What an excellent experience I had at this practice!…read more I booked an appointment 4 weeks out to see the optometrist at the Santa Rosa Costco because my Costco in Ukiah does not have an optometrist on-site, so I was referred to Santa Rosa. When I arrived at my appointment 4 weeks later, I was informed that SR Costco does not take my insurance which is VSP, pretty common insurance! I figured would give Target optical in SR shot to see if they would be able to see me. I knew it would be a long shot but as I said I am from Ukiah and did want to waste the drive and really needed to renew my contact prescription which had expired right at the beginning of the pandemic. My other option and the least favorite option was to drive to the Bay Area to see my old optometrist. When I arrived at SR Target I explained my situation to the Optical office Manager and she went to check with Dr. Lee to see if he would be able to give me an exam. Looong story short, he did! Dr.Lee is amazing I had a great conversation with him in the exam room. Not only is he professional, knowledgeable, but he's also personable, energetic, and has a great sense of humor! And his staff has the same energy! I am a super fan of stellar customer service and because of that I will definitely return and make the 1-hour drive for my next appointment!

I went on Yelp and decided to make an appointment at this Target location. Dr. Lee was very energetic and thorough. He explained every step of the process. The basic exam included testing my existing glasses, vision test, visual examination of the cornea, peripheral vision test, and a glaucoma test. I opted to go for the retinal scan which was an extra amount but at my age, it's worth it. Dr. Lee has a state of the art machine that doesn't require dilating the eyes. It takes a digital picture of the retina and the optic nerve. He took the time to explain the health of my eyes. The basic eye exam here was $104 less than Kaiser and even with the extra charge for the retinal scan, it was still $65 less than Kaiser's basic exam. I highly recommend Dr. Lee!

After 3 and 1/2 weeks I received a phone call to say the lab said they might be here middle of the week, making it 4 weeks. When I asked why I was told 'I don't know'. It seems Lyon's optometry could be more attentive following up on their glass orders with the laboratory. A 4 week wait is excessive, and I would expect them to follow up on late orders. I understand they are planning to roll out a concierge type service soon.

I went to Bennett Valley Optometry for an eye check-up and to order a new pair of glasses, and chose it because it offered the Optoscan (sp?) service, which is basically a machine that takes a scan of your entire eye at different depths using different colors. The front desk staff were friendly and warm, and Dr. Bowman was a very mellow, kind, and intelligent doctor who answered all of my questions thoroughly. I never felt rushed or dismissed, and he even used a very awesome eyeball model to explain to me what astigmatism was. He also showed me some very cool software that he used to analyze the optoscan images of my eyes and even told me where I could download the software so that I could try it out myself! (By the way, if you go with the Optoscan service, they send you wallpaper-sized images of your eye to your email.) He was also frank and candid about the advantages and disadvantages of laser eye surgery, since I was wondering whether it might work for me. For selecting glasses, I worked with Janine, who was very friendly and worked within the budget I gave her. She listened to my feedback, and based off of what I liked (thick wide frames) she found a selection of frames matching exactly just that. So, I had a hard time deciding. She brought out an iPad and took head on photos of me in different pairs of glasses for comparison. She then pulled up a library with different colors and styles for the frames I liked. In the end, I found exactly the type of frames I wanted. In terms of the length of time it took to receive the glasses (I ordered two pairs--one regular prescription, and the other prescription sunglasses with polarized lenses), it did take about two weeks (10 working days), so I would keep that in mind if you are in a rush and need glasses asap. Parking-wise, it's an open lot with plenty of spaces. Waiting room is quiet with plenty of neatly-organized magazines to appeal to any reader. In the actual eye examination room, they have Far Side comics...not that the wait was ever long enough for me to get very far into them.

Dr. Bansal and his team are truly phenomenal!…read more I've been wearing glasses and contacts for over 20 years and decided I finally wanted to pursue vision correction surgery. I came in for a consultation and after a thorough eye examination, I was notified that due to my high prescription and thin corneas, I was not eligible for Lasik, SMILE or PRK but was eligible for ICL (Implantable Collamer Lenses). I had not previously heard of ICL so the optometrist explained to me that it is a newer (at least in the U.S.) procedure during which micro incisions are made on the eyes and permanent lenses are inserted. The cost is significantly more than the other types of procedures ($11,800) but I was able to pay for half and then finance the other half through CareCredit. I was able to schedule my procedure for the following month after my initial consultation. Dr. Bansal was very transparent during my pre-op appointment and notified me that due to my high prescription and a genetic deformity in my right eye, I would not be able to get to 20/20 vision but would get close. The procedure itself was a breeze and completely painless. I was given Ativan and numbing eye drops. The longest part was waiting for my eyes to completely dilate in the surgery waiting room. I actually fell asleep in there until I was woken up and notified that it was surgery time. The procedure took less than 3 minutes per eye - it was extremely quick! I did not feel any pain, but did feel a little bit of pressure. The most uncomfortable part was having to stare up at an extremely bright light while Dr. Bansal performed the surgery. As soon as it was over and I was wheeled into the recovery room, my vision was already clear! My contact lens prescription was -9.00 in my left eye and -7.00 in my right, so the fact that I could already see pretty clearly right after surgery was incredible. Recovery has been easy. I did experience some blurriness/cloudiness and fluctuations in my vision for the first couple of days, but my vision gradually became more clear. At my one-week post-op exam, my vision was 20/25 in my left eye and 20/30 in my right which is better than what I thought would be possible. I now wake up in the morning and can immediately see and it feels like a miracle. It's now been two weeks since my procedure and I feel comfortable driving. I am absolutely thrilled by my corrected vision and am very pleased with the results! If you're on the fence about getting vision correction surgery, get it done at LaserVue!
