I made an appointment with Dr. Eckstein for a second opinion for wisdom teeth removal for both of my kids. Dr . Eckstein listened to my concerns (previous oral surgeon made us uncomfortable having teeth out), confidently explained everything to my kids and their surgery and their follow up visit went without a hitch. His staff is organized, friendly and efficient . It is located in an easily accessible area and plenty of parking also. Thank you for taking such good care of my kids!! read more

My son was put under to remove his 4 wisdom teeth. Very impacted. Dr Eckstein was amazing and his staff as well. Highly recommend!

My twin brother Jeremy was a victim of a horrific crime that took out all his front teeth. Dr James Eckstein victimized my brother all over again with no regard to his pain that he experienced before or during his appointment with Dr Eckstein. He never asked my brother if he wanted general anesthesia or local anesthesia for pretty difficult and painful procedures. Although my brother tells him he's hurting the only thing that Dr x tank can do is huff and puff his way out of the problem until it goes away with my brother goes away. They treat my brother with disrespect they don't listen to him they don't give me any information on what is to be done or what's going on. read more

I have nothing but great things to say about Dr. Eckstein and his staff. We have now been to his office for two procedures for my daughter. The first was to have her impacted tooth anchored so that it would move down into the right position with her braces. Now, she had all of her wisdom teeth pulled. Both times she was under anesthesia and everything went super smooth. We have always felt very safe and comfortable. The staff is always helpful from making appointments, explaining procedures, coordinating with insurance, etc. The office is comfortable and there have never been any problems. I have one more daughter who will need her wisdom teeth out and this will be where we go. Thank you! read more

Four Teeth pulled not a bruise. They told me what they were doing all along the way they were gentle and and just so caring. They were never pressuring. They were always working with me and I really really it's my third time there for different things and I would go back if I have to have anything else done read more

I was referred to Dr Eckstein by my dentist & I am SOOOOO glad he did. OMG! The BEST experience I have EVER had in regards to dental work. I must say everybody must love their jobs because EVERYBODY was so pleasant. On the day of my surgery I was in & out in 20 minutes & that includes me signing my consent form and paying for my procedure. When I went to the back room Nancy was as sweet as pie. She assured me I was in great hands. She kept me distracted as we waited for the numbing solution to work. Dr. Eckstein came in with all smiles and reminded me that it will be minimal pain. When he lifted my chair I couldn't believe he had already taken out 2 of my teeth! I had to ask him twice. LOL! I took the whole day off, but in essence I could have went to work. I wasn't in any pain. it was just tender. This is day 3 & I still have yet to feel in true pain. I HIGHLY recommend this office. You will not be disappointed! Thank you for giving me such a great experience. It shows dental work doesn't have to be horrible. read more

Dr. Eckstein is an incredible gentleman. He is a kind and compassionate person who treats his patient apprised about each step throughout the procedure. He is an excellent surgeon and a very kind and friendly person who cares about his patient's welfare at all times. As a "professional dental patient", I have been to many dental professionals; Dr. Eckstein is Number One. He is a perfectionist who has made every procedure a good experience with an excellent outcome. The entire staff is bright and friendly. Dr. Eckstein has stellar bedside manners, GREAT at what he does, and compassion for your needs! I had molar cut out and bone grafting....yes...OUCH! But he made sure I was not in any pain and talked to me throughout the procedure and even called me later on that night to make sure I was okay read more

Dr. Eckstein is really been very helpful for the process of myself getting braces. I have been to his office three times in the last few months the first to remove 4 teeth surgically to prepare myself for my orthodontist. During this process I requested to be put to sleep I was in and out before I knew it. My second visit was to install a TAD to help my teeth move for my orthodontist. I have had nothing but a great experience with Dr. Eckstein probably is one of the best oral surgeons around San Diego you will not find someone more professional than he. The receptionist are always friendly & polite over the phone & in person. There has never been a a wait, every time I have gone in I'm always in and out without delay. Dr Eckstein has two locations one and El Cajon & the other in North Park it's always advised to schedule a appointment in advance at the location nearest you! read more

All I have to say is wow. I have had my fair share of horrible dentistry. I had 2 wisdom teeth removed with another doctor and had a horrible experience. I was super swollen had tremendous pain and had gotten sick from the anasthesia. So getting my other 2 removed was traumatizing to me. My dentist recommended Dr Ekcstein. When I left I was able to walk to the car. I had no pain or swelling all day yesterday. Today I woke up expecting to be in pain and have swelling but there is still none of that. Obviously my jaw is a little sore and I had a bit of a sore throat yesterday but today I'm fine. I feel pretty darn good. I have never had a better experience. The nurse was great too. She had me under before I could even think about it. 10 out of 10 would recommend 100 times over. read more

I have a fear of anything dental. So imagine my dismay when my dentist told me my wisdom teeth had to be removed. Ugh. My dentist referred me to Dr. Eckstein at the Center for Oral and Facial Surgery in El Cajon. My consult went very well; he did a great job explaining my x-rays to me, the procedure, my options for going under vs. laughing gas. On the day of my surgery, I was a little nervous, but the entire staff made me feel at ease, and Dr. Eckstein took care of those wisdom teeth in no time flat...no, really, it only took 19 minutes for him to extract them. Nathan C. was flabergasted, especially since we were originally told it would take about an hour and a half. During my recovery weekend, Dr. Eckstein was even kind enough to call me to see how I was doing. Seriously. I have faith in dentists again. read more

I just got off the phone with Dr. Eckstein! It's 9:00 pm and he called to check on my 6 year old daughter who had 7 frenectomies and 3 teeth removed today. Having my sweet girl put to sleep and go through this procedure was heartbreaking but I can say that through prayer and confidence in Dr Eckstein's abilities, we made it through! Dr Miller was the anesthesiologist and his calm, confident, approachable demeanor with my daughter put me at ease. He had her pick out a scent for her "sleeping gas mask." The office staff were kind and offered me tissue while I waited. Let me also praise Stephanie (in office billing) at the Hillcrest office for her ABOVE and Beyond help with getting this procedure paid for by our medical insurance due to my daughters medical condition. read more

Dr Eckstein did my complicated impacted wisdom tooth surgery, as well as two separate oral surgeries for my daughter. All three times he was caring, patient, professional, and knowledgable. I was extremely nervous about my oral surgery, having been to another surgeon within my medical group who had an entirely different, more invasive, treatment plan for me. I consulted with Dr Eckstein and left knowing I'd be going to him to do my surgery. Not only because it was much less invasive, but because of his professional demeanor, his patience in explaining everything to me, and the confidence in his skills he instilled in me. The other surgeon would have been covered 100% by my medical insurance, but it was worth it to me to have to pay out of pocket for some of the costs to go with Dr Eckstein through my dental insurance. My surgery went smoothly, and I had zero nerve damage from roots that were very close the the nerve- something that was said to be a guarantee according to the other surgeon. He checked in on me via phone later in the evening personally, which I felt was very impressive and comforting. I did end up with a dry socket during recovery but Dr Eckstein fixed me up and I had literal immediate relief. I hope I don't need anymore oral surgery, but if I do I will most definitely be returning to him. Professional, compassionate, and skilled. read more

Dr. Eckstein did both my sister and my wisdom teeth removal as well as two dental implants on me (including a bone graft). He is very kind and caring and was always willing to explain questions on both charges and surgery details. The entire staff was wonderful, I have absolutely no complaints. They even kept the office open late so I could pick up some tools for my periodontist one day. I doubt there are many places that would do that. I had 3 oral surgeries at this office and can highly recommend it! read more

Becky N My consult with Dr Eckstein went very well. All my options were discussed and his kind caring manner is really appreciated. Over the last 10 years, I have had 2 root canals, a crown and oral surgery on my number 5 tooth. It just got to the point it couldn't be saved. I had it removed and a bone graft placed. Now we wait for a few months for the bone to grow enough to support an implant and new crown. The entire staff at this Center for Oral Surgery are kind, pleasant people and they helped me thru the procedure with as much comfort as possible. I thank them very much for this. read more
