The food was great, the service was up to par for a to go order. We ordered a medium oxtail with rice, cabbage. The plantains aren't included but we ordered an additional side of them and a beef patty. The removal of one star was because the beef patty wasn't fresh. Other than that everything was really good. My husband enjoyed the chicken and vegetables soup of the day.

I did a takeout order tonight for oxtail, jerk chicken, and beef patties. Great portion sizes, awesome flavor, friendly folks, and fair prices... what more could I ask for? I have been meaning to check out Irie Jam Soul since I moved to the area and I regret not doing it sooner. Great choice and I will be back. J.Ja

This restaurant has a welcoming ambiance and very friendly service i was not the consumer of my meal but those who ate it said it tasted very good and had a healthy serving of rice i would come back and try something myself like the jerk chicken but i would've hoped they put more oxtails on the plate for the amount of rice that was given but still a good place to check out

You have to come to Taste and See to fully understand just how delicious The Grit Counter is!…read more Our server, Tiffany, was amazing and helped us navigate the menu and choose bowls that were perfect for us. Who would have thought to use red rice seasoning to create an authentic Charleston-inspired grit bowl? The seasoned collard greens and fried chicken made it absolutely incredible. I ordered the French Onion Bowl, and it was absolutely delicious! The bacon Parmesan grits were a meal within themselves, but pairing them with the French onion sauce, mushrooms, and grilled chicken took it to another level. And the garlic croutons on top? Chef's kiss! Thank you, Tiffany, and all the servers who took such great care of us. Everything was delicious, and the service was wonderful. We will definitely be back!

I wanted something for the 5 adults and a two year old that would be good before flaying home. When we parked, I was a tad concerned about time as there was a line of 8-10 people waiting to order. I saw a table opening up, so went there so we would have some place to sit. Since this was our first time, a lot to decide. Bowl, or plate. There were so many options. We opted for a few dirty birds. The biscuits with chicken and gravy and sides were fried green tomatoes and fries. We also had an order of pimento cheese hush puppies. Unfortunately, the order for crispy onions came out as grilled onions. They were ok, but disappointing as it wasn't what was ordered. We were also charged for an extra coffee which we didn't order. The fast pace of the order kept the line moving, which has the risk of getting things wrong. Everyone hustles. There was a line for the restrooms. They were next to the beverage dispensers. It made for a cramped area. The food on the upside was delicious! The fried green tomatoes were greasy for my taste, but the chicken was tender and nicely fired. Not greasy. The gravy on the dirty bird was good, but needed more flavor. The biscuits were flaky and yum. Definitely a good find before a flight. We had plenty of time!! One exit away! Great find for breakfast before a flight out of CHS.

Absolutely love love love this restaurant. Great food, great atmosphere, fun location…read more Parking can get tough during busy times but that's pretty typical for any great place. We have gone during their Paella Sunday & Oyster Roast events and spent beautiful late afternoons outside with friends. They offer a great variety of wine to pair with the food. We got to experience a few different wine tastings. These might have moved offside with their second location but were fun and educational. Thursday Burrito special is a great way to explore their different offering. And almost always there is enough for.the next day.

We made a reservation, but ordered at the counter. We ordered a handful of dishes to share. The girl was very helpful and giving us a separate gluten-free menu that allowed us to order for my husband. This place is a Latin/Asian infusion so we were very excited to see how the flavors played out since it is two of our favorite types of food. The best thing I had was the special, stir fried udon noodles with the steak. The noodles were perfectly cooked, the chili spice on it was amazing and it wasn't overly sauced. The steak that accompanied it was also delicious. The tomato cucumber salad was fresh, but could've used a little more salt in my opinion. The bao bun and tacos were also nice and great portions. I would say for me I didn't love the pad Thai in comparison to the many that I've had before, because it was a bit different in flavor profiles than what I'm used to. I wanted a little bit more of the fish sauce and tamarin flavor. You have to get their milkshakes, I'm sure all of them are great. But the one we have was absolutely decadent and delicious! We had more than enough food, and ended up taking a lot of it home. They were multiple people helping us, and they were all very nice and friendly. I'm coming back for the udon noodle dish!

I tried the chicken ciabatta sandwich. I loved the bacon, Brie, and apple combo on it! It was very flavorful. My husband really liked his scallop risotto! We decided to give it a try, and I am SO glad we did. We had had a rough meal the day before, and I really didn't want to leave Charleston on a bad note. When we first walked in, I have to admit I was a little apprehensive seeing the menu written on a chalkboard on the wall. But then Heidi came over to us...Heidi is the reason we stayed, and the reason this ended up being one of the highlights of our trip. We had been considering the chicken ciabatta sandwich and the pork chop, so we asked Heidi what she thought we should get. She said that if she could only order two items off the menu, she would get the chicken ciabatta sandwich and the pork chop -- without knowing that those were the two items we had been considering! She also recommended the fried green tomatoes. All I can say is WOW. Everything we ordered was outstanding. Absolutely delicious. But what really made the experience special was Heidi herself. She was kind, caring, attentive, and genuinely invested in making sure we had a wonderful meal. She was so understanding when I told her about our not-so-great experience the day before and completely reassured us that we were in the right place. And she was right! Heidi even went so far as to look up the brand of pimento cheese we loved on the fried green tomatoes and had me take a picture of it from her phone. That little extra touch said so much about the kind of person she is and the level of care she puts into her guests. Betty Lou's Bistro was exactly what we needed to turn our Charleston experience around before heading to the airport. The food was fantastic, but the hospitality was what made it unforgettable. I would highly, highly recommend Betty Lou's Bistro. And if you're lucky enough to have Heidi take care of you, tell her we found the pimento cheese up north -- and we already bought it! Thank you, Heidi and Betty Lou's Bistro, for ending our Charleston trip on such a wonderful note!

We didn't necessarily come in chasing the local-favorite pistachio pesto pizza, but unfortunately for our future cravings, there is a reason people talk about it. That pizza was ridiculous in the best way. The crust, which is AMAZING, had those blistered, chewy edges that make you immediately respect the dough, and the pistachio pesto was rich, nutty, and glossy without turning the whole thing into a heavy cheese situation. Every slice felt like it had a little extra personality. We sat where we could see the pizza being made, which is both charming and mildly torturous when you're hungry. Dough, toppings, oven, waiting. A tiny drama in four acts. The wood-fired oven was doing the kind of work that made me wonder why we waited years to show up. The place itself feels like a real neighborhood pizza spot: worn wood tables, red and golden walls, local art, chalkboard beer list, and enough character that even the bathroom wanted to be part of the review. I'm honestly sad we waited this long. EVO has clearly been over here doing its thing, and we were just late to the party.
