I have been trying to go on a walk every day. Most days, I just walk around his neighborhood. However, I was excited when I heard the parks reopened. I made a venture to Gahagan Park the first time almost on accident. I needed somewhere to go to get signal, as I don't get good phone service in Lincolnville. So I went to Gahagan Park for the phone signal, but after my virtual appointment, I decided to walk around this park. I found a track wrapping around a football field. I headed towards this because I assumed this would be the best place for walking. I passed a few baseball fields on my way. When I got to the track and started to walk around, I noticed that part of the track veers off. I followed this path to see where it lead. It went by some more baseball fields. It also lead to some public bathrooms and a picnic area. At the end of this walking trail, there is a graveyard. It is fenced in, and I couldn't get in. This is the point where I turn around, as the park ends and the walking path turns into a road. I like coming to Gahagan Park for my daily walks. I have a friend who plays ultimate frisbee here! This is a cool, fun, and relatively safe place to hang out. I definitely recommend checking it out!

If you really want to hear about it, I suppose they call it the Town of Mount Pleasant Dog Park,…read moreits on Rd. Ive heard it calledvRifle Range Dog Park when i lived there, or depending on which stupid sign you're looking at. And right off the bat, they've got all these official looking metal signs posted everywhere, therebis a lot of signs and i read them all, stain on me if i break a rule. They put up a big sign that says "SMALL DOGS" right on the fence, as if the small dogs give a damn about reading signs or care which side of the chain-link fence they're supposed to stand on. My big dogs love small dogs and hate big dogs, how peculiar is that? And then there's this ridiculous notice from the Mount Pleasant Waterworks that practically apologizes for existing. It literally tells you that the place is right next to a wastewater treatment plant, and that "at times, odors from this plant can be less than appealing," but "unfortunately, those odors cannot be eliminated." That killed me. I mean, at least they're honest about the smell, but it's just so depressing when people try to sound all polite and formal while telling you the whole place smells like sewage. They've got rules posted all over the place, too. Endless lists of stupid things you can and can't do, like everybody's going to read a giant essay on a fence before letting their hound run around. But the dogs don't care about any of it. There was this one collie just sitting out on the dirt trail in the woods, looking around like he was the only genuine thing in the whole damn state of South Carolina. Dogs are alright, mostly. They don't act fake or pretend to be something they're not, unlike the people who put up fifty rules and a giant sign warning you about bad smells. Anyway, if you like walking around in the woods near a water plant with a bunch of chain-link fences and warning signs everywhere, it's fine, I guess. It just depresses the hell out of me.

It features a small dog and large dog side hidden away under the trees. The place is nice and stays shaded during the hot sun, but it is in the woods somewhat so I might suggest bringing bug spray for mosquitos and gnats. This park is great for pups to run and plan, but be aware that it is not always populated, so you cannot guarantee that others will be there. I have always had pleasant experiences at this park, but I will say that I don't always feel the most comfortable going there alone as you have to walk a bit in some trees on a trail before finding the fenced in play area. Personally, I always bring someone with me when I go. DIRECTIONS: If this is your first time going, give yourself some time to find where it is! You have to turn off Rifle Range into the Waterworks facility. Then, follow the signs (to the right) all the way to the end of the road. Keep looking for the dog park signs (or a sign for Marsh View Trail, which passes through the dog park), and note that it is somewhat hard to find. You know you are there when you find a "dead end." Cars are generally parallel parked, if there are any there. On the right-hand side are trees (and you can see houses/a neighborhood through them) and on the left-hand side is a metal fence and stuff presumably for the waterworks. Once you park and start headed to the park, you will have to walk just a tad until you get there. (I took pics and posted in my Yelp review if it's helpful). Enjoy!
