How is this possible? For my last night in England, I was going to have bangers 'n mash so onto Yelp I came to find the next closest pub. We ended up coming to the Pelton Arms and I was heartbroken to find that they didn't have it on their menu either. What the %#$@? The waitress quickly checked with the chef and thankfully, since he had all the ingredients, he was willing to prepare the dish for me! I'm so grateful that she took the initiative because those were some of the best bangers I've had. They were served over a wonderful green onion mash and topped with the typical grilled onion chutney. Absolutely fantastic and they definitely hit the spot! My husband opted for the special of the day, Chilli Con Carne which was incredibly spicy but I always love to see a grown man cry. It wasn't a crazy heat but a wonderful, flavourful warmth with a kick that hit you a little later on... almost as if it was an afterthought. If you're ever in the Greenwich area, I would recommend checking this place out. I'm glad we found our way here and a special thanks to our waitress and the chef!

Truly, if it wasn't for the Space I think I would have slowly died of boredom living here! A centre for performing arts including music, comedy, theatre, dance and film they have a really innovative calendar of events. I've been to see some experimental (and quite frankly surreal) performances that have been real eye openers and definitely something to be discussed long into the night. Whilst the last thing I saw was a Classical Music Recital that included an all girl barbershop quartet, a Tango-cabaret (including songs of Marlene Dietrich) and a piano Beethoven trio! This is what I love about the Space, they're not afraid to mix things up a little bit and offer some exciting and very original acts. Also, if you live close by they offer a few of the performances for free. We received a "For being our neighbor..." letter through our door inviting us to a Christmas anti-panto and a comedy night, both absolutely free. It's their friendly neighborhood attitude, trying to survive in an area of suited and booted city types, that I love the most. The cool Hububb bar and restaurant is upstairs too and if you are coming here don't leave without popping in after a performance. Open until 12am most days, it's a great place to wax lyrical over whatever you've just had the pleasure of seeing. Keep up the good work Space!

A Cameroonian place in London... Home away from home, couldn't be happier!…read more The Maestro has everything I miss from home, and is the perfect place to go with my Cameroonian pals when we need our big dose of home food. Everything: from Ndole to plantain fries, Chicken DG to Pepper soup (not for me though, intolerant to chili), there's everything to make us happy. It's African food, so please be patient. It takes time and you'd better not be starving when you go there. African nights tend to be quite long and boozy! :) Service wise, here again it's the perfume of Cameroon. That warmth and family touch has no equal. I know I am being subjective and some expressions may be "unwelcoming" to non-Cameroonians, and I get that. But still, this is home. With its good and bad sides, and that's why we like it. The waiter who greets you with no smile, then brings you first drink with a quarter of a smile, then the second with half a smile, then your starter, and finally a full smile when you eat the main... When it's time to hit the desert, you're so full and happy that you talk to her like your sister. Sounds strange, doesn't it? But again, that's home! They regularly have live bands playing weekends. The Maestro becomes quite literally the first stop of the night: whiskey from 6 to 9, then dinner until 11, then whiskey again until 1-2 ish before hitting an African club in Peckham or Camberwell... The Maestro has it all and just gets it. If you want a Europeanised restaurant with African food, turn around and go somewhere else... But If you want to experience a bit of Cameroon with no filter whatsoever, exactly the way it happens in some streets of Douala or Yaounde, then you are at the right place!

I reserved an area for 40 people for the boyfriends birthday and couldn't have been happier with how the evening went. They reserved us a huge area which spanned both inside and outside the mismatch building. The first thing you notice is obviously the big red bus that you can actually dine upon. The next it's quirky greenhouse-esq. interior and then you can head out into their back garden area that has tables, a raised greenhouse area and plenty of available seating. They have a cocktail happy hour from 5 till 8 where cocktails are just £5 and they're pretty damn strong cocktails! And they also serve some fantastic street food. I opted for the wunderburger and it was god damn wunderful! Perfectly cooked juicy patty, topped with cheese, bacon and all the trimmings. Just wunderful! The only negative I have is that once they started getting busier the wait for drinks was rather extensive due to all the cocktail making so I'd just recommend a few more staff on those busy nights. Other than that I had the perfect evening and my boyfriend enjoyed his birthday immensely. Fantastic venue and another Deptford hidden gem!

It was about the social groups and charity groups in and around the Lewisham area and how us the community can help! There was also live music from artists in and around Lewisham and they all had a similar message and that was that we as a community, are all one and that we should work together to keep the area we live in a happy place. This was a good event and they should have more of these events around london. I didnt stay long (about an hour and a half) as i had work the next day but i would have stayed much longer! The venue itself, Wunderlust is quite a quirky place it has a huge red bus situated at the entrance and sells german hotdogs (hence the name!) Its decorated pretty with fairy lights and is like a little hidden den as it has like pathways which lead to different rooms and areas.. would recommend checking it out of your in the area..

A weird looking, small (used to be smokey) dingy looking club but as soon as the lights come on and the compare begins it is like being transported to funny land. If you go here you must sit on the front row to be included in the comedy. There is nothing better than having the mick taken out of you with a few drinks and on a budget of £20! The one suggestion I would make is to get there early to get a good seat. They serve Thai food upstairs and you can either sit up there and watch the comedy on a screen or eat it off your lap! However, I would not suggest eating whilst the comedians are on! You will either choke with laughter or they will seriously abuse you! I have never found anything, EVER in the world as good value for money as this! Get yourself down! NOW! Or you will def. be missing out.

As with any comedy club, whether or not you'll enjoy the show will be extremely subjective, but I've never had a bad experience at Up The Creek!
