Bricktown was my first stop of the day! I came here around 10 am to catch the water taxi so it wouldn't get too hot later on in the day. It was quiet and very clean. The canal was gorgeous and it was nice to be able to walk along it and see all the paintings and murals on the walls. Parking was super easy too.

December by the Canal

We spent a good deal of our OKC stop in Bricktown, specifically along the canal walk. In December the trees along the canal are wrapped in holiday lights. Minigolf is still open and the canal taxi (narrated tour) still running. Many of the restaurants along the upper canal are open, while others seem closed for the season. We also stopped in to a few businesses (pizza, brewery, restaurant, lounge, bar) outside of the canal area. The Banjo museum and an art gallery are also here. I didn't see any pharmacies (walgreens, etc.) or convenience stores. Also, missed a nice little coffee cafè. This is a good location for restaurants and bars. An area where you can easily walk to a number of businesses. Parking is available in the Canal parking lot, on-street paid spots or a nearby garage.

Bricktown is an area with the historical district with a lot of brick buildings. This Bricktown has a lot of attractions surrounding the area. This town also has a lot of restaurants. The attraction includes the American Banjo Museum, Bricktown Brewery, Brickopolis, Lower Bricktown Mall, Ballpark. Those are the area you can visit. The town also has a canal that you can take a ride on the canal towards the centennial land run. This is a place with a lot of cowboy bronze statues. The river cruise can be get at the Bricktown. Parking on the street side or lot is available. The entire visit only takes 2 hours by foot.

I was in OKC visiting some family, and everyone told me Bricktown was the place to be in the city!! So, there's plenty to do in this area. Lots of bars, restaurants, a movie theater, the Oklahoma Sports Hall Of Fame, a ball park, the Bricktown Canal, and also the Paycom Center, which is home to the Oklahoma City Thunder NBA basketball team!! If you like to eat and drink, this is the place to be!! I'm neither, so I was more just taking in the sights. I was here during the day, so it was kind of slow, but next time I would like to come in the evening to see how it really is!!

My family and I were staying at a hotel in Bricktown, Oklahoma City, during our visit in the holiday season. Our hotel, the Hilton Hampton Inn, was located right next to Brickopolis and the ballfield! When checking into the hotel, the team members provided us with a map of Bricktown and all the fun activities we could explore in Bricktown! Come to find out, after our journey on the Bricktown Water Taxi, Bricktown was recently renovated and had a significant revitalization to become one of the city's premier entertainment destinations! Bricktown has a mix of entertainment, dining, and attractions. When we checked in on a Saturday night, the restaurants in Bricktown were packed, and the nightclubs were open! Talking with a local, Bricktown does get relatively busy on Friday and Saturday nights only. Bricktown has a beautiful canal, a waterway lined with brick-paved sidewalks, bridges, and charming architecture. While visiting Bricktown, you can take their water taxi for a tour. I have been to San Antonio, Texas, stayed at the Riverwalk, and come to find out, the water taxi in Bricktown OKC is the exact same as the one in San Antonio! As you tour the canal, you will see a variety of restaurants, cafes, shops, and even some historical monuments! Another feature of Bricktown is the Chesapeake Energy Arena. This Arena hosts sporting events, concerts, and other live performances. It is also the home of NBA's Oklahoma City Thunder! All of Bricktown has a historic charm, with the red-brick buildings. Some of them have been repurposed as offices, apartments, and even remodeled restaurants! My family and I enjoyed walking around Bricktown. It was quiet from Sunday through Wednesday, during our stay. We ate at a few restaurants in Bricktown, such as the Old Spaghetti factory and Brickopolis. We also rode on the water taxi! There were not too many people visiting Bricktown a few weeks before New Years. We had fun, though, and would totally visit again!

This review is on Bricktown Riverwalk canal area.. The actual Bricktown area has lots to offer. Many nice eating places, ballpark, bars, movie theater, event center, shopping. Now the riverwalk....terrible, just terrible. I can't understand the riverboat still going. For a Tuesday afternoon and the boat was full. Most areas along west river are not even occupied. A handful of eating places. None being too exciting. They were planting flowers at The best end by Toby Keith's (Love it) and Charlestons. That area to the movie theater is nice. Amusement center is nice but West after that it is just sad. So many buildings just empty and outsides run down. I took one pic of a restaurant seating at the edge of water. Really at edge!. No ,don't think I want to set there. City should do something to renew and give incentives to open places. Has changed alot in the last few years.

Super cute and lively place for all ages including young adults. Had tacos and a drink.

Just like San Antonio...Bricktown has the riverboats as well.

Bricktown is the quaint historic district of downtown Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. I just happened to discover it in a brochure when I pulled over at a Visitors Welcome Center when crossing the Oklahoma/Texas border. Bricktown has a very touristy feel to it (which I appreciated) and resembles the Riverwalk area of San Antonio, Texas. You have the charming little river running straight through the center of the quarter with restaurants, bars and pubs situated off to each side. If you're interested in coming here and having a pleasant meal outside, they offer plenty of seating with tables and chairs, especially during evening times with lights illuminating the pedestrian walking pathway. This Bricktown Historic District is not even 1 mile long...maybe 1/2 a mile at the most. So, although it's not nearly as long as the San Antonio Riverwalk, still it resembles it as sort of a miniature version. You can even take one of those vintage riverboat rides that leads you down the waters. Also here in downtown OKC (exactly across the street) is Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark, home of the LA Dodgers Minor league Baseball Franchise. I actually went to a game back over the summertime on a beautifully sunny Sunday afternoon. It was fun. And...a little further away from this Bricktown District is the Paycom Center, home of the NBA's Oklahoma City Thunder. Overall, I believe visiting Oklahoma City is worthwhile for a nice weekend getaway, and if you do visit this under the radar city in the heart of the Middle of America, then you should stop and spend some time here at Bricktown, at the very least casually walking the pathway doing some window shopping, browsing and people watching. Btw, I also suggest for good photo opportunities, walk and stand on top of any of the bridges for scenic overlook views of the entire district. Alright, this is the Bricktown Historic Quarter of downtown Oklahoma City!

Nice area to spend time with families. We didn't take much pictures of the area. ..........

Hubby and I decided to visit since the photos of this area reminded us of San Antonio's Riverwalk. A few notes from a tourist perspective: - All parking in the Bricktown area, including street parking, is paid parking. We found lots ranging from $5 to $10. - All business along the water canal are either bars or restaurants. There is no shopping or stores to browse. - The walk along the canal is nice with lots of cross over bridges. A lap around the canal is about one mile. Since neither Hubby nor I are drinkers and the weather was very hot with no shopping areas to duck into, we left after a lap around the canal that took less than an hour to visit. Great area to gather with friends for drinks or have a meal, but not much else to do.

This is a really nice urban entertainment center in the heart of OKC. I don't know how much tourist attraction value it has as someone who was just visiting, but it definitely has value to a local resident looking for something to do. On the far east side is the ballpark where the OKC Dodgers (formerly Red Hawks) play. On the far west side is the arena where the OKC Thunder play. Along the south side is a massive movie theater. Lining the northern side are restaurants, bars, and stores, with hotels dotting the perimeters. in the middle is the Oklahoma River with water taxis available to take you on roughly hour-long tours, weather permitting. My wife and I swung by the area and had dinner at local restaurants both times. We highly recommend coming here.

Brick city, you heard of that

This area was thought up by Brick Astley and Brick James, Britch. Bricktown is a lovely District reclaimed from the industrial era old Oklahoma City. It looks a little bit more like the Great Lakes and the Northeast than it does the Midwest. It's surrounded by train tracks and has some pretty cool hipster businesses and brewpubs opening up in the area.

I mean I guess it's something to do if you're near downtown OKC, but I wouldn't come back here. Chain restaurants, no shopping. Blah.
