My husband purchased a bracelet for me at James Wolf for Christmas. The claw was too small for me to put on without assistance. I was planning to take it in and have a bigger clasp put on. In the mean time I found a bracelet at another jeweler that I like better. Unfortunate, James Wolf Jewler isn't an authorized dealer for the designer. I have the receipt for the bracelet but since it's past their 20 day after Christmas return policy they will only offer a store credit instead of crediting my husbands debit card. Unfortunately, since they are a smaller jeweler, they have very little inventory for me to choose a different bracelet. They are very friendly but I am very disappointed in their lack of Customer Satisfaction. read more

When I visited this location the owner told me it would cost $60 to resize my fiancé's engagement ring. On top of that, he estimated it would take two weeks. I thought this was absurd so I went to a different jeweler and was able to get the ring resized for $16 in less than 24 hours. Let me start off by describing a little bit about myself and my appearance. I am heavily tattooed (you know, the scary prison style tattoos of flowers, music notes, Yoda, and Dragon Ball Z), I usually wear jeans and a clean, white t-shirt and vans, and I used to have large piercings in my ears. When I went to this store looking for an engagement ring for my now fiancee, I was greeted by a short, balding man in a nice suit. He was pleasant enough at first, but seemed very skittish by my appearance and almost was annoyed to be dealing with me. Now, I'm pretty aware already that he's thinking that I'm just pretending to want to buy. I'm used to being treated like a criminal, having employees get nervous around me, having people stare when I go into higher-end stores like this, but I never expected to be spoke to the way he spoke to me. When I found a few different options that I thought my then-girlfriend would like, I was met with the same response each time. "Oh, that's a great choice, but it is a little expensive. are you sure you wouldn't want something a little less pricey?" I told the employee the same thing each time he hinted that I might not have the money for what I was looking at. "I make enough money for anything in this store." And he would simply give me a sarcastic grin and say, "I see." and proceed to show me the lowest-quality, lowest-price items in his store. At this point, I walked out in the middle of him talking. I saw a ring that I wanted to buy and thought about just paying for it and leaving, but I could not bring myself to spend money at an establishment that treats people with this much disrespect and with such a, "We're better than you attitude." Here's the thing. I speak 3 languages fluently, I work for an international company as Marketing and Advertising Director, and I live in an expensive apartment just blocks away from this location, and I make a lot of money. I would have easily spent thousand of dollars on a ring that I wanted from this location, but because of the way I was talked down to like a child who doesn't know what he's saying, I went elsewhere for my jewelry. I will never again step foot into this location. I purchased a ring elsewhere for lower cost than a similar one was here. This location could have gained a sale more than $5,000, repeat business, and a recommendation to all my friends to go here, instead they lost the sale, my respect, and any potential sale I hear about. I will always tell my friends, family, and anyone who mentions jewelry to go somewhere else because of my experience at this location. It's true what everyone told me before I moved here; Mason is full of stuck-up people who think that everyone else is trash. read more

Superior customer service. Brought in a photo of a ring design I was looking for but unfortunately James Wolf didn't have one, or even one similar in stock. Salesperson recommended making one to my design specifications. The questions regarding the design started out fairly benign (e.g. ring size, types of stones, metal type) but then the questions were more specific; hand the ring will be worn on, if stackable the other ring types it will be worn with, and many other questions that I can't remember.... my point is they are very thorough (come prepared). After all the parts came in they suggested a sit down to review the design with the actual ring and stones prior to final assembly. I am definitely a fan of James Wolf jewelers. I have had several pieces of jewelry repaired and it was always done quickly and looked great. Very reasonable for the work that needed to be done. I have also had a necklace created from my mother-in-laws anniversary ring. They were so patient in assisting me in the creation of this piece of jewelry. I absolutely love the design. My husband and I came in to buy a replacement wedding/engagement set for our 20th anniversary. We planned on spending $5-6k, but we were dressed casually and I wasn't wearing any jewelry or make-up. Despite being two working professionals, we like to be comfortable and dressed pretty down on the weekends. The jeweler kept steering us toward the cheapest things in the store. I asked to see platinum and he suggested palladium and tungsten. When I checked to make sure the rings weren't plated, he explained to me in the kind of voice jerks use on little children that palladium was on the periodic table. I'm aware. Also not the question I asked, thanks. We were also advised of a payment plan we hadn't asked for. Repeatedly. I suggest dressing to the 9's to visit this shop unless you like your service with a smile and and a big heap of condescension. read more

They did this, right before christmas, and truthfully, they probably made no money on it. GREAT customer service! I bought a $300 ring and a watch band, but was treated like I was spending ten times that. They really understood that while it wasn't an expensive ring, it was my wedding ring and I'd be wearing it the rest of my life. I've been using them for quite a few years and have never had a problem. The customer service is outstanding but this time I was very disappointed . I took my daughter's Tiffany bracelet there to get the clasp fixed and when I got it back today they didn't even polish it or clean it and you can see the solder marks and all the scratches. I came here since Julie recommended it, and she and I usually agree on places to eat. There was also another review on Google that helped me want to go here for a recent gemstone upgrade. The place is not far from my work, so that helped. I will say that I absolutely hate jewelry stores and loathe going to them, especially since most employee the pushiest of sales people, but the reviews made me think this would not be one of those stores, and I was right. I have been to a few that were ok, but nothing outstanding, until I came to James Wolf. The place is no-pressure, extremely kind and friendly, and they provide excellent service. I know my circumstances were a matter of good timing, but I had a ring's gemstone upgraded last minute and within 5 days I was able to drop off my ring, pick from 2 possible matching stones to upgrade (both of great quality but one slightly darker and thus more expensive), have my ring sent off to have the new stone put in, then returned and available for pickup - all within 5 days! That just blows me away. I couldn't believe how fast they were able to make this happen, especially b/c I only had about a week and a half to work with. Jim and his wife are very friendly and I really appreciated their honesty and the fact that they care more about what will look good as opposed to what is more expensive. When looking at the stones, Jim suggested the less expensive stone saying that particular gemstone looks better when it's not very dark, which was great b/c I was thinking the same thing. I am glad I have finally found a jeweler that I can depend on to be honest with me, and give fair prices and even better service. I will not go anywhere else from now on. read more
