Thank you Edmond for a memorable 4th of July. The fireworks show was amazing, and it was 30minutes…read morelong! Prior to the fireworks show, there were food and drink vendors, activities for kids, and free watermelon at the UCO campus. Don't forget to check the libertyfest website for times and details. We ate dinner before going, and I'm glad we did because I only saw a few vendors: 2 food, 1 ice cream, 1 snow cone. The free watermelon was cool and sweet, perfect on a hot night. There were so many people at the UCO campus at 8:30pm that we decide to leave, re-park outside the campus, and watch the fireworks show from a distance to avoid getting stuck in traffic. The view from across the street was still beautiful. Someone had their radio tuned to the local station so we could hear the music synchronized to the fireworks. The station was mentioned on the libertyfest website so don't forget to check. Don't forget to bring your lawn chairs or a blanket.

They even used the diving board a few times. They thoroughly enjoyed it. The downside of our visit was the three young adult girls wearing g-strings and walking around small children. My youngest was horrified that he could see their "tushies". There's a place for such things but it's not in a children's area. It's indecent and I was surprised they were allowed in. I mean.... you have to wear shoes to enter other establishments... you should have to wear some kind of bum covering in the presence of children. IMO.

This is the 3rd year my children have taken swimming lessons…read more This time their instructor has been odd. My daughter is 9 and tall for her age. The instructor threw an object out for the kids to dive and retrieve. My daughter cannot swim yet and is building her confidence. When she threw out my daughter's object, my daughter tried but couldn't get it. She said the water was right up to her chin and needed help. The instructor wouldn't help her, although she had helped all the other children with this task. My daughter tried to move the object with her foot to get it into a little shallower water and was reprimanded. In the end she didn't pass the skill. When she came back to the parent area she was in tears. I did not confront the instructor. I mean, she is about 16 years old. We had an issue like this the 1st year when the instructor lacked patience. That year we left after the 1st day and didn't return. I have emailed the Station before but never get any response back. If your child is not already confident in the water, then lessons her might not be appropriate for your child.

The restaurants were really busy which is good. They have the canal drained. First time I've ever seen tht. The place was pretty lit up and you could hear music and people enjoying. Very large police presence on the Main Street going thru but I imagine tht s fir traffic control after the concert. This is the entertainment and sports District of DOwntown OKC. You will find many bars, pubs, and…read moreresturants in this area. Some popular restaurants include Revolution Pizza, Bucktown Brewery, Rendezvous Pizza, and Mickey Mantle Steakhouse. There is metered street parking available throughout the District. Some restaurants have their own private lots and the District is serviced by public transportation, including a train. The District has a bunch of hotels, bars, restaurants, and a baseball field, Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark, home of the Oklahoma City Comets, the Triple-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers. There is also a movie theater there as well. Most of the District of covered by metered street parking and commercial parking lots, but they are both rather reasonably priced. Paycom Center and the Oklahoma City Memorial are just outside of the District. One issue I had with the District was the motorcycles racing u and down the street late at night, they were very loud and kept me up. This area has a storied history and definitely promotes public art. There are some very fascinating murals and sculptures there. You can catch the Water taxis, which provides guests with a guided tour of the city. I was there during the week (Monday-Thursday) and there was not a lot of people roaming the District. I still enjoyed my time there and it was pretty fun. You are surely to end up here if you are visiting OKC. It is a must visit.
