Get the curry over the rice (and sausage)

Pretty fire. I had great service. Came at 3 so not a lot of other customers but all the food was good and fresh. I got it to go but would be a good place to hang out with friends. I'll get the oxtail next time. Jerk chicken was great but the oxtail is my reason to go back.

Caribbean Delight and Jamaican Grill large ox tail platters before digging.

I was craving ox tail so I decided to go to the Jamaican grill. Upon entry I noticed that the prices had changed. I ordered a large ox tail and when my order was ready I checked the container. Looking at it as if I was skimped some ox tail I asked if it was a large. The cashier told me the large comes with 6 tails. I counted and they were all there. Still feeling unsatisfied, I decided to buy another large ox tail from Caribbean Delight. Upon arrival through the door I said hello and asked how many ox tail come with their large. They lady told me standard is 5. I ordered the ox tail with cabbage and white rice and they asked me the amount of gravy of my choice. When I got home I took pictures, said my grace to the lord, and I ate them both at the same time until I felt I had eaten enough. I noticed how they were both delicious and not the same. Jamaican grill ox tail uses sugar and spice and almost had me hooked. Their cabbage is sweet and crisp with a hint of vinegar. Their rice and peas has a slight kick of spice. Their plantain is cooked good and is sweet. While eating Caribbean Delight I could not taste any spice or sugar in any of the dishes. However, it was made very tasty. The cabbage was well seasoned, the white rice is slightly buttery, and the ox tail is tender and flavorful. Their plantain has a caramelization going on and is very good. All in all, both platters were delicious. Take a look at the pictures from when I started and stopped. I think I dug in the same amount.

I really enjoyed the oxtails. The place could be in a better location. I will be back to try the jerk chicken.

We randomly discovered Taste of the Islands today, and WOW... what an absolute hidden gem! From the…read moresecond we walked in, it felt like we had been transported straight to the Caribbean on holiday. They had a live jazz brunch with an incredible band playing from 11-3 on Sunday, and the atmosphere was just perfect -- relaxing, vibrant, fun, and full of life. The entire place had this amazing family vibe where everyone was laughing, enjoying themselves, and making you feel completely welcome. Now let's talk about the FOOD... absolutely spectacular. My wife had the curry chicken, which was packed with authentic flavour and cooked perfectly. I had the snapper dish, and honestly, it was one of the best seafood meals I've had in a long time. We also tried the curry sauce with the beef and chicken patties... unbelievable! The menu is HUGE with so many authentic Caribbean options that you could literally come back for 3 weeks straight and order something different every day. But the best part of all was the hospitality. Not just our server, but multiple staff members came over to talk with us, recommend dishes, and genuinely made us feel like family. That kind of experience is rare these days. This wasn't just lunch -- it felt like one of those unforgettable local experiences you have while travelling abroad. Absolute brilliant experience. We will 100% be back again and again. Highly recommend Taste of the Islands to anyone looking for amazing Caribbean food, incredible hospitality, live music, and an atmosphere that makes you feel like you're on holiday.
