After 2 weeks in the hospital and 6 weeks in rehab, I was no weight bearing for a while and so this is my attempt at learning to walk again and regaining mobility. My insurance Emblem/ GHI was accepted so I have only a co-pay of $20. The facility is convenient, clean and well staff with a wide range of equipment to service your needs. Katrina, Neil and Anna are amazing. They have been very keen to my needs and the therapeutic practices that would best support my healing journey. The appointments have been honored in a timely manner and I am pleased with the changes in mobility that I've seen. My hope is that over the 16 sessions I'll be able to transition from walker to cane and be fully mobile independently.

The therapy itself and the therapist were all very nice and pretty knowledgeable. The admin side not so much. Unfortunately there were a few issues with paperwork that did delay and interrupt the rehab process. If I had to do physical therapy again I'm not sure I would return due to that mistake. I would only consider it because of the therapists.

The physical therapist literally forgot what my injury was and then tried to argue with me about what part of foot was injured (!). He seems like he probably knows his stuff, but he immediately passes his patients off to his very young and inexperienced PT students, who will barely watch you (or even leave the room!) while you do exercises. Sometimes I'd have to remind them what exercises were written on my chart, because they are paying so little attention. This is not what good PT looks like. There are many good PT places in NYC, avoid this one like the plague.

The MD was nice but did not review my pre-visit health history; I had to go through everything again and he wanted me to take a muscle relaxer 3 times a day - absolutely not. The office was dirty and messy. I told the receptionist I had a bad experience and I continued to receive multiple calls and texts asking to set up more appts after I told them I would not be returning. I just received a notification confirming a pain management appointment that I never made. The entire experience was very unprofessional.

I do not know how to shout out loud enough my praise for him, his team, and the entire staff in Forest Hills. From our first meeting, he listened very closely to my needs and goals. In fact, every time I arrived, he observed how I walked in, the look on my face, the first words out of my mouth. From these clues he would guide me through my session. When I felt a setback, he encouraged me and talked me through my frustration and disappointment. One of my goals was to be able to pick up my 30 pound grandson. I will never forget the day he had me lifting weights and he said: "You just lifted half of your grandson"! Now, I am lifting him, back doing yoga and Pilates, and even back at Orangethrory. Besides his incredible knowledge and guidance, I also want to commend all the assistants! They are hard workers AND keep all the equipment clean, wiping down anything a client touched. Vinny, Monika, Greg, Emily, they are just so caring, patient and knowledgeable. So much personal attention--they watch and make sure you do every exercise right. And amazing things happen when you follow their gentle guidance. The place is small and the little storefront doesn't look like much, but it's always very clean (you see them wiping everything down with disinfectant after every use), and all the equipment you need is there.

I am being treated for sciatica and after each session, I feel such relief. Yakov is thorough and attentive. He will try different techniques to ease the pain and release tension. He works with the whole body to treat the sciatica. He works with his patients with care and gentle pressure and strong hands. My disabled 79 year old mom who already walked gingerly with a rollator has been in and out of the…read morehospital this year for an ongoing medical issue (and then covid contracted in hospital) and she had weakened considerably. Her home visits with physical and occupational therapists from VNS came to an end and she was discharged and I was looking for more PT and OT for her in the house (after getting a prescription for more sessions from her GP). She was too weak to get to a PT office as frequently as she needed the services. At Home provides PT and OT house calls by amazing therapists! I had at first gone with another company for this a few years ago when my mom needed services after knee replacements. That company couldn't find me available people for a month and half, they told me, so I called At Home (two PTs I knew recommended the company). This company hires EXCEPTIONAL therapists (shout out to her brilliant therapists Elisa and Rachel!) who are soooo gifted, compassionate and flexible. They always tailor my mom's sessions perfectly, she always feels extremely challenged but they never push her too far given her limitations and they are very creative about ways to strengthen her lower and upper body and particularly her core. I have noticed that she is walking up her steep ramp out of her building with much more balance and strength and her gate seems stronger, faster and more aligned. She is just so much stronger since sessions began. My mother has had A LOT of different therapists over time because she's severely disabled and has multiple orthopedic issues so we are not wet behind the ears, so when I say these practitioners are uniquely amazing, it's an informed opinion. They also stay for a really long time and they are so focused and humanistic. A word about the back office: Kareshma (the manager who did intake and found the providers) and any other person I have dealt with at this company are amazing! They are so diligent and on top of things and compassionate and friendly. They even followed up to see if we were happy with the service and whether the practitioners made scheduling easy (they had, the PT and OT bent over backwards to accommodate my mom's schedule and make sure they weren't coming on the same days)... I had found the other company I went with previously (Fox) abysmal administratively, just the pits. It would take multiple calls and emails before I would hear back when I had an issue (regarding intake or billing or finding a second PT when the first one left the company) and to begin with, it would take many weeks for the services to start... Nobody was particularly friendly when you would call, I felt like everyone was burnt out and annoyed even when we would initiate service. In stark contrast, the admin workers are so lovely and smart and caring and they make the process so seamless and easy for exhausted caregivers and disabled people who are overwhelmed by their medical challenges. the services have been a saving grace for my mom and I am just so grateful. One last note is that I just asked and they do indeed offer out-of-pocket services for people who aren't insured or person has maxed out on the services covered by Medicare. I'm not sure we can swing it financially but the fee mentioned seemed appropriate for a house call.
