After driving an hour and a half from my home in Southern Utah, cause good dentist are hard to find, I checked in with the receptionist for my dental exam and cleaning. When I walked in I was greeted with a "What's up?!" I told her I had an appointment with Dr. Ence and she scarfed at me to "SIT DOWN!" and pointed at the chairs, and I would be called back, like I'm a toddler or dog or something. 45 minutes later I was never called back. I watched person after person who came in after me get called back. Finally after I watched one person who said they had a 230pm appointment and I had a 2pm appointment, get called back, I got up and left and told them to cancel my appointment. They tried to call me back on the phone, and put the blame on me saying I checked in with the wrong receptionist, when there was only one there when I arrived. I guess I'm supposed to know and track down the proper receptionist or something, when they all sit at the same undivided desk.
Also, if you see a person sitting in the waiting room for close to an hour, would you not ask them if they have been checked in or need some assistance?
Perhaps if the receptionist wasn't so busy talking to some dude about her weekend at a Vegas Bon Jovi concert, she wouldn't have forgotten about me an got me checked in properly. Not to mention my wife also had an appointment after mine and was out in the parking lot with my one year old son waiting patiently on me to be done so I could come watch our kid while she gets her teeth cleaned.
To be fair, the Dentist and Hygienist are great at this office, and do a great job. The rudeness and snappiness of the receptionist leave something to be desired when scheduling appointments and checking in.
Also I have never been taken back on time at this office even when checking in early, a 15-20 minute delay is average.
We have decided to find another dentist. Your teeth will get taken care of here, but be prepared to deal with a rude receptionist.
