They didn't have rice and peas when I went and the Mac and cheese wasn't the best(could be cheesier). But the food was seasoned well and I enjoyed eating it! I feel like the price was reasonable for what I got. I thought it was a buffet because of the name but they charge you by the pound. So my plate came up to about $12-15. I've lived in Far Rockaway for 14 years and I was really excited when Jamaica Breeze came to the area ( I always travel to the other Jamaica Breeze on Merrick to buy food for my family of five). I believe the owner runs a kids soccer program which I enjoyed when my son attended. However, My feelings are changing about coming to Jamaica Breeze anymore because the offerings are inconsistent and the staff always seems to be disgruntled, sour faced, and it's just not the best experience supporting a business and giving your money that you've worked so hard for when there's no real customer service or appreciation. If you don't care about stuff standards like that then this place is fine for you. At the buffet, you can pick what you want and pay the price that's posted versus Golden Krust where they will stuff you with a whole bunch of rice and two pieces of meat. The food at JB is ok especially since the area doesn't have much West Indian choices-however, overall It won't kill the staff to be a LITTLE more friendly to their customers who provide the jobs that they have. For instance, something as simple as "good morning" with a smile cost nothing. I enjoyed the food here. I was in the area for work and I did not want fast food. The restaurant is clean and the buffet was not messy and the food looked good. There is a hand sanitizer dispenser at the front. I kept it simple with 2 jerk chicken thighs, peas and rice and a small spoonful of oxtail. I like the layout of the restaurant and how sanitary they keep the place. My only complaint is that they serve only two parts of the chicken thighs and legs. No red snapper in months unless you ask. The whitings are not fresh. The best thing is the pepper shrimp and carrot juice once they prepare it properly . They could put less salt on the food but this acts as a preservative. read more
