First, James is brilliant: he told me I wouldn't have to come in until 5 months, and sure enough that was correct! My hair grew out beautifully and seemed to be a lot healthier. As for the cut this time - I could not be happier, I felt like a hair model walking out. Not too mention the awesome head massage from a newer guy who shampooed me :) The receptionist was so sweet and accommodating as well. James has a really good thing going on here. My ultrafine hair is a puzzle/pain for stylists. I was very happy with James when I went to him years ago. However, when I moved away, I tried for years to find a replacement. I was looking for a new salon for my short, fine, cowlicky hair. Based on reviews I read I went to James three months ago. Was very pleased then and each cut he has given me since is better than the last. My hair is easy to work with, looks as good at the end of the day as it looked first thing in the morning which is saying a lot for my fine limp hair. If you're going anywhere else, you're missing out. I have been a customer of James literally all my life. I recently went abroad for a year and had my hair cut+colored at the famous Trevor Sorbie Covent Garden salon. The Art Director did my cut, and while she did a great job, it was still nothing compared to what James can do. I have seen him work miracles on the most processed, damaged hair, sending clients out looking like they have virgin hair. Over a year and a half period, James put multiple colors in my hair and bleached parts several times. By all standards, my hair should be dry and falling out. But, James' products choices and techniques mean my hair always stayed amazingly healthy--more so than my friends who have never so much as dyed their hair once. Also, James is a simply wonderful person. His wife Janet is a gem as well--she does the most relaxing facials, and is an all-around talented esthetician. The salon also offers mani/pedis and some specialized esthetic services. I should also note that James knows exactly what will look good on which people. I've discussed a few hair colors/cuts with him that he quickly talked me out of because he knew they wouldn't look good (thank the gods of hair for this man). He never sends anyone out of his salon looking any less than their best. I can honestly say I don't know what I will do when I am out of college and (probably) will have to find a new hairdresser. He took his time to assess the condition of my hair, discussed the amount of time I commit styling and the look that I was going for....but he was very confident to share his opinion of what he thought would look good for the structure of my face, etc. I must say I have never had any stylist layer my hair the way he did! Just beautiful! Also, made a really great decision about color. I will definitely return to this salon for future services. James even fed my meter for the car! Wow! Can't get much better. James is one of the best stylists I've gone to! The color he picks for you is perfect and the cut is great. I asked for a mid-length cut with some layers that would be easy to wash, dry, and go. He did an amazing job! My hair feels healthy again, definitely thicker and more full. I will go back to get highlights done soon and can't wait to see the result. Best haircut I ever got. I have been to many hair salons but James is a wizzard with the scissors! I have curly, pain in the butt hair and James knows how to "speak to it". The last time I had short hair was over a decade ago. The short haircut was so bad that I feared ever going short again. Nevertheless, the idea of a short haircut came to my mind over the last year or so. I kept both thinking about it and pushing it aside afraid of having a bad hair cut experience yet again. A friend of mine recently recommended James to me and spoke wonders about him. The decision was made then, I would attempt a short haircut again! I went to James about three weeks ago and I have nothing but positive things to say about my experience and haircut. The experience: James is a professional, knowledgeable, and wonderful individual. He took the time to listen and look over the ideas I had for the haircut I wanted. He summarized what he was going to do with my hair before even getting started with the cut, just to make sure we were on the same page. The haircut: James cut about 2/3 of my hair. I went from long to short and LOVED IT. The cut he did is fun, refreshing, and summery like. I have wavy hair and the cut matched it perfectly. It also needs little 'maintenance'. The minute I wanted into the salon, James and his wife made me feel right at home!
