Stayed at a bed and breakfast but they were not serving breakfast on Monday so we headed up the street to Claire's at their recommendation. This is a really small town with a population of around 120 so our expectations were not that high but we were pleasantly surprised. Definitely a local place but the coffee was good and the breakfast sandwich was really good. They were made to order on house made bread of your choice. Very fresh ingredients and just a great way to start the day. Staff was friendly. Locals in the place were friendly as well. They have some outdoor seating we took advantage of due to temps in the lower 70's. We live in Florida and sitting outside in 70 degrees is not an option in July. We came back later and grabbed some Italian hoagies that were their sandwich special for the week. Again, homemade rolls, freshly sliced meat and fresh vegetables made for a really good sandwich. I loved this place. Planning a trip back to the area to do some fly fishing and will definitely make a stop or two at Claire's.

Everyone seemed happy with their food. You order and pay at the register. The owner told me they also have a patio if we want to sit outside. Very happy to go back anytime. Sorry I was so hungry and excited about my food I forgot to take a picture.

The store itself offers a couple of self-checkout lines, attendant lines (2), made-to-order kiosk (3), self serve coffee and drink stations, lottery machines, mobile pick-up, a small section of convenience items, pre-made food and pastries, as well as tobacco and alcohol. Compared to other locations, I felt this store was very small and offered a lot less than other Wawa's I have shopped at (it could be that we are located in a smaller area). My one complaint is the pre-made heated food was burnt, my husband could not finish eating his sausage croissant, we are understanding- it's first day and your still trying to adjust QC and the like. There is parking directly in front of the store and as well as on the left of the store (if facing it). There are several gas pumps for those needing fuel. Overall, it was a nice Wawa, I just wish the store itself was a little bigger and they had a wider selection of items. I'm still very happy that Wawa has come to down, I only wish I would have gotten there a little early to get some swag (the shirt). The goose was very friendly and engaging:)

But the best thing about Midtowne is the amazing selection for EVERYTHING. This is the place for a beer snob....they even sell Delerium! Not to mention the amazing support they show for the local market--they sell muffins, cookies and other baked goods made by local people, and always have a few CDs from local bands (which Harrisonburg has no lack of!). Also, there's usually a bulletin board up displaying events happening in the area like live music, farmers markets, yard sales and things of this nature. The service is usually great--my favorite employee is Chris--the most friendly and helpful guy in Harrisonburg. Support Downtown Harrisonburg--shop at Midtowne!

More importantly, and the reason I am writing this review, is that Midtowne Market stocks an ever changing selection of unusual/hard to find beers. They stock Rouge Ales, Bell's Beer (a good brewery from Michigan), and many other brands that you will be hard pressed to find without a trip to Northern Virginia. Finally, note that their selection is ever changing, so on a positive note there will usually be something new to try, but on a negative note, you might find your new favorite beer only to have it disappear the next time you visit. It's not perfect, but it's a refreshing change from the usual beers sold at supermarkets elsewhere.

It's a larger sized coffee shop but there's room to sit and perhaps even to do some laptop stuff. We were sightseeing today so no time for that.
