The Magic Duel is just that...two Magicians competing to win the title of best of the night. You…read moredo actually vote on your phone at intermission. Mark Phillips and Ryan Phillips were both terrific. The one we voted for did indeed win, but they were both great! The Saturday we were there, there were two performances. We chose the 5pm one. It's a fast-paced show that kept us laughing, intrigued and highly entertained. A very fun, wonderful way to spend entertainment dollars in DC. Not a bad seat in the house! This is downstairs in the historic Mayflower Hotel, nice and close to the Farragut North Metro Stop. Definitely appropriate for all ages. Highly recommend!

I recognize that the Magic Duel takes huge pride in 5 star reviews on Yelp, which I deeply respect. But I did wish that we had seen the show in a different venue. I am no stage expert, but lights and sound do matter a lot in delivery of a magic show for a skeptic like me, going because the significant other loves magic shows. With better lighting, things would have been more "magical" (thinking bottles.) I was also surprised that a bubble artist, as good as she was in her profession, was considered a magician. After some quick research, you will end up at Magic Duel in this genre, so please go to Dupont or Georgetown.

A hidden-jewel of the music scene in northern Virginia, Stone Room Concerts showcases small acts…read more--of big quality and sublime sound-- in various venues set up for intimate performances. These venues include church halls, basements of people's homes, lobbies of Arlington condos, a Falls Church bike store, and other community recreational space. Audiences are offered an unmatched experience of getting up close with top talent artists drawn from the nation's premier musical centers (Nashville, New York City, Austin, Athens, etc.). Artists perform acoustic style sets (bigger sets with multiple band players are also offered) to audiences who seek genuine music beyond the teflon machine-generated radio pop, and love to support independent musicians. These artists are tall on talent yet short on big name music industry commercial fame. Offering exquisite, heart-felt music and passion, their performances make for stirring musical soirees. Many of the acts are from the folk/bluegrass field, who have jazz and pop influences, extending sometimes to motown and gospel. Audiences can buy tickets online, via the Web site (stoneroomconcerts.com) but can also walk in to the venue on the performance night and are encouraged to donate to the artist. The host of the venue typically provides snacks and drinks for attendees. This non-profit is run with a lot of heart by David H. who does an impeccable job curating the numerous acts he brings to northern Virginia throughout the year. I highly encourage all music afficionados to attend one of these "house concerts" for the true feeling of shared musical spirit just as it has always been in history, through pure voice and unfiltered performance in a small gathering.

In 2013, we began booking shows approximately once a month on Sunday nights at Bikenetic, a bicycle shop in Falls Church. As of July 31, 2014, Stone Room Concerts was incorporated in the Commonwealth of Virginia, and has received 501(c)3 nonprofit status with the IRS, also effective as of that date. Additionally, Stone Room Concerts includes as part of its mission support for charitable causes, including acting as a fiscal sponsor for the Niñas Arriba! college scholarship fund for young women in El Salvador.

We were so lucky he agreed to drive well outside of his usual area to perform. His illusions were mesmerizing, and he expertly handled a room full of inquisitive and skeptical kids by getting most of them involved in his performance. He gave a great message in the end of the performance also, drawing on the themes of inclusion and acceptance from the Harry Potter stories, which the adults present also mentioned as being a highlight. We cannot say enough great things about his professionalism and performance and we would highly recommend him for any event!

Vick had a wonderful story line and great tricks that kept everyone's attention! We had some guests that are very skeptical of magic tricks, and he still blew them away! I'm so happy we had him! We ended up starting his show a little late, unfortunately, but he was incredibly patient, set-up, and mingled with a few guests while he waited! He then put on a 45-50 minute show for all of us, and included some guests, my father, and us in the show! I highly recommend him for ANY event -- weddings, birthdays (children AND adult), social events, etc. Thanks, Vick!

Oops, can't believe I haven't written a review! I've been here when it first opened back in 2022…read moreand a few times since then. I love the location. It's easy to get to and appreciate that parking is simple via the attached garage (albeit the garage is interesting and could be the scene of a horror film). There are ample food options as well since this place is nestled in Ballston with the outdoor area on Wilson crawling with restaurants. If you need something quick, fast casual spots and fast food in general are offered in the food court inside of the mall. Now for the actual game review. It's best to book in advance online. Things are super easy and much faster; you also do not have to pick a game right away. So far I've played the Floor is Lava, a more family oriented one with my nephew, and most recently Squid Games with my nieces. Note that the latter is better suited for older kids. My youngest niece who is 5 had a couple of issues maneuvering her avatar during Squid Games. Of the three I played, Squid Games has been my favorite, naturally. Youngest niece kept dying every time she stepped foot. I was telling her to go left go left and she screamed back at me that she hadn't learned left or right yet, then proceeded to get picked off. Game aside, please note you are welcome to purchase drinks from the room. If you are playing a game that's more than 30 mins, note you will need water. There is a lot of moving around. Also note, sadly the water is Dasani so prepare to have your tastebuds assaulted.

I went with my niece and was genuinely surprised by how much fun we had! The games were interactive, challenging, and a total blast. We laughed a lot, got competitive, and I'm pretty sure people in the other rooms (or "boxes") could hear us having a great time. I'm really glad we gave it a try, and I'd definitely go back. If you have kids or are looking for a unique family outing, I'd say the passes are well worth it. One quick tip: Know exactly where you're going before you arrive. I didn't realize the location is on the outside of the mall, which wasn't a big issue for me, but it could be frustrating if you're tight on time. The confirmation emails do a solid job providing directions--if you're driving and parking. But if you're getting dropped off (like I was via Uber), the signage and location can be a little tricky to spot. A minor hiccup, but something to be aware of.
