We went to buy chicharon here and it's very unsanitary. They don't follow cross contamination protocols. They use the same gloves that they use with the raw meat to touch the cook chicharon. The plastic was disgusting. I needed to go back im and ask them to replace it and use a clean gloves. Then when we are home we tried eating it and the taste is really bad it taste like been bad for months it's no longer edible. We went ahead and drive back to the market and return it. read more

Best Mexican Super in the entire city of Bastrop! But did you know they have great breakfast tacos? And they're generous with the portions. Look at the amount of bacon I discovered when I got home, took my taco out of the foil and plated it :-) I order my tacos there without cheese, because the cheese they use tastes too much like Velvita to me. But they otherwise do a great job. I love their migas and they always have several fresh salsas to choose from. They also have Pupusas with Curtido! If you don't know what that is, you're missing out! It's the best and most iconic of all El Salvadoran dishes, and it's got a flavor profile that should be loved by anyone who likes Mexican food. Of course, it's not just a restaurant. It's a grocery store. They have meat and fresh produce and narrow but well-stocked aisles. The prices are good. The staff is friendly, and they speak English as well as Spanish. And being there is a bit like stepping into Old Mexico. So swing in by. They're over by Chapala. read more

Fair friendly greeting, yet food leaves more to be desired. Customers frustrated that nothing is labeled and so many things are so marinated you cannot really tell what they are. One cashier can get overwhelmed by having to cash out and come back to identify the food. Caldo de Res is good, yet the carnitas were a bit undercooked. Bistec is dry and underseasoned. We decided to stop in here after seeing it next to the Bucc-ee's. The parking lot is a bit small so, I'm sure, on a busy day, it might be hard to park. The restaurant was closed so we could not eat there but the little mercado was open so we decided to stop inside and see what was there. It's a small market with a lot of different items like spices, desserts, meats and more. I was mainly interested in the dessert area but it had been picked clean when we arrived. The staff was already refilling it but not the cheesecake that looked like something I'd have. I didn't end up getting any flan or rice pudding because it was in the taller cups and didn't seem appealing. It's a nice market that might be worth a look if you're in the area. Maybe the restaurant will be open next time. read more

I go here to get some meats I can't get at HEB. Unfortunately the preseason meats are old. This is the second time I got it and it smelled almost spoiled. Don't get seasoned meat it's old and covering the old smell. They other stuff is good. The produce is way over priced and not in best condition. My kids like the selection of bakery items. I'll keep coming but hope they don't keep selling almost spoiled meat. I got a pound of nepales salsa and it was 100% spoiled. Slimy and turning white with bacteria. I won't get it again. The taqueria has been consistently a let down. Order is almost always wrong , even though I only order max 3 tacos at a time. Didn't want to write a negative review , but this gross 1000% total fat barbacoa taco is basically it for me. Go here religiously for breakfast tacos and meat. Well lol still get meat here but the continually degrading service will start to steer me away from the breakfast tacos. Used to be the best breakfast, 4.4 years running for us but the last 2 times my order was wrong. Great prices on meat but getting to go orders for breakfast tacos and burritos saddens me. This morning I got a "breakfast burrito" that was half the size my wife's combo taco, and a third of the size of the usual burrito I get. So still gets my business for meats but may have to stop getting breakfasts. And my fav girl has Been missing, so may be a language barrier since she was the only one I've had that understands me.
