The food is just OK. There are far better Vietnamese places around, food-wise. But this place is super clean and modern, convenient to lots of shopping, and the food comes out quick. We were here on a slow Sunday afternoon when only 3 or 4 tables were occupied. Our server was John, a white guy with a man bun and no sense of timing. He doesn't speak loud enough to be heard over the music, and kind of mutters. He asked us what we wanted to drink before we even sat down..WTH?? Then before we were even halfway finished eating, he wanted us to pay the check. When we weren't ready with a quickness to pay him, he then spent the next 45 minutes pointedly ignoring us and not picking up the check off the table. We finally had to ask another server to please take our money. She was nice enough. The men's room does NOT have a changing table. The restrooms are gendered when they do NOT need to be. The deep fried pork egg rolls were really greasy...an oil temp or skill issue. The spring rolls fell apart as you ate them--not rolled correctly. The peanut sauce for the spring rolls was missing something--it was better with the addition of some hoisin sauce. (Each table has hoisin, sriracha, and chili oil) . The grilled pork bahn mi needed way more sauce and WAY more pork, but I did like the addition of the fresh jalapeño in there! The roll for the bahn mi was wrong--it's just a plain wheat hoagie rolls instead of the rice flour bahn mi bread, which was a real disappointment. The P6 pho...the broth was missing some depth..like all the correct spices were there but the beef fat element was missing. We wouldn't eat here again, because the passive-aggressive waiter was a huge turn-off...and there are better pho and bahn mi and spring/egg rolls to be found in Newport News. read more

The menu has tons of vegetarian options and everything we've tried has been fantastic. The vegetarian pho is deeply flavorful and comforting, and the tofu banh mi has great texture and seasoning. Bubble tea lovers, take note! I'm usually picky and really can't stand overly sweet drinks, but the boba here is perfect -- just sweet enough without being syrupy. They also offer it with regular iced tea instead of milk, which is my preference, and it was spot-on. The space itself is beautiful. There's a hand-painted mural and thoughtful lighting that make the ambience warm and relaxing. You can tell they put care into designing the space, not just the food. The service is warm and genuinely kind, and the staff has been wonderful every time we've visited. And as a nice bonus, they offer a military discount! There's really nothing not to love. We came here on a cold November night wanting some warm soup! We ordered the eggrolls to start and they were delicious. We wished there were more for the order, though. We also started with the jasmine tea. The tea was alright, I probably wouldn't get it again if I'm being honest because it just tasted like water LOL (yes we waited until it steeped). We ordered two large bowls (bun bo hue is only available in large) and found them very filling, with plenty of fresh vegetable toppings. While both dishes were satisfying, we recommend the pho over the bun bo hue. The pho delivered a more genuine flavor, whereas the bun bo hue was surprisingly sweet rather than spicy. This place is probably my favorite pho place in Hampton. Located in the shopping center between Five Below & Dollar Tree. It is still very new with murals on the wall depicting street side restaurants reminiscent of Vietnam with traditional cooking usually on the tv. Service is fast & very friendly. I find that the pho here is very flavorful & they have a large, varied menu. Their crab rangoon didn't have that much crab in it but the pho is flavorful & the ingredients are fresh & plentiful. We came back to Jade Bowl for a second visit, and once again ordered across the menu--from drinks and appetizers all the way through main dishes and dessert--to get a full picture. Just like our first visit, everything was consistently good. Our group was the same mix as before: two regular eaters, one very picky teenager, and a vegetarian, and again there were plenty of options for everyone. That alone makes Jade Bowl an easy recommendation. One thing worth noting again is that Jade Bowl clearly seems to do a lot of takeout, so traditional sit-down restaurant service doesn't appear to be their main focus. That said, service was fine, and the food came out as expected. Overall, Jade Bowl remains a solid pick if you're hungry for Asian food and want something reliable, well-priced, and satisfying. We ordered takeout from this location, and it was our first visit. When I arrived to pay and pickup my order the young man behind the counter did not even speak to me or tell me the total, simply turned the bag with my name around and pointed at the amount. Not a single word. When I arrived home, I discovered that they missed an entire container of food from the order. So, I continued to drive all the way back only to get into a debate with the same guy, who was now eating his own dinner and ignoring me and the handful of dine in customers that were there. He basically accused me of trying to steal food, as if the 15 minute drive there and back was worth me "conning" them out of some raw veggies and some cooked meats? When the chef finally came out, he said he would "make me another one" sticking to the narrative that I screwed up and not them. No sympathy, only criticism from the staff. When I arrived home, the order was still screwed up. The food itself was mediocre at best, the only reason this review gets a 1 star (besides the fact I can't technically go any lower) is the lady who answered the phone was very kind and actually helpful. EVERYTHING else about this place screams "this spot in the shopping center will be open for rent in the next 3 months when this place goes out of business". Avoid if you can, it was only option late on a Sunday for Vietnamese food. read more

10/10 literally amazing! I was soo impressed. Usually I go to Pho 79 but I noticed this spot opened up and wanted to see how it was. I am so happy I did that. The food was literally so amazing. I got the crab ragoons and that was my first time having them, they were so delicious. The pho was so flavorful, I've never tasted a pho as flavorful. Omg, the mango sticky rice was so freaking amazing I wanted to order one to go! That was also my first time have it. I also love the different drinks. Server was so sweet, I really liked her. She made the experience so much better. It was also very cute inside and outside, I loved the theme they had going on. Husband and I just moved from California to Virginia and we've tried so many food spots so many Vietnamese restaurants and they don't even compare to this restaurant. I stumbled upon this restaurant when I was going through my Apple maps I seen that they had pretty good reviews, so my husband and I decided to try it out and it tastes exactly like back home, very authentic, perfect spices perfect amount of meat and noodles. False advertisement ( on their menu ) for starters. Prices on menu, oh my gosh !!! 2 pieces of minute egg rolls priced at $6.99. Fried rice which was called Pineapple Fried rice suppose to come with a lot of veggies aside from beef or chicken. Had a lot of beef alright, however veggies you had to use a microscope to see if existed aside from the fried rice.No pineapple either. It came in an ordinary bowl with skimpy slices of oions. Save your money, folks. $30.54 total for a bowl of friend rice & 2 small egg rolls. Another false advertising on egg rolls at it pictured ( on menu ) 4 egg rolls.
