This pedestrian bridge is really look like break dancing with two leg on the sky. Someone also said is like the scissor open in the sky. This bridge extends it member to sky and hence call sky dance. At the nighttime, the light came out and you spot them very far away. The blue light has good aesthetic and good for pictures. It is great to visit at night. It connect two parks between the highway. It is great to see this at the fence area. There are a lot of love locks on the fence.

Entering Oklahoma City from the west, this bridge so caught my eye that I had to get off the highway and circle around to get a closer look. It is absolutely stunning. Back in 2002, some federal Department of Transportation funding had a requirement that the city build a pedestrian bridge over Interstate 40. It took some time but in 2008, the mayor set out a design competition for the bridge and architects Hans and Torrey Butzer conceived of the bridge as being inspired by the Scissortail Flycatcher, Oklahoma's state bird. The city allocated a budget of $6.8 million. The cost was originally estimated to be around $5.2 million, but unexpected problems pushed the estimate to $12.8 million The sculpture was completed in 2011 and the bridge itself was finished in 2012, opening on April 23, 2012. It was later awarded one of the 50 best public art projects in the United States. No legal parking nearby, I found something mostly legal and was able to trot over to the bridge for photos. It's absolutely stunning. [Review 16211 overall - 52 in Oklahoma - 1717 of 2021.]

This humongous metal sculpture is visible while driving on the I-40 passing by downtown Oklahoma City. As a first time passerby, I wondered what on earth it was! First time we drove by it, I had to know what it was! Yelp told me it was Skydance Bridge, but I wondered what it had to do with the sculpture? So, I looked it up. It has to do with the "Sky Dance" of the Scissor-tail Flycatcher. This sculpture is a Scissor-tailed Flycatcher, which is the Oklahoma State Bird. It is made out of stainless steel. It spans the bridge which opened on April 23, 2012. You can walk across the 380 ft bridge. We came to do that one evening when it was getting dark and saw some rather unseemly people nearby, so we skipped it and left. Within the next day or two, we went back during the day and I walked up to the bird and got a good close-up view. It does look cool seeing the steel pieces attached, forming the sculpture. I was standing on the bridge when my daughter was driving on her way home from work. I said we had been there and she said she saw me! How funny!! This is much prettier to view at night (from the safety of your car)! There are lots of LED lights that change colors. It rotates colors fairly quickly. I was able to catch just the blue to green colors. This bird is lit from dusk to dawn daily. I still think it is a pretty abstract rendering of the bird. With that said, this is listed as one of the 50 Top Public Art Projects in the Nation. For 5+ Million dollars, it should be a note-worthy piece of art!

This bridge ties in with Scissortail park. We tried exploring it but, it was closed. We heard that April 27 they were lighting it purple for the month of the military child. My husband and two kiddos loaded up and headed that way to see it. Of course there was a lot parking available, thank you covid 19 for that. We walked up and already it was a beautiful sight. The area was very clean! Very. We felt safe as well. I highly recommend visiting this area and explore. It is perfect for a nightly walk.

This bridge is definitely beautiful at night, when all the lights come on and change colors. But I do agree, there is trash littered on there and it does get annoying when you're doing a photo shoot or simply sitting on a bench that is stuffed with trash underneath. But, this bridge is a great destination to view downtown Oklahoma City from afar and take photos during sunset or at night. Truly made a great backdrop and enhanced my photos drastically.

Skydance Bridge can easily be seen when driving on I-40, and during the day this is how I first came across the bridge. From far away I was confused to what this was ... was it a crane? why is it shaped like a giant jack, you know, from the child game with a ball and jacks? I was confused and when we got near the bride I saw it was some type of landmark. Passed by the bridge again at night and saw it beautifully lighted. The lighting changes colors every few seconds. Had I originally known that this was a pedestrian bridge I would have loved to stop by and taken pictures. If you're visiting Oklahoma, stop by at night or drive by, it is very beautiful.

Some popular restaurants include Revolution Pizza, Bucktown Brewery, Rendezvous Pizza, and Mickey Mantle Steakhouse. There is metered street parking available throughout the District. Some restaurants have their own private lots and the District is serviced by public transportation, including a train. The District has a bunch of hotels, bars, restaurants, and a baseball field, Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark, home of the Oklahoma City Comets, the Triple-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers. There is also a movie theater there as well. Most of the District of covered by metered street parking and commercial parking lots, but they are both rather reasonably priced. Paycom Center and the Oklahoma City Memorial are just outside of the District. One issue I had with the District was the motorcycles racing u and down the street late at night, they were very loud and kept me up. This area has a storied history and definitely promotes public art. There are some very fascinating murals and sculptures there. You can catch the Water taxis, which provides guests with a guided tour of the city. I was there during the week (Monday-Thursday) and there was not a lot of people roaming the District. I still enjoyed my time there and it was pretty fun. You are surely to end up here if you are visiting OKC. It is a must visit.

It was commissioned by the City of Oklahoma city depicts a bronze man coming out of the ground to about chest high. The man is holding a big cement ball in both hands like a basketball and pushing the ball up two steel rails. Health care consultant Curtis Thomas served as a model for the piece, which is meant to pay homage to the struggles of those original residents of the "Deep Deuce" neighborhood, a thriving African American community, as well as the historic structures themselves; the railroads, loading docks, and post & beam construction of the warehouses. It also rumored to represent civil rights struggles. The piece has been criticized for being too urban. I however, really like the sculpture. It is very detailed. It is almost life-like even though it is a bit larger than scale. It really grabs your attention, even though it is in a little corner along the canal. It is definitely worth a look if you are in the area. Being that this piece is located in Bricktown, there is metered street parking and commercial parking lots within a reasonable walking distance. It is not a destination piece though, nor a large consumer of your time. With that being said, as with most sculptures that I have visited and reviewed, this is not a long stop. I was there less than 5 minutes. So, you may want to consider planning out additional stops at many of the other attractions in the area, or making this stop part of a larger itinerary to maximize your time and trip. There are many bars and restaurants in the area.
