Incredible therapist. She does EMDR and we worked through sex traumas, religious trauma,…read morerelationship skills, parts work (IFS or internal family systems) and so much more. If you can get in with Dr. Michaelson, do it.

She is a compassionate and careful listener who provides practical solutions to problems that seem hard to manage and solve on your own. Her action plan always reflects where you are, what type of parent you are and what your needs are -- rather than following a particular method. The plan evolves after your session with her through email contact and continued direction and encouragement. And by "plan" i mean you will get an email outlining what you are going to do (which you, of course, discussed in your session). It eliminates all the self-doubt, questioning and middle-of-the-night-internet-combing! Many of the reviews here are about her help with sleep training -- and she has worked miracles in our house including teaching me to help our son (age 4) to sleep through the night (again) on his own. he stopped after the birth of our daughter... AND training our daughter to sleep through the night -- which included a comprehensive plan related to eating and nap schedules too. But where Jessica has brought me the most peace is with behavior "problems" my son was having at school and at home. I felt so out of control and desperate...and Jessica calmly and entirely without judgment or shame helped us learn how to help him and help ourselves. In one session, she reviewed his school parent/teacher evaluation form with me and provided me with reassurance, encouragement and direction. She provided information about age-appropriate expectations and behaviors. We have learned, with jessica's help, to help our son manage his own emotions -- an invaluable skill -- and have learned how we participate in escalating or, hopefully, deescalating emotional situations. I am so very grateful for Jessica's skill and compassion. She has been an invaluable part of my growth as a mom.

I came to see her initially because of a specific issue I was trying to work through and have continued to see her because she makes my life so much better. I feel lighter after I see her and more equipped to handle difficult situations. She is never judgmental and we have covered a range of life topics from career to marriage to family planning. She is so attentive and thoughtful with her advice and what I appreciate most is how focussed she is on gradual solutions to achieve your goal. It never feels like she is asking me infinite questions with no direction - it is a genuine conversation with real feedback and applicable advice. She is also available via text - which I appreciate - and can be flexible to get you in for an appointment at a convenient time. There is parking in front of her office and she has never once been even a minute late. Go see her!

She's relatable, attentive and gives non-bias advice and support. I always leave each session with "homework" and goals to aim for as well as podcasts and book recommendations. She is also flexible and easy to reach in a pinch! I don't know what I'd do without her.

Please do yourself, your family, and your loved ones a big favor and avoid this "doctor" at all…read morecosts. Read below for why. Our daughter's appointment today was the first time we had the opportunity for an in-person visit. She had prior sessions remotely but after she was prescribed amphetamines, we wanted to go in as a family to discuss before putting her on the medication. This class of drug can have serious side-effects and a strong proclivity for tolerance and addiction and thought it best to go in as a family to talk over the diagnosis and rationale for the prescription. One would think that would be welcomed considering the name of the practice "FAMILY Mental Health". The visit had started fine as the staff seemed friendly but it didn't take long for the experience to turn into a nightmare. Our daughter was taken back 25 minutes after our scheduled appointment time. The "doctor" requested he talk with her alone before we met as a family. No problem. We waited more and were invited into a disheveled and frankly, filthy room to meet. The unkempt "doctor" asked why we had come in and we replied with our desire for more information and our questions/concerns surrounding amphetamine treatment. They may have been difficult questions for the "doctor" but we were unexpectedly met with extreme adversity. The man claimed that I was the one that needed therapy. In front of our daughter. I raised my eyebrow but tried to shrug it off and continue the conversation as to how he arrived at his diagnosis. He gave us no comprehensible reasons, examples, or answers. After listening, I was understandably even more skeptical on putting our child on this potentially dangerous medication. He then proceeded to get visibly upset with me for questioning him. I did nothing wrong. I was calm, respectful, and never accusatory in the slightest. Here's the kicker, he then proceeded to tell me that he'll be happy to treat my daughter going forward but refuses to speak with me directly EVER again. Absolutely stunned, my wife and I left the dirty room so the "doctor" could wrap the visit up. We all left several minutes later. I asked my daughter if she wanted to tell us what he said in those final minutes alone with him. She did and told us that he had the audacity to tell her that she "needs extreme therapy to deal with your parents" and that "parents are always the problem, that's why I don't deal with them anymore". Mind blowing... If you are looking for a new mental health practitioner, run away. Run far away. And please reconsider if you are a patient or a parent of a patient here. This quack is rude, unprofessional, and downright dangerous.
