , and the 3 cars in the family. Congrats on having an effed up business!!! Do NOT go here. I normally don't post any reviews nor do I read them, however, I felt that I needed to share how happy and satisfied I am with Jams Automobile's service. I drive a 95' Toyota 4Runner. I had engine problems that I thought were fixed by a prior mechanic. I decided to take it to Jams Automobile to get a second opinion. Jesse was meticulous with my car's diagnosis. He called me and walked me through all the issues that the last mechanic failed to resolve. He even recommended that I come to the shop to take a look at the problems. I'll be honest, I don't know much about cars. Jesse walked me through each problem in great detail and explained why certain parts were failing my engine. Essentially my engine was "weak" because the cylinder head, head gasket, and timing belt were in low condition or not properly put together. Jesse is honest with his work and very knowledgeable. He shared that he only uses quality parts and explained how some mechanics cut corners and use low quality parts to profit from their clients. I left that conversation knowing that I'm paying for excellent service and quality car parts. My 95' Toyota 4Runner has never felt better! Best mechanic in the city! Went to three different mechanics to fix a "rotor" issue on my mom's 2005 Chevy Colorado. Each one fixed something remotely related to the problem and collected their fees ($2300 in all). One actually replaced the rotor with a cheap knockoff and sold it to me as a genuine Chevy part ( it said that on the receipt!). Jessie kept the car for four days going over all of it's problems and fixed every one! All the funny noises were gone! The car actually felt ten times better. Jesse showed me the "genuine Chevy part" and explained to me why it was not compatible with my car's electronics. I wasted a lot of time and money going to other mechanics. The whole family now takes our cars to Jessie's shop, even for small jobs like oil change. We do not trust anyone else. Since this job, Jessie has worked on my 2003 Chevy Silverado (major tune-up and fuel pump), my sister's Kia Optima (clutch), my girlfriend's Dodge Stratus (windows and transmission), and my brother's motorcycle. Jessie can fix anything!! If my washing machine breaks down, he'll probably be the first one I call. Just go talk to him and let him take a look at your car's issues. I promise you will wonder why you haven't heard of this magical mechanic before. I hope he doesn't get too popular or I might have to start making appointments instead of dropping by like I do now. read more

I have been meaning to write this review for a long time (I guess quarantine finally got me to do it). In my opinion, there is no better, no more honest, no more trustworthy car mechanic in Los Angeles. Okay, I haven't been to all of the mechanics in LA. But I've been to enough, and having been to Jesse at Jams Automobile for the past 11 years (I remember his first tiny shop on Overland), I know that he is a good, honest man. He works extremely hard, alongside his sons. His work is specific and detailed. He is truly an expert. His top interest is repairing your car so that it runs like new and so that you aren't stuck paying for more costly repairs in the future. He preaches the philosophy of caring for what you have (instead of running it into the ground and then going out and buying new -- something quite profound in our consumption-driven age). And on top of that, he has always been a kind and generous man to me and my wife. One small example -- nearly a decade ago, when I was taking my 1989 Camry in for some significant repairs that were going to require a week, he loaned me one of his other cars for that week so I could still get around. Honest, reliable, affordable, courteous, and customer service oriented - why are you having your car serviced anywhere else? I found Jams Automobile in a search to have my 2000 CRV engine repaired. After calling several garages for quotes, I got Jesse on the phone. His quote was not only 30% less than his best competitor, but he spent 20 minutes with me on the phone explaining the process. Duly impressed, I entrusted my limping CRV to Jesse. Upon dropping my car off, I was comforted by his genuine interest in repairing and maintaining older cars. I'm not very mechanically inclined, so it was nice to have him show me where the problems lay, explain the basic mechanics, and never condescend. He made me feel like I had a good, solid, reliable car with a few maintenance problems, and he was looking forward to getting it back on the road. Jesse really goes out of his way to earn your trust, and follows up with great results. Within a few days, my car was running like new again. Unfortunately, through my own procrastination, my registration had lapsed, and I was going to have to have the car smogged to re-register. Well, the car didn't pass. I took the car back to Jesse with smog papers immediately. Jesse dropped everything and gave me his full attention. How's that for service? He explained the rule-outs for the problem -- saying it may be a problem with the catalytic converter, but it may just be that the car needed to blow off some caked-on emissions before retesting. He explained that he'd hate to change out a good factory cat for an inferior part, so it was worth trying to drive it out if I was game. I was shocked -- this guy was trying to save me money?! How many business people, let alone mechanics, can you say that about? It turned out that after a couple of tests, the catalytic converter was truly shot, but I greatly appreciated Jesse's honesty, availability, and respect for my old car. He replaced the cat quickly, and at a good price. My car continues to run without any problems, both in the city and on road-trips (which I was once afraid to attempt with my old car)! I'm looking forward to continuing to maintain my car with Jams, and recommend Jesse and his crew to anyone. read more
