Been awhile since we were in bricktown at night. The place was buzzing. There was a concert at the…read morepaycom center, the port had a show and it's Saturday night. The restaurants were really busy which is good. They have the canal drained. First time I've ever seen tht. The place was pretty lit up and you could hear music and people enjoying. Very large police presence on the Main Street going thru but I imagine tht s fir traffic control after the concert. Lots of construction going on just west of bricktown which affects the traffic flow. We got out of there before the concert let out

This is the entertainment and sports District of DOwntown OKC. You will find many bars, pubs, and…read moreresturants in this area. Some popular restaurants include Revolution Pizza, Bucktown Brewery, Rendezvous Pizza, and Mickey Mantle Steakhouse. There is metered street parking available throughout the District. Some restaurants have their own private lots and the District is serviced by public transportation, including a train. The District has a bunch of hotels, bars, restaurants, and a baseball field, Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark, home of the Oklahoma City Comets, the Triple-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers. There is also a movie theater there as well. Most of the District of covered by metered street parking and commercial parking lots, but they are both rather reasonably priced. Paycom Center and the Oklahoma City Memorial are just outside of the District. One issue I had with the District was the motorcycles racing u and down the street late at night, they were very loud and kept me up. This area has a storied history and definitely promotes public art. There are some very fascinating murals and sculptures there. You can catch the Water taxis, which provides guests with a guided tour of the city. I was there during the week (Monday-Thursday) and there was not a lot of people roaming the District. I still enjoyed my time there and it was pretty fun. You are surely to end up here if you are visiting OKC. It is a must visit.

@OKGazette Halloween Parade is one of my favorite local events, and I've been both a spectator and…read morea participant. From a spectator standpoint, it is a fun night out, doing something totally different than you normally get to do. The floats are all really well-done, and the personalities of the groups shine through the costumes and makeup. As a participant this year, I got to see some of the behind the scenes of a very well-organized event. How you successfully wrangle that many individual groups with participants totaling into the thousands, I'll never understand. The provided a form that had to be filled out several weeks in advance, with all of our information, and that was the script the Emcees read. (The Emcees were great and their costumes were killer). They sent out a really comprehensive packet of information ahead of time, and then held an informational meeting for participants. By the time the parade arrived we still had any questions, that's our fault! I highly recommend this excellent event every year and hope it is part of the landscape for years to come.

This event is becoming one of Oklahoma City's signature events. I have been coming to it since it…read morewas known as the "Ghouls Gone Wild" parade and it never disappoints. Although I have never particpated, it is a sight to behold. The costumes, floats and genral craziness are a great departure from the everyday humdrum of OKC life. This year I got to experience it from a whole new (and what will likely be a great venue to come) perspective. The parade route was changed and it now goes mostly down the newest area of OKC to go under urban renewal - Midtown. I was fortunate enought to attend the "Cat On A Hot 10 Roof" Halloween Party in the old Packard Building (on NW 10th and Robinson). Yelpers take note...this will be one of OKCs newest rooftop bars when it fully opens, I believe they are going to just call it 10 Roof. It is a part of the new restaurant being built below it - Packard's New American Kitchen, at least that is the tentative name. Owned by the people responsible for the Interurban chain this will be a departure from their traditional burgers and beer menu and offer unique and different offerings from which they catered the Halloween party. I don't yet believe they've decided on a full menu but the bottom restaurant is ultra modern looking and the rooftop deck is divine and will not only be a place to watch the Halloween Parade but no doubt a destination on the rise. I will be glad when it finally opens and appears on yelp to be reviewed thoroughly but just a heads up - this will be another fantastic location in Midtown.
