I stumbled into this place randomly while stopping at a little grocery store down the street. The service was small town fabulous (big hearts from me!!!). This place belongs here, but would be a go to for me in any city I've ever visited. I ordered the breakfast burrito, which was absolutely massive!!!! Easily the best one I've ever had in my life. The service the last few times wasn't great, and the food quality varies a lot. For Takeaway they add extra fees that aren't disclosed prior to ordering, and then food portions are about 50% of the restaurant plate at full dine-in price. The last time we tried takeaway was on our way home the week of Valentine's. Even though they were slow when we ordered, we waited over 20m when we got there to pick it up, and the person ringing us up told us twice there's a tip line. We both got the Arroz con Pollo, and it came with chips and salsa, but the salsa container was less than half full and didn't go very far. The dinners came in very small aluminum to-go trays that were maybe 6x10". They had about 1/2" of rice across the bottom and mine had 7 small chicken strips. My husbands had a couple more strips. I can never finish the dish when we dine in, but ate the to go easily. My husband ate his and then started raiding the fridge for something else to eat. Usually we'd eat there every couple weeks, but after Valentine's, we took a little break and dined in again a couple weeks ago. I got the pineapple chicken fajitas, which were fresh, perfectly cooked and really excellent with a generous portion. My husband got the paella, but the meat was really stringy and tough, and the rice was very dry with almost no cheese sauce. The cheese sauce that was there was a weird dark brown, didn't taste good, and made him uncomfortable. When he asked the server about fixing it, he kept shrugging like he didn't understand, then said "kitchen is closed, that is all" and walked away, even though it was only a few minutes after 9, and they were open for almost another hour. (He does speak excellent English, we heard him with other tables.) After that, we sat with empty cups and didn't see him again until he handed us our bill. Over the years we've been pretty happy eating there, and had the occasional hiccup like a forgotten drink or our order getting lost in the kitchen on a busy night, but those things were rare, the staff took care of them quickly, and the food was good. These last two trips were really disappointing, though.

I ordered the Pocahontas Pride, which was chicken friend steak, two eggs, hash brown casserole (I opted for plain hash browns) buttermilk biscuits and sausage gravy. I think it was $15. And it was enough food for two people easily. Very good, and very filling. My daughter ordered boneless wings (I tried a couple since there was too much food for her) and she and I both loved them. I'm normally hesitant to order wings outside of my normal places, but she will order them anywhere and she gave them great praise. She also added 1/2 order of onion rings which were both great and ample - I thought they actually got the order wrong there were so many. Wife wasn't feeling well, so she ordered a simple order of hash browns and liked them. All in all, a great experience for a quick stop during a long drive. Again, without reading the reviews in advance, I doubt I would have ended up at Powhatan. But I'm glad I did!

They are one of the places to go to in Clinton County. I tried their grilled chicken sandwich with cheese. A side of Cajun fries( not Spicy- husband thought they may season with ole bay) we shared fried pickles and fried okra- we were almost full off of those alone. Large portions for appetizers! even their ranch dressing they brought out to dip the pickles in seems homemade. staff was amazing and attentive.
