***Update to my review of 11/8/2024*** I filed a complaint with the BBB and the State of Ohio Attorney General's Office regarding my issues in purchasing a used car at this dealership. It seemed there would be no resolution as I received a reply that said a sales manager had reviewed the complaint and could not see any issue. I later contacted the manager directly and learned he did not have all the information. I emailed him my paperwork and he immediately saw the error. He will issue a check for the difference. I am very pleased with the outcome. I recommend talking to sales managers Tony Little or Rob Hall if you are not a satisfied customer. read more

My husband and I have been shopping for a new SUV after totaling our suv. We have been planning on trading in my car and moving forward with buying a new or used SUV. The afternoon of 4/11/24 I saw a Suburban online at Jake Sweeney Chevrolet that I was interested in. My husband called and they said to call back, after 2 on 4/12/24, as the vehicle was being serviced. My husband then calls the sales person the following day (4/12/24) and told them we would be in after I was off work that evening. As we are getting ready to leave the house (4:15), the same gentlemen (David Shelton) calls and asks if we are on our way. We stated we would be there about 5, as it was almost an hour drive for us. Upon arrival, the guy comes up to us and states "Let's get this done and over with", at this point I look at my husband in complete shock, that he said that. I mentioned that we were planning on trading in my car, he then proceeds to roll his eyes. Again, I was just speechless. He asks that we pull our car around and meet him on the other side of the building, which we do. When we get out, he takes my car key, gets in my car to get the information, then meets us inside. When we got to his desk, he said "This is not going to be a good outcome". At this point, I was ready to leave, but my husband wanted to look at numbers as he knows I needed a new car. He starts asking questions about the amount I owe, if we can put any money down, then stated maybe we should try to look at a different car. We then tell him no, that we drove an hour to see about this suburban. He starts plugging things in and trying to, I guess do his job, but then realizes he lost the keys to my car. I just laughed as I could not believe this was happening. Once my keys were found and they were able to take it back to get an offer, the guy says "I hope you guys planned on putting quite a bit of money down." I said "Well we can put some money down, but we would like to see what we can figure out" He then states, which this was what did me in, "Honestly it's the end of the day and I am ready to get out of here, so maybe this just is not the right vehicle for you" I could not believe what was actually happening. Of course, after dealing with this, my husband was not happy with the way he was speaking to us and they exchanged a few words and we left. I was almost in tears, because I was just so frustrated and embarrassed that he spoke to us that way. We may be young, but we are probably better off than most people our age or even older. I could have easily went in there and paid cash for the suburban, but am dead set on trading in my car, as we don't need 3 vehicles between the two of us. I have never once had such an awful experience at a dealer. UPDATE: When the gentlemen was out looking at my car, he was using an umbrella. When my husband walked to the drivers side and was telling me goodbye today (4/13/24) he looked at the roof of my car and there is a large scratch and other scuffs from the guys umbrella! We have called, they asked us to send over the pictures, so we did and have yet heard back. read more

If you need a used car this place is a fine place to come. My issue is more with the staff. When we first got there no one wanted to help us because we looked to young, at least that's what one of the salesmen told us. Then we looked around for cars and found a few we liked and test drove them. Then we got a salesman who not only didn't want to help us and was lazy, but was plain rude and insulting. He didn't help us look for cars that were in the lots. He just gave us his lap top and made us do all the work! If we wanted to research ourselves we could've stayed home! And every time we asked a question he acted like it was a huge inconvenience. Sorry that we wanted to know which cars were available! And my second issue is that they would not negotiate in price at all. There was a car there that we did our research on and they were trying to charge $18,000 when every where else it was selling for $15,500-16,000! And the car was not in great shape. I would not recommend coming here for your car needs. read more

Buyer beware!!!! We purchased a used car for my daughter. Unfortunately, we are out of state so we needed it to be delivered. For a "small" fee of $800 they would deliver it, but of course it ended up being almost $850 since instead of a separate line item it was added to the cost of the car, which you guessed it gets taxes taken out. When we were looking at the vehicle, I made it abundantly clear that we did not want a smoked in vehicle since I am highly allergic to the smell of cigarette smoke. We were assured that it did not have a smell and a video of the vehicle was taken. The delivery driver drove the vehicle from Cincinnati all the way to Virginia by the car itself. Adding miles instead of actually putting it on a flatbed truck like every other delivery service I've ever dealt with before. I never got in my daughter's vehicle until about 5/6.days later when I smelt the cigarette smoke. She stated that she smelt something, but didn't know what it was. I even saw all the cigarette ashes on the center console where we assume someone put their hand while holding the cigarette. Contacted them and the text was a too bad so sad message because the delivery driver just doesn't smoke, and well since it's been soooo long since they delivered the vehicle then it was another story. The veiled accusation that it was us was totally uncalled for since I told her that we couldn't have a smoked in car at least 10 times. Oh and then she added the stop messages button just in case I wanted to pound sand. This was never in any of the messages from earlier, and it took weeks to get this deal completed. So stay away unless you absolutely need to get a vehicle desperately and don't mind the unprofessionalism. read more

We made an appointment with Rodney to look at a used car and he was able to put the keys to the side so that we were able to look at it two days later. (Which was really nice because it could've possibly been sold before we could get there). Rodney was very helpful and a great person to talk to. We were able to test drive it, as well as let our mechanic check it out. We were also given the car fax and were able to check for any preexisting wrecks, which it was clean. We decided to purchase the car and they gave us a really good deal on it. The car was in great shape and they cleaned it up for us before taking it home. read more

SHAMEFUL. Absolutely PATHETIC customer service and integrity. Found a particular car I wanted to buy last weekend on Carfax. Dustin at Jake Sweeney texted me right away. I specified exactly what car, all specifics and said I would be driving 2 hours to see it today. Dustin(don't know his last name) texted me back multiple times, even today multiple times. Told me it could be "fast and easy", bring proof of income, etc. Got there today for our set appointment, he had no idea what car I came to see. Had no idea really who I was. We were hoping car would be waiting for us to drive. He goes to other room, comes back and says "car WAS SOLD. Can I show you something else." What a bait and switch. This dealership is by far the worst I have ever dealt with. My first problem was when I originally purchased the car. The sales man told me that their was nothing on the Car Fax report and just rushed past the two accidents that the car was involved in. I found out that wasn't true but still bought the car. That's my fault and I take responsibility for believing a low life car sales man. They gave me ONE key and told me that I need to come back on Fridays between the hours of ten and eleven in the morning to get a second copy of the key. I kept showing up to work late on Fridays to get a copy of the key. The person they contracted to do the keys was never there. It took over six months to get my second copy of the keys. What's funny is the same slimy car sales man had an attitude with me when I was finally able to get a copy of the keys. He asked why it took me six months to get a copy and I said because the locksmith that your company contracts with is never here on time and my job can only be so patient. Three and a half years later someone totals my car. The payoff is $1000 less than what the insurance company is offering, but thank God I got gap RIGHT? I purchased it from the wrong company. I have been trying for the last two weeks to get someone to tell me how to initiate the process. Left multiple messages daily with the sales manager (I believe his name is Mark). Not a single call back in two weeks. I live in the west coast now and can't just drive into Jake Sweeney in Springdale Ohio (which isn't Cincinnati btw despite the address saying it is). I left another message this morning March 26, 2020. Maybe this poor rating will give the staff of Jake Sweeney used cars in Springdale Ohio an ounce of professionalism. I doubt it. This company is a POS. I am still receiving robo calls with a pre-recorded message saying the have a customer that wants my model of car. I got another call on 2/22/18. I called and again spoke with a rude salesman who sent me to Tom Wilson's (sales manager) voicemail which they always do. I called make and demanded to talk to Tom which I have in the past over these robo calls. He tells me he will stop them as before, but in each case he doesn't even ask for my name or phone number to stop it and I call him out on that fact. As well as the fact that the Robo calls are lying because they have no idea what model of car I have. Robo calls are illegal and I mentioned that to them, but they do not care. Many years ago I bought a used car here that turned out to be a nightmare in breakdowns and costs, but recently in my search for a "new-to-me" car I thought I'd give them another chance. Jason, the salesperson, was very helpful. I came to the lot twice and test drove a car. He and another salesman indicated they'd had the car for some time and were likely to send it to auction soon because they hadn't been able to sell it. I asked if I could take it to my mechanic for an inspection and they agreed. While it was at the mechanic, they called and left voicemails twice. Turns out they had a prexisting deal on the table with another buyer and I needed to return the car immediately because they had sold it. I complained about the $90 I wasted on an inspection for a car that they had already sold. I asked them to refund the money since they had misled me (mistakenly or not) and wasted my money. They refused and said I was welcome to pay full price for the car and they'd sell it to me rather than the other guy. No thanks. My mechanic uncovered thousands of dollars in needed repairs, so thankfully it wasn't a repeat of my past experience. I'm glad I didn't buy the car, and while the salesman was nice and apologetic, neither he nor 'his manager' would make it right. I was amazed that a place as big as Jake Sweeney who claims to be "The Tri-State's Most Trusted Automotive Name Since 1917" would continue to operate like this. What a waste of time and money. If you're buying here, get it inspected somewhere else before you do (and make sure the car isn't already sold before you waste your money on an inspection). read more

Do not go to Jake Sweeney Chevrolet! They will lie to you and try to swindle you! We are from Indianapolis and my daughter's car broke down in Cincinnati on her way home. We had it towed to the nearest Chevrolet dealership which was Jake Sweeney. It took them two days to do a diagnostic on her car. They then proceeded to tell me she needed a new engine and that her head gasket had blown. Knowing something about engines I knew they were lying. I had it towed to another mechanic that was recommended and come to find out the head gaskets were fine. She needed a new radiator, hoses, and thermostat to fix her car which happened to be less then a quarter of the price Jake Sweeney had quoted me to have the engine replaced. I felt taken advantage of since we were doing everything over the phone, I was 2 1/2 hours away, and that I am a woman. For you own sake and your wallets do you use them every! read more
